Originally I was going to post a question asking why many F1 drivers swerve to the right between turns 4 & 5 (after the casino). I know the track is not smooth there, but I didn't think the irregularity was so bad to require such a maneuver. Well here's my answer, in case anyone else was wondering the same thing:

"...the cars drive past the famous casino before quickly reaching the aptly named Casino Square. The cars snake down the next short straight, avoiding an enormous bump on the left of the track..."

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't see a question anywhere. However, that is a very interesting fact. Do you know if they put that bump into the course on gt5?

No, I always go on that side of the road and I don't feel anything strange, just rarely I have crashes like rosberg and perez had last year, between turn 9 and 10

You are quite right indeed, sir. I did have a question, and I stated so. I answered my own question, and so I decided to share the answer to my question with others here in case someone else has, or might someday have, the same question. Q&A seemed the obvious place to me, but I am often wrong. Yes you can call me often wrong.

No I don't think the "enormous bump" is in Cote d'Azur, just the real-life Monaco circuit.

When Michael Schumacher set the fastest Monaco lap this year he actually drove over the bump, I think Anthony Davidson on Sky Sports F1 said that you can risk locking up if you go over the bump but it's not a problem on GT5.

But if Cote d'Azur isn't Monaco, what is it? It is a real life track, not a fictional track.

I think what they are saying is, that cote d'azur is a replica of Monaco, just doesn't have details such as the bump

The GT5 track isnt licensed, but PD happened to design a street circuit somewhere on Cote d'azur which has an uncanny resemblance to the track that the F1s race on. Likewise, there are a few other games going around that have remarkably similar tracks that go by some variation of the name Riviera.

Since Bathurst, for example, is private property, they can legally defend the lay out, even if given another name. Cote d'Azur is based on public roads in Monaco.

It is listed as city track, not world circuit. ;)

Cote d'Azur is just the streets of Monaco. It's not a real track, they just close the streets for the F1 races with that exact layout that GT5 has for Cote. Since it's not a real track they can do that. I don't know but I think PD should change the road and remodel it a bit. It's far too smooth from the real thing. Even for a remake, although it's good and detailed (brings back memories too...) I definitely remember it being a lot bumpier.

The Monaco street circuit is a real, licenseable track based in the Principality of Monaco.

Cote d'Azur is a fictional city circuit based in France (notice the flag?). It just happens to look quite like the Monaco street circuit, though not exactly like it.

Have you ever been in the real thing Famine? I'm impressed that PD even made the lights in the tunnel two colors like in the real place. It's very similar except for the buildings of course, but most of the tracks buildings are not real. And Famine, also thanks for the bit where this is a apparently a real licenseable track... I didn't know that, I though they just worked something out to let this happen. Do you got any links you can send me so I can read more about this?

It's impressive how people from other countries know more than what you know about your own country!

As is High Speed Ring (in shape) with the old Fuji Layout and MidField was (vaguely) like Suzuka.

High Speed Ring has been around since Pole Position II, I think.

💡 Being that it is such a classic, someone should build a real life high speed ring to spec.

Sure. Anyone got a spare 100 million plus laying around? Lol

Several other tracks before this one, please. (:cough: string complex)

Alot of people do. Being that someone was going to build another Nürburgring in Nevada, this is completely reasonable.

Remembering the layout from Pole Position, to me it resembles Fuji more than High Speed Ring. And I never thought about Midfield Raceway resembling Suzuka but in a couple ways it really does! Huh... (I really miss Midifeld, Seattle, and El Capitan.)

PPII had Fuji and the HS Ring.

On the note about cote d'azur being the real life roads from monaco, is there any way that Tokyo rt246 is from real life roads there?

It is real. Google Caterham, Tokyo, and gran turismo. Watch the vid, then change your pants.
