Woo cheers for the kind words guys, shame some of the posts are , ah well :).

I heard that this is the 90's F1 layout.
^2003-2004's one, if I recall correctly (hence why d'Azur is a 'standard track'). :)

According to http://etracksonline.co.uk it's the '97-'02 version, before the pitlane was extended to Sainte Devote, and then closer to Piscine.

You just earned yourself 100 Gran Turismo points. 👍
Woo! only 700 more and I get 1 free internet :)

Two serious points here:
1. Absolutely groundbreaking work by Mithster18. You should be getting paid for your acumen.
.
700 Gran Turismo Points?

Looking at Tabac when watching F1 on the television, you don't realise it is just a section of armco that stops a car disappearing into the harbour.

Good stuff.👍
There's a blog I found a while ago where somebody walked around Monaco and took pictures of where the track goes.

Côte d'azure is the french Riviera reaching from the France/Italy border down to Toulon. Be awesome if they get a licenced version of the Circuit de Monaco, or would Codemasters have something to say about it?

Yep, the water is very close to the track as Alberto Ascari and Paul Hawkins can testify. Both survived their unexpected swim.

Come to think of it, the streets are all public roads and thus the "circuit" has no naming rights. The Principality of Monaco merely requests that you notify them in advance if filming in their nation, which is of no charge, probably due to the amount of tourists/visitors. Thus, there do not appear to be any restrictions on Freedom of Panorama within Monaco.

Basically, the way I see it, PD figured they'd seen enough photos and film footage to create a circuit which has essentially changed little over the years. Why spend hundreds of thousands of dollars (convert as necessary) on fastidiously recreating the circuit, then?

And you have to realize that the version in GT5 is a «make believe» version and its not licensed. Thats why its called Cote D'Azur and not Circuit de Monaco like it should be. So its only natural if it is not true to life. (wider and a few other diferences)

Yup.

Close enough to the real deal to keep the gamers happy while also different enough to keep the lawyers happy.

When will we finally get an A-Spec or seasonal event with unlimited requirements allowing you to race any car on the track for money?

It's been 18 months and the only seasonal we've had is a british challenge and hatchback challenge.

Disappointed, one of the few tracks that draws me back from Forza to drive (Nurburgring 24 hour and Spa being the other two) at the moment.

The GT3/GT4/GT5 version of the track (which, as Scaff daan pointed out, isn't really the track), is about 50-100% wider (and in some places even more than that) all the way around.

But because of what Scaff daan said ringing true, that doesn't bother me so much as how incredibly ugly the track is in GT5, looking fundamentally the same as it did in GT3 whereas at least other tracks ported straight from GT4 were reskinned a bit.

Yea I was comparing the water in trial mountain to cote d azur and the speed test track.Theres like generations of graphical advances between each lol.Only thing making this track look good is the lighting.I love racing around it though.
