Question on Drifting.

Yo. Ive been a big fan of Gran Turismo for a long time now. And one day thru sheer boredom I came across this website as I was just looking up granturismo car spec's just seeing if anyone had some custom settings that would be cool to try out, and I happened by this drifting section of GTp forum. Well to get to the apoint, I tried to drift, i read most of the threads, and ive been practicing like an hour a day on just drifting. Well i had a question about playing during the drift, upon a turn I brake once, just a tap, turn into the corner and downshift, most the time down to 2, depends on how i feel and the size of the corner...any way, I E-Brake once, another small tap(im on a dual Shock btw) and spin my read end out....
Now i enter the turn and my wheels dont have like any grip, i dont know if its the E-Brake.. i tried it both ways and i get the same results, my car just keeps sliding.. and i go off into the dirt... is there a way to hold that front end down,.. or asetting im not seeing....
or is it impossible with the dual shock.. o well any helpful sujestions would be most appreciated... Thank You, for reading my logwinded speech.

ok i had it all weighted off.. i took the turbos off and i was still sliding i will try a III infinity...i was use a LM race car...i had a stage 3 turbo all set up at 900 horses no wonder i was probly sliding off the road, ok i will let u know how it goes... thanks for the sujestion

Listen... just buy a car. Like a S13 Silvia or AE86 and LEAVE IT STOCK. Buy yourself a set of simulation tires and PRATICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. From there you'll get an idea of have the car reacts when drifting, basic drifting techniques, and you'll improve your skill. Then you can slowly tune your car. Don't go overboard with tons of hp and trick suspension setups. Thats all garbage. Horsepower is the least important thing in drifting, I don't care what anyone else says. Driver skill is the number one thing in drifting, suspesion falls in between. You will not become good just by what car you drive or who's setup you use.
I'm making a drift guide very soon just for people like you. Check out my thread about that titled "Coming soon from battle_stage".

Learn about tuning and do it yourself. No one can make you better.

LOL.. wow thanks alot thats was some good info... you were right i bought a S13 and practiced for about 45min and already got a good handle and basic little drift going .. it was pretty smooth, thanks alot man for your input

for me if u wnt to try . sim my advice dont but any weight & turbo thats what i do & u can learn from it after u master it then put some stage turbo & wieght ...ok...hope this help ...;)

I'm just gunna say: Get a RWD car, and a 4WD car. see which works best for you. But if you get a Skyline, dont pump like 1000 Hp on it. More like 300 with sims.

Don't start with 4WD.

I'm actually glad that I did that. Yesterday I just bought my first Skyline (I bought my ps2 AND my copy of GT3 just last week! ... yea i know, hard to believe huh? :) ) and i have to say it's a tad easier than my RWDs (S13 and AE86)...

yeah for sum reason, i feel more in control with a 4wd car especially when you buy the VCD controller.

Of course 4WD is easier. That because all four wheels are moving the car, increased grip. 4WD is a crutch when drifting. That's why a n00b should start with a stock RWD car.

Hahahaha, I'm saying the exact opposite actually. If you're gonna learn to drift, learn the right way, with a RWD. 4WD is limited in it's drifting ability, plus it's easier.

:odd: Oh well. 4WD is my thing. I think its just the power. Maybe I should try a Supra? :mischievous:

I kind of agree with you, kind of don't. In the fact its got limited drift potential, I agree. The part about drifting 'the right way', I don't. If you use it right, 4WD drifting is 'the right way'. Kind of confusing, but I know what I'm saying. Thats all that counts...

I agree with battle stage, that was the best sujestion i got ... i already am pretty fluent on my drifts, i started wit ha 1800cc S13, and drove probably 100 laps around seguna seca at 30mph just practicing, i just added one thing at a time, and tried to intergrate it into my style... thanks alot battle.. i think your style is the best way for people to learn how to drift
