It's very nicely done. I wouldn't say it's questionable at all. It may even be a genuine performance advantage, since there's less weight over the rear wheels, meaning there's less traction and there's less mass to move around when trying to initiate. That's why a lot of autocross cars have cut roofs.
 
It's probably just the wheels, though the overall diameter of the rolling stock and the car's ride height certainly don't help.

I think that would actually look decent on one of the new gen. Beetles. It doesn't work on that gen though.
 
Should have transplanted the Porsche front onto the VW's back and vice versa. At least it would have the engine and driven wheels in the right place.

In the ad, it actually says "I previously purchased thus vehicle for my wife as a birthday present, but due to [Quebec] Standards and Laws we were unable to drive it on the roads because it had been modified to appear as a BMW sports car." D'oh!
