Questions for real life drifters

I heard in japan the cops are sorta okay with drifting, cuz there more worried bout the racers on the highway, is that true over here in the US? I've never been to a drift meet, not many in dallas :banghead:

I'm sure the police here are uptight about everythin'..But as for Japan I havent heard alot about it, but I'd assume they'd care about drifting, just not as much as racing..

you got that off a site didn't you?

Cops in Japan are alot more lenient than in the US. They have way more respect for motorsports than we do in the US. They don't care too much of you're drifitng in the mountains. If you were downtown doing it then it would be a different case. They'd be more likely to go after you.
They don't like highway racing though. Cops use unmarked GT-R's and other unmarked cars to go after wangan racers.
If a cop saw you drifing on the streets in the US you WILL get busted. I got friend who have been lucky drifting in industrial areas and backlot's, but they do get in trouble occasionally.

Yeah, well..Michigan sucks that way..Its all.."Domestic POWER!" and its annoying.. I'm not for ricers, but a Supra or an RX-7 here and there would be a nice touch for the town..

Where in MI are you? I'm in the Detroit area. I know a lot of kids who are into the import scene. My friend has a turbo civic that stomps on mustang GT's all the time. :)

Howell..its like 20 Miles from Lansing..its sucks here.. And since I have no license, I'm stuck drifting a Bicycle.  :P Its great fun..I got the tires smoking..then they popped..

yeah i'm really sick of the preppy guys here putting so much pryde into there camaro's and crap. They all race their cars stock. Lol, no domestic racers allowed on SW highway, they always get honked at like losers

 The coolest car I've seen around here was an R33, and it smoked a few Camaros, then I never saw it again, I did ask the guy some questions though..he was an old guy..In his 60's I belive..

Good point. Vipers are nice, but lets be honest. There are very few ncie domestics. Off the top of my head ( I know I forgot some.) Theres..Vipers..Vettes..A camaro if you wanna think so.. Acura NSX, if you want to consider that Domestic..Aannd..Thats all I can think of..

wait, i kno in the gran turismo series, acura is in the american section, but i thought acura was like a subdivision of honda or sumthing like that. Like lexus and toyota.

Acura is the american sport/luxury division of Honda. It's only in America, not even Japan. That's why it's in the American manufacturers section.

The other day I saw a Camaro take off after a Civic..Even being Anti-domestic, I hoped the Camaro won..Never sure if it did though, I could care less..

Yeah. Traffic laws suck. I wish I saw more difting on the roads, and racing on the highways. That would be cool.

Yeah me too. Nothing makes you appreciate driving more than seeing a mangled teenage body all twisted up inside his Civic. Traffic laws are for sissies.

I totally agree with pergatory... traffic laws are there for your own safety. Although everyone will have there disagreements, they should also know what is also right and wrong. Drifting on the streets and Highway racing are both dangerous and illegal. I am not saying I don't drift illegally, but I go out of my way to find open lots out in the boonies... not through an intersection trying to show off or look cool. If you are caught drifting you may be charged with wreckless driving, same with highway racing... if you drive over a certain MPH it is considered wreckless driving and you may lose you car for a while, and possible do jail time. Oh, and about freeway racing... it's all fun and games until you crash going over 100+ mph, then it's over.

No way man. I'm serious. I hate when these stupid families with their kids and **** get im my way when I'm racing. They act like the road is for public use or something.

I got a bare-bone stock Chevy Tahoe (1996) outside of my drift car and one day some punk pulls up in his civic with a B18 badge on it. I could here his turbo spool up as he revved his engine. He leaned over to his window and said you fking suck to me, and I was a tid bit upset. So I prepare for a little drag, I have an auto tranny by the way. He floors it and so do I, both of us smoking tire. He gets about 3 feet ahead of me off the line, shifts (a decent shift, not some granny shift), and I catch him, and then I pull away till about a car or two ahead of him. Thats terrible. Granted, I am not a Domestic fan, but cmon, dont piss someone off if you aint got the engine to back it up.

I drift my Evo 1 but only in the wet cos its so gutless and only in way out the way places but even then ive been busted to many times last time i was caught i went up on 12 charges put on final prison warning and disquailfied for 2 years and as bonus 1 years probation so if you want to know about some seriously ****ed up stupid crazy s**t just ask me i can show you the 1 way ticket.all meals provided I have never injured myself or anyone else but only through good luck not good management. So remember kids drifting on public roads bad MMMkkay
