Earlier today the FFA made the decision to remove the North Queensland Fury from the Hyundai A-League due to lack of capital raised. There is much speculation as to whether or not the club did raise the required amount of $1,500,000 ... however what is certain is, the Fury are no more.

I myself am disappointed, yes they may have been a very unsuccessful club, however i don't see how removing a club that fell short of capital will help the FFA. Australia is a decent sized soccer nation, however it still needs the support to help the league become more popular. As for North Queensland, unfortunate, but there aren't any plans for a new club for at least the next 4 years.

R.I.P Fury!

I'm suprised how the A-League is still going. I see bits and pieces, but the stadiums have rows upon rows of empty seats. And the stadiums aren't even that big. And where do they pick the players from? They seem to have one unknown player per (rich) team, but as long as they come from Brazil or Argentina, they are hailed as gods of football.

Yeah me too honestly, but still soccer is still the world game, it will always be popular no matter what country, just to different extents. Upside is its some entertainment during the off-season for the rest of the sport, however it still isnt that popular. Sell out grand final is predicted though apparently, so it's somewhat popular.

Disappointed about the Fury. Not a fan of the A League but I had a soft spot for the Fury. The whole situation with the Fury was caused by bad management by the FFA. To me the A League is the NSL with different teams and more TV coverage. The standard of football isn't that much higher either yet the commentators go on about how good it is. I'd rather support a club than a franchise that will probably be gone in about 5-10 years anyway
