ITCC's return for a fifth season will see the average race day's length doubled, points per weekend doubled, and the number of cars will remain the same. 40 spots will be available in the championship, but only 16 per race weekend. The tracks we will use are all short "bull-ring" style tracks, similar in nature to ITCC 1, BTCC @ Brands Hatch Indy and WTCC at Suzuka East. Therefore, we can confirm the following circuits:

Weekend schedule:
Qualifying:

Q1 - a.k.a. "fast or bust qualifying," this determines which drivers outside of the top 8 in points are granted positions in the race weekend. It is run 30 minutes before the main lobby opens. Only the people who are not in the Top 8 in points standings are expected to attend this session. Max. 15 drivers allowed. Open track for all drivers. Fastest 8 make it in with the Top 8 of points.


Q2 - Lobby opens at 2:45 PM GMT-4, fifteen minutes before races start! Sets grid for Race 1 - Fastest 16 on track - including successful Q1 drivers. 15 minutes open-track qualifying. Fastest times start towards the front. Slowest times start towards the back.

Race 1: 50 km., Racing Medium tires - Qualifying Session #1 determines grid - no ballast

All races will run standing start. Intermission between rounds begins immediately, and ends as soon as all drivers are ready, as determined by Series Director. Please do not cause an unnecessary delay.

Success ballast - according to OP - will be run during Races 2, and 3. Ballast is not cumulative. Ballast is determined by the previous race only.

Races are the only way to score points. Each race is 25 points to the winner.

Four races per weekend, there's 100 points available each weekend.

Connection:
Connections have been greatly improved for ITCC 5. As ever, please simply clear cache under "Options" under the Start button menu. It is found under the "Network Settings" under "Options."
Problem Solving:
D/C Procedure: If a driver is disconnected from the lobby, and is able to re-enter the lobby and type "D/C" in the chat box within 4 minutes of the start of the race, the race will be restarted. There is a maximum of 1 D/C restart per race, and 2 D/C restarts per driver per race weekend. If a driver disconnects from 3 races in a row, the driver will not be scored in the third race, in an attempt to keep the schedule somewhat organized. Races will remain full distance, minus the number of laps already run by the lead car.

When a D/C restart is called, please back out in order of standing. First place should back out first, last place should back out last. Please back out in a timely fashion and reenter the course as quickly as possible. Do your best to keep the schedule organized. Upon reentry to course, please follow series director's guidance to manually set grid in order of positions as they were when D/C restart was called. Any pass attempts in progress shall be deemed unsuccessful, and the positions reverted to as they were before pass attempt was begun.

DNS procedure is when you're in the race, but you can not get the car to move. You have to back out to XMB dashboard and re-enter the lobby within 5 minutes of the race start. Type "DNS" in the chat box before the 5 minutes are up, and the race will be restarted.

The typing the reason for your departure is to ensure that you have successfully connected once again - the race will not stop if you disconnect twice, or fail to connect for some other reason.

Error 697 or 705 code upon attempting to enter lobby:

You will be unable to connect to the lobby host. If an attempt is successful, you will likely have "invisible drivers" on track. Port forwarding is a simple and effective solution to this problem. The Series Director, ITCC_Andrew, has port-forwarded all of the required ports for GT6, and this issue should be resolved. However, if not, the first and foremost thing to resolve the issue is port-forwarding.

Team Structure:
Manufacturers will be designated either "Independent" or "Factory-backed." For example, Ford will be Factory-backed, while Mitsubishi would not be factory-backed. Factory teams will have two drivers. Independent teams will have two drivers per team, for that manufacturer.

Registration:

If you want a factory spot, there is a deadline for factory spots: I can not guarantee a factory spot if you do not sign up before the factory registration deadline - May 17th, 2014. Registration this year will be quite different from in previous seasons. Registration will OPEN at midnight GMT-0, Sunday April 13th and FACTORY TEAM registration will CLOSE at midnight GMT-0 May 17th, 2014.

These factors will determine which manufacturers contact you for testing, or to offer you a spot as their factory driver.


If you miss the deadline, and all factory spots are filled, you may end up filling a privateer or independent slot, so meet the deadline!

If you meet the deadline, the manufacturers will invite you to test for them. Every manufacturer will have a different goal and a different criteria set for the drivers. If they like what they see, you'll be chosen as a factory driver - to ensure that the manufacturers have the best drivers they can, and to ensure that the "factory" spots are for the best-of-the-best. Those who are unsuccessful will be Independent's Championship drivers, with lower expectations and their own championship to win. A majority of the manufacturers involved in ITCC have Factory-backing, so chances are good that the truly talented drivers will be on the factory teams. This skill-ranging should lead to some very, very fun points battles! Those who are likely to win races will be factory drivers, while those who need more experience will not be embarrassed by drivers who have four seasons of experience.


If you want to use a car which no one else is using, you may sign-up as a privateer. Privateers are drivers who do not have teammates. Only Independent drivers can be privateers.

Along with his trusty teammate of two seasons, Ettick, and their well-sorted Citroën C4 cars, he feels comfortable attacking a bit more this season. No drama, no politics, all racing. Expect him to be a front-runner.

Bio: Blake is a very fast, comparatively aggressive driver, known for pushing his car to the limit of grip - and sometimes even beyond - in order to finish well. His exciting driving style has earned him a share of fans. This is his second season with teammate Ciro, leading to a sense of comfort within his team. The Alfa Romeo is known to be fast on wider, longer tracks. Silverstone is an immediate strength, and it's not bad at Brands Hatch Indy either - the Alfa could open a large lead in the championship early. Can the Tasmanian jack-rabbit be caught?

Bio: Ryan is the teammate of Andrew, for the second season now. He's improving rapidly, and now poses a serious threat to the championships. With his natural speed, and Andrew's consistency in traffic, the pair could be the winning team... Though Ryan is unlikely to settle for second, behind his teammate. A friendly rivalry between the teammates has been fostered for years - one driver will always outperform another in every race. Ties are impossible. Should a pattern develop, Ryan will want it to be in his favour.

Bio: nas fosters a flamboyant driving style in ITCC. Can this continually-improving Ken Block of ITCC win any races in ITCC 5, to follow up on various successes in ITCC 4?

He can defend, master strategy, attack, and run with the lead all equally well. Known for his domination of wet/rain races, der König can do everything pretty well... But especially rain races. Bio: Ciro, the teammate of Blake, is one of the fastest Latvians in the world. His Italian heritage makes him proud to be racing for Alfa Romeo.. And he's hungry to earn some wins for A.R. Smooth and quick, his driving style is very unique. He can make a pass anywhere, and defend his position equally well. This driver excels in traffic, where he can run his own race, as if he's imagining a track without anyone else on it. He drives around people with a minimum of effort and an excess of flair.

Bio: The Iceman, this Finnish driver takes after Kimi Raikkönen for his cool-headedness and natural speed. He wins with grace, and does so often.

Bio: rofl admits he'd be willing to be the 2nd driver for his teammate, Jammy, but many believe he could be right up there in the championship with jammy. Can he repeat his near victories, and maybe even snatch a step on the top of the podium?

Bio: Spurgy is an alien. ITCC's first GT Academy player, Spurgy took part in GT Academy a few years back - and his speed shows. He competes in open wheel competitions in Britain, and does ITCC as a fun hobby on the side. Although his driving style is very much open-wheel biased, he can still deal with the pack of touring cars. His strength is qualifying and open-lapping pace. He's not nearly as talented in traffic as Jammy, Ciro and Blake, but instead he's fast enough to jack-rabbit each and every race start towards the front. Can Ben master the mid-field to claim the championship?

Bio: CAM is a threat for overall race wins. The outright pace of the Mitsubishi is good - especially in the straights. Mel, Ettick Locked into Factory Teams, Nas in On Met Conditions

With the conclusion of day one testing, three drivers entered, and three drivers walk away happy. ITCC_Andrew has locked in a ride at Citroen. Meanwhile Ettick has locked in a seat at Honda. And then there's Nas. While improving, he technically didn't meet the requirements by Renault. He ran the target lap, but not consistently. He can, however, still lock himself in. He has been given a ride by Renault for ITCC Runoffs. Given he finishes 8th or better in points, he has it.
Day two should see even more moments of action, and of course, finding the "Golden Setup".

Spa finale just hours away

As the drivers and crews prepare for the final race of the season, it is almost certain that it will without a doubt be the craziest ITCC race ever. As it's the first time coming to Spa, it's quite interesting to notice some drivers got a better handle of the course than others. When it comes to it, some guys in the back, such as Nas and Ettick, have nothing to lose going into Spa. Some others like Andrew and Turbo, however, have everything to lose.

Spa will be the dream maker, or the heart breaker, for many ITCCers ending the season. We'll see you there.

International Touring Car Championship organizers have announced that several French auto manufacturers are interested in fielding Factory teams. Citroën, Renault, and Peugeot have all announced their ambitions, and the cars that they will be entering.


The Peugeot RCZ - which was teased with disguised photos from Nürburgring GP/D testing - will be the first of French manufacturer's cars. This rather odd car was designed in 2009, and released in 2010. Its FF layout, and low center-of-gravity make this carbon-fiber two door coupé an excellent choice for the French marque.


The next car is the Renault Clio R.S., which will also be a factory car. This peppy, small and agile two-door hatchback surprises most who first see it. Its handling is reminiscent of the hot hatches that France does best - responsive and lively. An FF platform with a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine make its platform very typical in ITCC, but not its small wheelbase, which makes it capable of carving slower corners very well.


Citroën was the final manufacturer to announce their ITCC 5 intentions - The C4 Coupé 2.0 VTS will be Citroën's entry into the ITCC's fifth season. Although the car looks rather heavy, looks are deceiving in this case. It's actually a lightweight car, very similar to the Renault - an FF, two door hatchback with a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine.





ITCC organizers also revealed the system for how its drivers will be sorted in season 5: The organizers will be privately contacting drivers who express interest in joining with the manufacturers that they can select. Drivers with previous experience in ITCC are welcome to take "first pick" at Factory cars, while those without previous ITCC experience will be given first pick at independent cars.


If there are slots which are not filled when all factory drivers have announced their choice, the factory spots will be up-for-grabs with "Manufacturer test sessions." Whoever sets the fastest time with a car will be given the empty factory seat.


Once all Factory cars are filled, then - and only then - will the Independent's slots be confirmed. The deadline will be May 17th - any driver who misses the deadline will be put into an Independent team without the chance for a factory seat.
Factory drivers will be announced on May 17th, when everything is finalized.


The pre-season will begin in May, when the announcements have been made.


ITCC 5 will use a new points scoring system, meaning that some drivers will not score points. Championships will still be given to the highest scoring Independent's and Factory drivers, Manufacturers, and teams. Championships will also be contested by "Privateers" this season, who will be scored on their own. Privateers are drivers with only one car - not on a team. Because these drivers don't have teammates to score points with, they will only be able to compete against each other, and overall for the Drivers' championships. Privateers can only be independents, because factory slots MUST be filled.

Nas and Buck stick together for a second season

After a successful first season, Team Terror Racing's nascarfan1400 and Buck1 will stick together next season in ITCC V. They agreed today that they will stay together, though the team name may change. They have both proven they are capable of winning. One goes left, the other has made history. Next season may be their strongest yet!

A True Testament to Saftey Advances
nascarfan1400 walks away from nasty accident at Trial Mountian due to ITCC V Safety advances.

During a test at Trial Mountian, nascarfan1400 had lost control of his car. He then hit the inside dirt mound just prior to the hairpin, and ripped a wheel off of his car, he then slid at 100+mph into the outside guardrailing. The car's shell was totaled, but due to safety advances in the new V cars, Nas walked away uninjured.

"After the injuries at Spa," Nas said in an interview post-crash, "I am very pleased to be able to walk away unscathed from a mess such as that one. Hats off to @ITCC_Andrew and the Team of Stewards on making the cars safer!"

This was a true testament to the capabilities of these V cars. It shall be interesting to see more as the season unfolds.

... Slightly. I'm pretty sure we've matured enough, as a series, to allow us to try to run races at the circuits we want to. It (Suzuka) was also suggested by @Ettick.

"failure?" I maintain that it was some of the most fun racing I've ever been in.

I mean, the first thing you see when you open ITCC 4 thread, is BAM! 3 @ Suzuka East... 11 cars on track, battling. :D

There are certain tracks which are just "classic" ITCC tracks:

-Cape Ring Inside/South
-Trial Mountain
-High Speed Ring (you don't know how good it is yet)


I promise, though, they're awesome.
 
The racing toward the back (Were I undoubtably spent most of my time) was dirty, and awful at Suzuka.


Then put HSR in the regular season too

Just kidding lol. But he drifted into me during a race... A lot. Plus he was given an exclusive car, which is wrong.
 
He was also the worst best friend I could ever have had. He will not be returning. Your nightmares can end, dude.
 
I might only put up a start time. Things will go efficiently and smoothly, but not perfectly. You guys are responsible, too, for ensuring that you're ready for the starts of the races. If you're not, there will be hiccups.

I only disagree with one thing in the entire OP:
Suzuka. It was a mess in 3...


Edit: Also, if there are Bullring tracks, get rid of TM. it's too long to be called a bullring track.

The problem with Suzuka East is that unless someone goes wide or makes a mistake then the only place you can really overtake is t1 by slipstreaming down the s/f straight.
The 2 problems with that are:
1) The straight isn't really that long so you need to get a really strong run to even attempt the pass
2) You need a compliant driver (we have loads of those currently:rolleyes:), the car in front can easily brake late and run wide into the corner OR just force you onto the outside line in which case the overtake becomes extremely difficult unless you are very skilful on the brakes. If you aren't extremely careful with your own braking up the inside you will just slam into the car going on the outside and push him off track - resulting in a very angry driver and many accusation's of dive-bombing.

Having said that personally I do like Suzuka, the season 3 races were good but a little frustrating when you are going quickly behind a massive pack of cars and are just physically unable to pass. Memories of me racing Sakary spring to mind if you want a perfect example - spent 10 laps trying to pass then when I finally did the next car slowed me down and he just cruised back in front on the next lap with his extra horses.

With regards to the 'bull-ring' style calendar: to me it sounds like either a large quantity of racing laps with little action (Suzuka example) or just a massive pack of cars trading paint samples and it all ending in a massive pile up due to lack of patience.
 
^ I agree totally, :boggled: i just find these small tight tracks frustrating with these cars. Lets have the proper suzuka and FUJI on the calender.
 
The tracks aren't very tight at all, :lol: I find that they're mostly high-speed tracks. Autumn Ring Mini is the only low-speed track on the calendar, and it is a seriously fun track for trying to pass on. The number of switch-back type corners means that there's a good likelihood of side-by-side racing, and the low-speeds means that it's easy to manage your own racing line.
 
We could have some races at GT Arena if you want to be frustrated with your transaxle, but..
I'm perfectly happy with the current schedule. :)


Team of Stewards is getting ready for a big announcement next month. Testing will begin tonight, to prepare for the announcement. The announcement will be an ITCC-first, but it's something we've long needed.
