I saw this video:

The first car ahead of the g37 is a mini - but after closer examination, you will notice that it has some sort of special livery (checkered sections and a racing number), and a spoiler... Both of which aren't possible on any mini currently in GT5... So, is this a race-modded mini, or a completely separate vernon? either way, why are't we seeing it in the full game? Especially since this is from 2009...

We DEFINITELY don't have that track. And it looks the same as one of the photo-travel locations...

I don't know what you want any of us to tell you? Yes, both the Mini livery and the track was removed before launch. That's all we know.

It is quite a shame that we don't have a Mini made for racing in the game, as it could be great for online races. But I don't see PD adding it for GT5. Of course you nver know, as PD is still release small DLC's every now and then.

About the track, then I don't consider it a great loss. From the looks of it, it's just a circle. And we did get a very nice Karting track in the Spa dlc pack.

My question is why they were removed in the first place... I mean, they LOOK complete and ready to use... maybe licensing wouldn't allow the mini, but the track, why work on it (and appear to have finished it) and leave it out?

The track is Tokoyo r246, not sure about the mini.

He's talking about the track in the 2nd link. The one with the Karts. :)

We have no way of knowing. We aren't PD.

Check who uploaded that video. :sly:
We know this stuff since GT5 went on sale. You're 2 years late buddy.
There's other cars and tracks that were showed to us before, and never made into the final game.

Now, to answer your original question......no one knows why. Every game that you own was made to have a certain feature/weapon/car. But during production of said game, those things were left behind. Why? Only they know.

This happens to every game. Some times because it's no longer necessary, or because they made a better version of it.

Think of it as deleted scenes from movies. :)

I haven't seen this discussed before (probably because I didn't search hard enough), so I figured I'd bring it up. And especially now since Sorg has been taking apart GT5's code, maybe he could find this missing content? He found and unlocked the Red Bull 5G and Japanese Flag editions, after all...

Well, there's your problem!

so I figured I'd bring it up. And especially now since Sorg has been taking apart GT5's code, maybe he could find this missing content? He found and unlocked the Red Bull 5G and Japanese Flag editions, after all...

You could have asked Sorg directly on his thread. I'm sure he would gladly take your request. ;)
I can understand how you feel. This is all new to you so it must bee quite a shock to learn that so much material never made it into the final game. Just take a deep breath.

If you think you found something new, or that's missing from the game, search it on GTP. Chances are it has already been covered to a certain extend.
There's nothing wrong about posting on 2 year old threads, as long as you are actually adding something to the thread, and not just posting "bump! lol".

You are correct.
I've never seen that track before. It really looks like no fun to me though. So I would say no big loss.

For what I could gather, that kart track was actually intended to make it to the final version. However, that location is right in the middle of a tow separated by two districts. These two districts are in constant war with each other (not actual war, there's no gun shooting and explosions going on). So, in the end, when it came down to name the track and which side would hold the credits for it...all hell broke loose. To avoid any further complications, the track was removed.

A local should be able to provide more info on the matter. This is what I know from something I read some time ago.

We actually have a very good idea why the track was removed. It's removal was also very well publicized from the start of that complaint up until the game was released without it. There's even a massive thread dedicated to cataloging all of this stuff.

Here's the track in a race:
