Race Never Ends

I was hoping someone could help me.
I'll start a b-spec race and walk off, cone back and see that a 5 minute race is actually done, as there is no current lap time and it shows 6/6 laps, but it doesn't end the race and show the times, it's just stuck in an infinite victory lap and the buttons I hit don't do anything. Any advice? Is this because I'm using my own music in the races?

just went through this... first indication that my had laser crapped out on me. i then started getting freezing and disc reading trouble. using an old fatty (60G). all went down over a 24hr period.

i will try and clean laser or replace it, to bring the machine back online, but in the mean time i can't be arsed. bought a new unit.

check if there is another DS3 on. It happened to me once. I turned the DS3 off, came back turned it on and I couldn't do anything. Went to the other room to retrieve the other DS3 and found that it was on. That was the controller that could now control GT5.

trying to reply here... for some reason it's not working???

trying again. same thing happened to me. it was the first indication that my laser was not working properly. within hours i was getting freeze ups and disc read errors. (fatty 60G unit)

at some point i will try cleaning lense and replace it if necessary, but i just picked up a new machine so i could continue on.

Got your controller set to turn off automatically? Press the PS button again to turn it back on, or as another mentioned, if another has been turned on first since the first shut off it will not control the game until you hold down PS and goto controller settings and force the controller assignment to 1.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I had already checked the controller.
The race summary didn't even appear and the total race time just kept going.
I disabled my custom menu music and that seems to have done the trick.
