Racing Videos (Online / Offline)

Driving the Amuse S2000 Tuned for the Fuji Speedway 750pp Pro Online World Event. Captured an aggressive yet exciting battle with a Red Evo.

During this battle with the Red Evo, I would diverge from the best line and dive inside to prevent being punted. After the corner I would regain position again.

This is after the August Patch.
Logitech G25 with clutch enabled.

This video also shows how you can survive racing against a dirty racer. By anticipating what they want to do, you can dodge them and strike back.

I suffered one miss shift after I slipstreamed pass the Evo leading up to lap two, but other than that, I've adjusted my timing to the powershifting penalty after the August patch.

Enjoy.

i dont know how you handle the punting so well, i can never get away from it quite like that. it didnt seem you ran the cleanest race, but i dont blame you for diving under people like that because you know they would do the same. good driving skills none the less

Personally I didn't see any dirty driving. Any contact looked incidental or simple racing the other guy the way he races you.

As for the video, nice race. Very smart of you to brake off line to avoid getting punted. And your driving style is very different. Maybe a little too much drifting in race conditions? Hehe. Also nice to see a RWD car among the AWD legions.

Nice Racing with G25, wheel Rocks hard, while i did feel that was not a very clean race and maybe to aggressive for the racing im use to, but nice going with the G25 wheel, i envy your setup.

too much drifting in race conditions?
True. Done for the thrills to keep the race content exciting. It's kind of my style too, I enjoy driving this way. :)

To me that pretty much looked like you would win the offline events. Lots of cutting the corners a bit too much and still exit wide pushing your opponents pretty much. The Evo driver was a joke, but I would'nt call your driving clean, nessesary maybe, but not clean.

Btw. I need to get myself an s2000, looks like lotta fun compared to the noobish GT-R I usually drive :)

racing line is on. why?

Yeah, i don't get that either, i mean i don't see the line as an assist, but rather as someone standing beside you screaming "IT"S A GAME" in your ear the entire race.
When you had that small TV i understood (i think that was you) , but now?

PD put so much effort in making this game look realistic and then you throw that all out of the window :aarg:

...I know this was aggressive. I got hit too and I would go as far as saying I was hit harder than any of the unintentional paint rubbing that I did if much of any that had any impact. My aggressive driving did not go towards taking anyone out, I was trying to escape the maddness. Those complaining about the racing line and the aggressive driving can grab a tissue box, this is a video game. With this video, I'm sharing what I did in this situation to counter this behavior.

I don't drive this way intentionally unless provoked to do to. The races I had prior to this filming involved the same party of racers. So they knew what to expect this round.

If someone takes a swing at me, I can hold my composure the first incident. But if someone keeps swinging at me, then I know it's intentional and I find ways of fighting back if I don't resort to that same level. Dont' be punk and just sit there and take it. Otherwise you clogg this forum full of stories of how some AWD punted you off the road. Don't let it happen to you.Take control of your situation and do what it takes to counter it.

The same AWD guys doing the same. Paint rubbing is fine in my book, but intentional slamming or block like the Red Evo provoked me to drive the way I did. Instead of taking him out, the best revenge was to out distance him and beat him in the race. And that's what I sought out to do once I figured out he was relentless at driving to punt and slam others off the road. I wanted to chase him to let him know he didn't intimidate me and see how well composed he was if I gave him a good battle. I didn't have to take him out...The GTR did that for me on the straight.

I didn't take anyone out. See it this way....I'm driving a RWD car up front against these AWD bullies. They bang and rub through out the prior races with them. It's all part of the racing.

And thus why the surrent state of GT5P online is essentially an arcade game. Throw the sim elements out the window and embrace the chaos! if that's your thing. I'll stick with Time Trials.

Note: I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with your tactics, just stating that until there's massive changes to the online format we can choose whether or not to play on the field that PD has provided.

Good for you, stick with Time Trials.
Don't take one incident and say it's my thing, that's ignorant.

I'm a clean racer and there are many racers here that know that I am and have witnessed it. Don't go picking up on faults of mine in this single race to make a false image of how a saint you are by identifying the faults of this race.

Sorry, you replied as I was editing my previous post.

Don't be so defensive. I'm not picking/pointing out faults/saintliness of anyone, just the online format in general. PD has created a chaotic free-for-all that is quite apparent in your video (just looking at the other cars, not commenting on any actions of yours) and has almost nothing to do with sim racing.

* - as is jumping to conclusions about my "saintlihood". ;)

Ive watched that video a couple of times and I dont see any dirty driving, just the usual problems with Fuji, lag, punters and bad racing lines. Although I would be a lot more passive on my moves than that, Im with the "no retaliation" crowd. If a punter hits me, Ill just retake the position again cleanly, with the hope that he will notice that I dont need to hit him to gain the place back (But I am in no way suggesting you were doing this, just my explanation of why I dont really do anything touchy to them).

I do however sometimes try and catch them out just like you do with the diving on the inside. Just simple things like hugging the outside wall really close and thus sometimes causing them to hit the barrier when they're following me so closely. Happens a lot on Daytona because of drafting. Another one is to do a switch back overtake really fast (depending on the stability of your car) to avoid them sideswiping or blocking you.

I dont think I'll ever race Fuji again until we get private rooms, I always seem to get laggy hosts which makes a bearable event hell. This is a perfect example of it.
High Speed Ring and Daytona all the way now.

I see your editted comments now. Too late, but it's cool. :)

What I'm about to say is not intented towards anyone specifically.

About the saint point.
In general, I think the comments on (car) forums from people that accuse others or attack others for sharing anything that doesn't resemble the normal behavior come off arrogant on their parts. Their comments to suggest someone did something incorrectly seems to want to suggest that they are the saint, that they are beyond that level. If you can't show that you were in the same situation and demonstrate how you would have done it differently, then remarks questioning my behavior seem to just be an attempt to put yourself in that saint like position. You see this all the time on youtube comments. That's my point.

For those asking about the driving line.
I use a driving line for the obvious reason.

It was just too early to read comments suggesting that I'm a dirty driver that got me defensive that's all. Everyone's comments are welcomed as I take them as insights that others might have about my driving. I just sometimes get irked when assumptions are made. I'm ok with questions to find the truth, but assumptions irk me.

My 2c: Given what he was up against I don't think BO did anything I could find fault with. Fuji is an abomination of a track under current conditions. I spent most of the weekend using a lot of the same moves and some even nastier ones (brake check anyone?) against mainly GT-R's and GTlm's

It's easy to spot the drivers from the planks and respect is paid accordingly. Until they sort out private rooms this is the playing field, it's still a lot of fun but it's more like demolition derby a lot of the time, than proper racing. Make the most of what you have - dealing with punters might be frustrating but my car control has come on leaps and bounds since I've been under attack in GT06, Vette and Viper.

Another good thing is that when you do get a good race, with some decent drivers, those moments are all the sweeter for their rarity.

Bottom line, as I suspect is the case with Breaker, if you punt me repeatedly you'll find I'm evil but if you play the game I'll bend over backwards to make sure you get a fair race.

Couldn't have put it better 👍 +1. Tried being considerate to everyone, but it gets me nowhere, as a lot of people aren't interested in being considerate in return.

Looked like a typically 750PP race to me: cars careening about in a completely unrealistic way. The finish order is as much the result of the way the various bumping turns out as it is of driver ability. I'm just not a fan of 750PP. 👎

Why on earth do you drive with the racing line enabled?

I dont personally use the racing line, but I wish people would stop mentioning it like its for newbies or something. Some people like to use it, they find it useful, why does it need to be mentioned and whats the problem with other people using it?

My friend, who has not PS3 yet, was trying my GT5P. It was totally awful looking driving. Then I remembered this driving line assist, and after couple minutes, he was quite good too.

I dont know, what is the use of it for drivers who have driven same track for hundreds and hundreds of laps.

Why, when we have an online races video thread, do you insist on creating your own threads?

^Racing lines.

Because we are not all the same. Some people can ignore the lines. Some cannot. Some people benefited from the line.

I can assure you, I'm just as fast without the line, I don't turn it off because it's optional, it doesn't affect you, and it's up to me if I want to follow the line or not.

Why, when we have an online races video thread, do you insist on creating your own threads?

Because I don't believe consolidating specific discussion points into one thread that spans over 50 pages make sense for sparking adequete discussions.

Threads that are long...I can bet you that no one reads through all of them. What's the point?

If you have something to share, let it be discussed on it's own. Correct me if you think it's wrong, but I don't believe its necessary to consolidate everything into one thread because too many discussions are trapped in that thread that you don't know what questions are for which person.

I have a video, I could have easily not put a video here and just described my race to get a discussion going about peoples take on aggressive driving and defensive driving. Just because it's a video doesn't mean it needs to belong in the race videos.
