GTPlanet, here is a challenge. Can you recall ANY type of racing when you were born? For example, if you were born in 1990, an example of racing when you were born was when the Silk Cut Jaguar team of Nielsen/Cobb/Brundle was number one at Le Mans in 1990. But after looking at "Le Mans & Sportscar Racer Magazine," the inteded lineup was Nielsen/Cobb/Salazzar. Long story as to why that was so, so you'll have to maybe look online for why the lineup was shifted.

So I'll start.

If I can recall correctly, the Rothman's Porsche 962C won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in my birthyear of 1983. All I know the most about is the car, and I think Derek Bell was one of the drivers of the winning team, if I'm not mistaken. And I think around that time, the Le Mans circuit (as I learned earlier today) had the long straightaway before the circuit had two added chicanes on the high-speed Mulsanne straight. And the Mulsanne straight actually was called the Mulsanne Straight seven years after I was born.

How about you? Can you recall any racing on the year you were born?

i was born in 1990, and earnhardt Sr. Hit a seagull at the Daytona 500, while he was in the lead

August 1964

Closest to my birthday (9th) was the German Formula One Grand Prix held at the Nurburgring on the 2nd.

John Surtees driving for Ferrari claimed victory here followed by Graham Hill for BRM in second place.

This event saw the sad death of Dutch driver CAREL GODIN DE BEAUFORT who was driving for Porche.

God,that was a while ago but here it goes,A.J Foyt winning his last Indy 500,Jackie Stewart in his prime. The first live telecast of the Daytona 500.the list goes on.having just turned 41 this month, I can't recall all of the racing that I have seen, but I do remember seening roadsters at Indy.I think I was 3 or 4 at the time.

Edit; Man I'm losing it,turned 42.

15 May, 1986.

The unfortunate death of the popular Elio de Angelis during a test session at Paul Ricard, driving the low-line Brabham.

1986 was also the year of Nigel Mansell's blowout in Adelade to lose the world championship to Alain Prost, the end of group B rally cars after the death of Henri Toivonen and his co-driver at Corsica, Bobby Rahal winning his only Indy 500 at record speed (at the time), Ivan Capelli winning the second ever f3000 championship and Derek Bell, Al Holbert and Hans-Joachim Stuck winning the Le Mans 24 hr race.

January 16th, 1974: The Argentinian GP was just ended 3 days ago, and Carlos Ruteman must be thinking how in the heck his airbox collapsed and ruined his engine, which gave Dennis Hulme his last Grand Prix victory.

The following weekend, Cale Yarborough would win the Western 500 at Riverside (yes, a road course) from Richard Petty and David Pearson, Benny Parsons, and Bobby Allison.

Give this a try:
