Rally Intermediate Stage

For the life of me, I can't compete in the Rally Challenge Intermediate Stage.
I've tried a number of cars, and I always end up with Epic Fail.
I'm obv not a great rally driver to begin with. I have no information to go on and no idea how to race a rally car, it's never something that has interested me or I thought worth researching (no flames please!)

Can someone provide me with detailed, step by step: dealership, tuning, racing instructions.

Any help is appreciated.

I got lucky with this one because I won the WRC Focus rally car with a level 12 card, which absolutely blew away the competition. If you are a new driver, try tuning your car to the max HP allowed (I think 345 HP), and if you need, might want to use traction control and skid recovery.

Just use a WRC Rally Car : I used the C4 Rally Car, you can win it in the S.Loeb Special Event, or you can buy it for 850.000 Cr. I used that (I have 3 of them, one from the special event, the other two obtained via Special Tickets) and was pretty simple, I was 20-30 sec faster than the AI in each course.

You have 3 of them?
Are you looking for a trade?
Just asking.
PM me if you want to.

The trick to rally racing in GT5 is to not drift. Make sure that ALL assists are off. I used a Subaru STI for the intermediate challenge. I did all mods to it except for turbo I think? There is a HP limit, I don't remember what it is though. Either way though, I was beating the challenge with absolutely zero problems.

Brake early into turns so that you can just punch the throttle on the way out, because exit speed is key to winning.

Do I need to do any particular tuning to the transmission or suspension settings?
Why did you choose not to equip a turbo?

Ok I'll try:

You need a 4wd car. Tune it to max allowed hp, maybe some weight reduction too. Any Impreza should be good for example.

Then turn all aids off except ABS, I used 2 ABS. When driving you need to brake really early and powerslide around the turns. You need to be adjusting the throttle to keep it going smoothly. Try to bring the rear back in after turns as soon as possible to get more speed.

It takes some practice this rallying but when you get the idea this is really the easiest challenge in the game IMO.

There is as many secrets unlocked as there is users... Some say DS3 and it´s impossible with a wheel ;).

I got myself an Audi TT quattro 3.2 fully race tuned. Except engines due to the 345 hp lock. Is it a bad rally car?

I got silver on the first.1 second from gold. Had some misstake so that shouldn´t be so tough. The snow track 2 minute ahead of number 2?????????

Tarmac I have no chance at all to compete on this event.

Also winning the Loeb challenge? How can that be it´s even harder! I got bronze on the first fairly easy. But I have no chance on the other two events despite having tons of experience in rally with colin Mcrae - Dirt 2, RBR, Ralli masters, Ralli championships, Rally Xtreme and what not. Played most rally games arcade or sim. RBR is the only true sim though in my book but I have yet to unlock the rally physics in GT 5 :(

Don't Drift on dirt?
The fastest way around on dirt is a slight drift. (10 to 20 degrees angle)
Don't wag your hind end around (45 and up) and you can go fast. Trying to purely grip on dirt will lead to a lot of understeer.

Brake early = good
punching throttle on the way out is also good.
Tuning car to max allowed power = good

I would also lighten the car a lot to make it nimble on the dirt and snow.

I'm also having trouble winning the Loeb challenge. I beat the dirt ones pretty easily but the snow one I'm having trouble. The one time I actually made it through the course without crashing I was half a second off of bronze. I golded the other two fairly easily.

05 STi Race mod DESTROYS this challenge. It is not even a contest. I was like over a minute ahead by the end.

The reason they say don't drift is because drifting is so closely associated with the sport, which is more about showing off than speed. I guess they just don't want anyone to misunderstand what they mean and zoom in at 90 degrees. I prefer to use the term slide, you need some slide to keep the power up, but maintain as much grip as possible at the same time.

That is what I did as well; I overtook all the other cars in 3 of the snow stages. So easy I was embarrassed, but the stages were too boring to repeat with something else.

I used a 3000GT for the snow and dirt events, easy wins for both. Used a tuned Elise 111R for the road one, only 300hp, but an even easier win there.

I used the DELTA HF Integrale Rally Car '92, which iirc turned up in my used dealership at one point, and seemed to complete the intermediate pretty comfortably. If you haven't managed a trade already, send me a pm with your on line name and i'll send you the car. You can either keep it to complete your event and send back or we'll sort a trade out.

The dirt event wasn't too tough, the road race was easy enough and the snow event was stupidly easy. So stupid i tried to do most of it sideways and still finished about 2 minutes ahead of everyone. It wasn't the most enjoyable event, pretty dull i found.

I used a tuned Hyundai Clix (4WD) '01 Concept, won it from one of the races, dunno which. Absolutely demolished all opponents

i used a WRX STI 2010 tuned it to 345 which is the limit for the inter rally

this thing is made for the rally as i got over 10 seconds lead each round

I used the evo that is won from previous stage in rally challenge. I bought some mods so that HP is 342 and did some weight reduction and also upgraded gearbox to close ratio 6-speed. For the tarmac rally i used my caterham but im sure evo would have worked also nice.

I used a '97 WRX, that I got from a level 5 ticket.

I upgraded to about 339HP.
Didnt do anything special but won the dirt and road ones a few seconds ahead.
The Snow .. is simply ridiculously easy, i wasn't even trying, and even got time penalties and finished the whole thing over a 1min ahead. Waaaay too easy, the AI can't drive on snow on that one.

Keep in mind, the cars you are racing against change everytime, you may be able to get some opponents who aren't super fast if you are lucky.

all i got from the begginer one was a usless 206

Loeb-Challenge = very hard
GT-Rally = way to easy in all 3 Levels

Beginner = used the Civic Type-R
Intermediate = Skyline R32
Advanced/Expert = Subaru WRC 08 (won that with the intermediat Ticket)

Snow is the easiest thing here (overtook all 3 others on expert !), followed by the Tarmac. Gravel is a bit tougher, but you will end up 50sec in front and not 2-3minutes xD
Easy Money and EXP

Tuning wise: All mods made except for performance.

PS from the beginner ticket I got a Mini Cooper 02 which I already had -_- And the Expert ticket gave me a Nissan Bluebird RallyCar -_-

I do fine on the snow event (obv) and can sneak out a win on tarmac.
But I must be an absurdly bad driver on gravel.
I race a clean race, think I do great, then I'm 4 seconds slower on each stage!
And I'm using a Citroen Red Bull WRC car.
How do I rally race?

Try to set the transmission to 50-50, it's set to 70 - 30 default, it helps a lot because with this settings the car is more stable and don't slide so much. Are you still having problems in the intermediate event, or in the advanced? I used the C4 in the intermediate and it was really easy, maybe you're driving with the DS3? I use a wheel, so don't know how difficult is with the pad.

Thanks for the tip, I'll set the transmission up and break out the G27 tonight, once the family leaves.
Been hosting them through the weekend and don't break out the wheel while they're here.
I'll let you know later tonight how it goes.
Thanks again by the way!
Hope you're enjoying your Elise!

I had an Evo V from the beginner challenge. Just tuned it up to 324hp, didn't bother with the suspension or transmission or anything else other than mild weight reduction, and did alright.

The trick to driving on the dirt, especially with an AWD car, is all weight transfer. You're probably having issues with the car rotating but not pulling through the corner, right? You're turning to face the exit but sliding out into the wall.

What you need to do is get weight back onto the front wheels to give the steering more authority, and reduce wheelspin to get more grip to pull you ahead in the corner. If you stand on the throttle you're going to slide outward, let up on it and you'll find yourself moving forward more. If you're not rotating enough, ease up on the gas to get some weight forward, if that doesn't work try braking lightly just to shift the weight. This is also where left foot braking techniques can come into play.

Hey if you have a problem with the Bluebird send it my way, that's one of my favorite cars in the game :(
