This is like rate a car but this time you rate a track in GT2.

Lets start:

Trial Mountain: 78/100 (technical track with good background)

Now rate: Rome Circuit Short

Cool idea!

I'd rate Midfield fairly high in GT2. It's got long sweepers, an S-turn, Turn 4 is bumpy (the left turn just outside of the first tunnel) a tight hairpin, and a HUGE jump just before the main straight. In the Reverse direction, this jump is AWESOME!

And it's got an overall speedy sort of feeling as scenery rushes by. The only bad thing I have to say is it's a rather boring track if you're racing something slower.

90/100

Next: Rome Night

Rome Night: One of my favorite tracks. Handling the chicanes at the start to drifting into the turn before powering down the hill and through another chicane into a nice 180 turn up the hill into a SSR5 type 90 degree turn then a couple more straights and tight turns.
Spent many a night in arcade mode with the collision detection feature on. No fun driving if there's not a chance of knocking your alignment out of whack and having to decide whether to pit or drive the last 9 laps like you're drunk and leaning to the left.

A track where turns flow into one another and where you can keep the speed up on. Momma Bear track. Not too tough, not too easy. Just right.

A track made for a race series. 💡

80/100

Next up: Grindelwald

Awesome write-up OMT.

Grindelwald

LOve this track...always have. Love the uphill section complete with chicanes and esses, the A-frame buildings, the scenery (pixellated as it is, I still have great memories of this track), the hairpins! The huge mountain in the distance, the trolley off to the left side just off-track at the beginning of the backstretch, the COWS at the end of the backstretch where the triple chicane is. :)

The AI screws up and brakes in a few sections where they shouldn't, ruining their rubberband strategy! :mischievous:

The only thing bad I have to say all the damn pop-up at this track.

But I rate it highly: 90/100

next: Red Rock Speedway

@
oldmodelt, this is my video!

About RRV:
Really fast and easy track. I won here with stock R390 in GT All Stars in GT2.

next: Clubman Stage Route 5

Funny thing about this track is a while back I picked up the game again and was going through the license's again from scratch and with trying to get used to the physics again without using the D pad but with the left analog stick it took me so long to pass the license on this track that the game finally gave me the kid's license award. Didn't know what it was until I checked it out at GTP. It's still in my completion screen as that. 👍

High Speed Ring
Very fast track sloping corners and walls close to track. Looks like the old Fuji Speedway. Quite easy to learn. There is only a few corners. AI is good. Sometimes they are really fast. Dont make a mistakes.

Rate: 90/100

next: Seattle Short

It's already been rated by Parnelli, but I'll throw my hat in the ring anywho :)

Great track. It's one of those funny tracks which is easy to drive for beginners, yet is really rewarding when an experianced driver gets it absolutely spot on, such as the entry to the corner going into the tunnel section, and the long sweeping left that follows into the downhill section. Great fun, one of the first tracks I remember racing on in GT2, along with Tahiti Road. High-speed duelling ahoy! All I will say is, it's not as memorable as other tracks...like, it's sort of anonymous looking. It isn't as memorable to me as say SSR5, or Seattle, or Laguna Seca.

84/100

Next...Test Course :D

Test Course. Nothing but longest straights in GT2 with high camber curves. Great track for top hp cars. In my opinion too short. Straights should have around 5km long, curves too.

75/100

Next track: Motor Sports Land

Yea, but see now it's your turn to rate it. You might have a totally different opinion than me. like if this thread keeps going, some tracks will get passed around eventually

For sure Parnelli, and that's what makes this interesting - we all have different takes on the tracks :)

Maniak, I have to disagree with you on the Test Course. I reckon an extra test course track of the length you said, 5km straights+corners, would be good, but I like the relatively short length of the GT2 Test Course, the feeling of speed and hand-shaking control in the corners is enough to get the adreneline flowing for me :sly:

Then again, maybe I'm biased - I do love racing on this track, as this old race report from a few years ago demonstrates :)

As for Motor Sports Land...an interesting course. Good for improving slow-corner technique, which is something I've always struggled with, but always limited in it's replay value due to not being able to properly race other AI cars on it.

66/100

Next track...the mighty Laguna Seca :scared:

This was one of the best tracks on GT2. My favourite part is the corkskrew.

Next Track: Special Stage Route 5.

SSR5: 90/100

I always loved night tracks. The lights on the cars and the darkness makes the racing much more spectacular and dangerous. I've always loved city tracks as well. The feeling of getting really close to the barriers is just something you can never get on a normal circuit. Not even on the Nurburgring. Put these two together and you've got a track I'm sure to like. The main highlight of the track for me is the triple right-left-right chicane near the end. So rewarding to get it right, and hit all 3 apexes perfectly without clipping the walls just with throttle control and letting inertia do the steering.

The only thing keeping it from getting full marks is, of course, its bigger brother: SSR11 ;)

Next Track: Tahiti Maze (and please, tankuroded, when you're rating, say more than just one sentence)

Tahiti Maze- fun rally track that lasted through future GT's with no changes, but the opening isnt supposed to be dirt and the hairpin section will thrash any Cultus around. Other than that one of the few high speed rally courses.
No jumps is better, the jump system in GT2 is horrible (try Tahiti R3, you'll understand)
A nice bold 81/100

Next track- Autumn Ring Mini

Of course this thread will die soon after we get done with all the small number of tracks in the game.

A rather short track. It is a rather fun track though; too bad it's arcade-disc only. 47/100.

Next: Test Course

Laguna Seca in GT2: 70/100

PD did a really awesome job with it in GT2, or at least as good as they could accomplish with the PS1 system. It's their very first attempt at a real-life track. But there are flaws...the usual pixellation and poor graphics. The fact that nothing exists 40-80 feet ahead of the driver, which makes it hard to gauge where to aim the car if the driver doesn't know the track. And the corkscrew is not as tight as it is in real-life.

But it's fun. The Ai can't drive the corkscrew half the time, and it's funny to watch them spin out (Muscle Car races!) like a bunch of newbs. Also, if you break thru the barrier off-track, there's some weird **** out there, some say it's supposed to be the lost "drag strip" that never got included in GT2.

Next: Rome Short :yuck:

Rome Short: 35/100
Like the previous user said, quite simple, and the fact that you have to drive slow cars there doesn't help. Plus it's just a small piece of Rome Circuit.
Next: Super Speedway

Stupor Seedway ....err...Super Speedway is kinda fun. Slightly banked, and without the long straights of the Test Track, it requires some knowledge of how to take long curves and how to drive an oval. One might assume it's easy and boring to drive here (just like the Test Track), but getting good lap times at SS still takes knowledge just like it does at any other track. It's got some decent scenery with the grandstands of "people" and Turn 2 is covered by some sort of huge tarp. 👍 It's not just an oval with repetitive scenery.

But it's got lots of flaws. SS is surprisingly bumpy. Pop-up is really horrible at this track, too. Some cars (some mid-engine autos, especially) have a miserable time at this track, bumping around and getting sideways in a flash. Not realistic in my opinion, not even CLOSE to realistic.

The Ai also drives SS like they've got a case of stage fright; often BRAKING into Turn 1 if I remember correct, which makes it easy to win races here since braking isn't really necessary AT ALL into Turn 1. I remember often using normal tires at SS during race-series which I'd otherwise be using slicks, in an effort to make Super Speedway races as challenging as possible, and then sometimes I'd STILL wind up acres ahead of the Ai.

35/100

Next: Clubman Route 5 reverse

Clubman Route 5 Reverse. Hmmm. Well it has its flaws, being the fact that it is short. The entrance to the tunnel part is very awkward too, and all of the CS/SS stages seem dark to me. Still, the Reverse is more technical feeling than the normal version, so when you actually feel like you're going fast, you ARE going fast. Feels like the Test Course of race tracks, short and fun, but not rewarding. Autumn Ring Mini is much better, even if it is Arcade Mode.
57/100
Next Track: Rome-Night

I found this track fun to drift around. This track should come back in GT5.
Are there any parts of the track the same as Rome Circuit?
7.8/10.

Next Track: Green Forest Roadway

Oh, I also hope it comes back to GT5 as it was a lot of fun to run with a car, though I never drifted on there...

Green Forest Roadway: 90/100

PD did a wonderful job with this track, it has proper scenery unlike the other rally tracks (ahem...SM South), and it's a real shame it faded away. :(
I hope i see this track sometime in the GT series!

Next : Red Rock Valley

PD needs to bring alive the GT2 rally tracks. After GT2, most of the tracks.....disappeared.

Somehow the sunset at RRV gives me a headache sometimes. Not sure why, but I like the straights there. 65/100

Next Track: Pikes Peak

Pikes Peak?

When uphilling, it's 80/100 and when downhilling, it's 85/100.

On uphilling: A realism of a Pikes Peak rally. But, it's full of Suzuki monopoly (which is only in game :indiff:)

On downhilling: Dirt touge FTW! :D

Overall: It's long, but I want see full version of the Pikes Peak. For Pikes Peak's sake: return Cultus and bring me other Pikes Peak cars.

Overall score is: 78/100 and next: Seattle Short.
