Updated the main post with new info about qualifying, rolling starts, and cautions (only for start). Please read and feel free to ask questions.

Qualifying & Rolling Starts:
  • Qualifying begins promptly at 9:00 PM Eastern (refer to the countdown timer above if you're not on the east coast) and will last 15 to 30 minutes.
  • When you have a time you like, pull over to a secluded spot or sit in the pits, while we record your time. If you are unable to complete a qualifying lap in the time alotted, or if you leave or exit the track before we record your lap time, you will start at the back of the pack.
  • If lap times are not registering properly on my screen, I will tell everyone to keep track of their lap times.
  • At the start of the race, drivers will manually line up in formation for a ROLLING START. When the race timer counts down, and the race START message appears, DO NOT MOVE. Stay in the starting grid until the starting line up is called out.
  • We will manually line up in qualifying order. Once everyone is in the correct order, the driver in the pole position will set a pace not exceeding 60 MPH / 96 KPH, and begin the race by breaking that pace. Please do not overtake other drivers until the pole/pace car breaks pace and begins accelerating to race speed. Then, THE RACE IS ON.

Full Course Caution Until Clean Start:
  • This policy applies until we complete one continuous clean lap or two continuous minutes of clean racing on longer courses, without multi-car incidents. We will repeat it as many times as necessary to get an incident free start.
  • If there are any multi-car incidents, where any driver is knocked well off the track by another driver, we will call a FULL COURSE CAUTION. The policy does not apply to individual drivers losing control, even if an offending driver has minor contact with other drivers who continue racing.
  • Once a caution is issued, please do not overtake any drivers, even if you are heading to the pits.
  • All drivers (not in the pits) will form-up for another Manual Rolling Start behind the current race leader, who will maintain pace speed until everyone is in formation again, and restart according the approach used at the beginning the race.

im dead against the full course caution, particular to spa and weather circuits, its gonna take all race to get it right, but oh well
 
Perhaps, but caution will only be if there if someone hits another person, which in turn causes multiple cars to go off track.

Won't apply if multiple people go off track on their own and only for first lap or 2 minutes, whichever comes first.

If we can't drive at least one lap or 2 minutes without causing multiple car wrecks, I think we're doing something wrong lol.

We'll see how it goes :)

hopefully well and not required, all i did was keep my nose clean i really only made 3 proper overtakes and that was between my grid spot and turn one, everyone else just fell off lol,
 
was it just me, or were we missing a few people yesterday?
 
Yeah, we were. But it was people who said they wouldn't be able to make every race.
 
ah ok cool, hopefully this balances out by the end, at this point im not going to be make every race either, you will know 24 hours before,
 
So spa in the rain will be interesting, what % are we looking at, will it be advantageous to run full aero. I haven't ran these tires in the rain, I see in the op that it says comfort tires in the rain are recommended. Interesting, I guess I'll turn a few laps before Friday and see how little grip there is.
 
Starts off at 0% surface water. If we're lucky it won't rain. Around 20% to 30% surface water is probably where you want to switch tires.

Good race yesterday, I was expecting a longer rolling start so I got smoked at the start. From where I was everyone was racing clean and I had a fun race, looking forward to next week.
 
Glad you enjoyed it. The rolling start is something we're still working on. It's just meant to make sure everyone is in the correct qualifying order.

Technically, you're supposed to start racing as soon as you see the guy in front of you slam on the throttle, but I think some people went a little early.
 
Good race, not a lot of action because the track is so big but there were some good battles. Little bit of frustration because I got into an incident on lap 3 which I had no control over. This is one reason I'm not a fan of the full damage. Ended up 1.9 back of phil with a few laps to go only to spin.

After looking at the replay I couldn't help notice that there were a couple people using turbos. I guess this is allowed but it give you about 40 more ft pounds of torque which really helps these little cars.
 
Yeah, turbos/superchargers are allowed, but you must run ballast/reduced aero to compensate since you're not allowed to restrict the engine below around 97 percent or so.

Sorry if you guys didn't know this was allowed. I'll make it explicit.

As for damage, I can understand the frustration that comes from getting damage that wasn't your fault. We've been running these kinds of heavy damage races for over year and I suppose some people have learned to do their best to drive with damage or pit early and bite the bullet. It's a longer race and anything can happen.

Beyond this, please feel free to send me an incident report (doesn't have to be detailed, just tell me what lap and what cars) and I'll look into it.
 
Sorry I could not make it myself. Friday's are iffy sometimes. Next week may work, but I will definitely miss the following Friday (8/3). I am hoping I will be set for a while after that.

On the damage thing... Yes, it can be a pain, but we are all subject to it. It adds a real life component, where winning requires more than being the fastest. It is about tire, gas and pit strategy, and most important, the potential for damage forces you to drive defensively. Yes, you will sometimes pick up damage that is not your fault, but all too often, it is damage you could have avoided -- you have to make trade-offs -- just like real life.

As alefin notes, we have been racing like this since early 2011. You'll get used to it :)
 
Yeah, you guys are right it takes some getting used to. This particular incident after looking at the replay was just a racing incident, the car that I passed dropped a wheel going into the chicane and lost control. Just one of those racing deals.

I don't usually take a defensive line after passing someone unless it is really close, I guess I need to change that. It would have saved me in this instance and seems like the strategy to have down the road.

Hey bud, it's not looking likely that I will be returning to the series due to my new place not being Internet ready

BTW, bud would you be interested in having this series sanctioned as part of a new series venture called W.M.A world motorsports association? You will still be in charge of it but it will grow with our other series aswell
