Choc covered popcorn...hmmm...that's different but sounds good. Sweet and salty are a good mix.

Hers something I make in the mornings sometimes which the kids love and is super easy.

1 can of puff pastry or similar
2lbs. meat of your choice (I like sausage and deer mixed)
cheese of your choice (I like medium cheddar and gouda cheese mixed)
6 eggs
And season to taste of course

Brown all of your meat and then drain well and pat dry with a paper towel, grease is not a friend in this dish.
In any type of dish you like (square is easier) put all of your meat in the bottom
Then beat the eggs and pour them all over and into the meat
Next I like to layer a little cheese on top of the meat (we really like cheese)
Cover it with the puff pastry or similar and then top that with cheese
Bake on whatever heat range the dough you used tells you to since the meat is cooked already, thats it.

This can be changed in so many ways its crazy. Just the other day for lunch I was trying to find something to fix for lunch and did this without the meat and instead of pastry like crust I did layers of tortillas. Was pretty good, just had to cook it at a very low temp as not to burn the tortillas.

HUMMUS

- 2 cans chick peas/garbanzos
- 3 Tbsp tahini (like sesame seed peanut butter, easy to find and keeps forever)
- 2-4 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2-3 Tbsp olive oil
- Crushed red pepper to taste
- Salt to taste

Throw everything in the food processor and blend until mostly smooth. Taste and adjust garlic, salt, and red pepper. This part takes about 10 minutes tops and can be done several days in advance.

I've tried making hummus before and it was HORRIBLE. I used pine nuts, and I guess they were spoiled. Also, I couldn't find a proper tahini, but I have some now. I'm going to try your recipe tonight and see how she is. 👍

Tapenade

1/2 pound pitted mixed olives
2 anchovy fillets, rinsed
1 small clove garlic, minced
2 tablespoons capers
2 to 3 fresh basil leaves
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Thoroughly rinse the olives in cool water. Place all ingredients in the bowl of a food processor. Process to combine, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl, until the mixture becomes a coarse paste, approximately 1 to 2 minutes total. Transfer to a bowl and serve.

I have made something close to that before. I leave the anchovy's (anchovies?) fairly still whole, I just smash them with a spoon a little to break them up nice. Oh, and don't be afraid of anchovy, they can be a variety of fish, they are just called anchovy when packaged. I leave out the capers and the make some texas toast from french bread and use the liquid from one can of the anchovy and put some lemon juice with it and brush it on the toast then brown it slightly with the broiler in the oven. Then top with that mixture and eat. I use baby spinach to top it and also a little red wine vinegar, good stuff, or should I say good eats:dopey:

Crunch Queso Taco Bowl with Rice

(Sorry, that's the best name I could come up with)

1lb. Ground Beef
1 Packet Taco Seasoning
1 Cup White Rice
1 jar of Salsa con Queso(you really only need a couple spoonfuls)
1 bag of Tortilla chips

  • First cook beef as directed on the Taco packet. During this time also start boiling the water for the rice.
  • After the burger is done mix in a couple spoonfuls of the Salsa con Queso(just enough to cover all the beef).
  • Cook 1 cup rice as directed on box.
  • After the rice is done mix it in with the burger mix.
  • Break apart some tortilla chips and mix them into the burger and rice.(NOTE: Wait until the last possible moment to mix in the chips or they will get soggy)
  • Serve and eat.

Obviously like most Mexican food you can pretty much add anything you like.

Add some Sazón to that Crunch Queso Taco Bowl with Rice it would be super.

I just made two a 1 1/2 pound hamburgers to see how full I would be if I ate it. Why? Because there is a place here that sells a 1lb burger that if you can eat it all you get a shirt and picture or something, I can eat that easy. My deal is I wanted to see if I could eat two and go in there and ask them if I can eat two of these "monster burgers" could I get my meal for free! I ate the two I made without much trouble. Instead of buns I used grilled cheese sandwhiches, wow.....that made the burger so good. No fried egg on them though, not my thing.

I edited my hummus recipe to make a minor correction - I usually drain the liquid from 1 can of chick peas and mix the liquid from the other can in with the hummus.

It's not a big point but it helps flavor and texture.

That explains why mine was so dried out. As I said, I had to add a few more Tbls. of olive oil to get it to the right texture.

ok so the inevitable day or reckoning is upon me, yes thats right I offered to cook dinner tonight for me & my partner.

Background:

Usually she does all the cooking, ALL THE COOKING, Unless its bbq, Im a BBQ Master!

We usually eat out most night's considering were both pretty active with our work (maybe 3-4 times a week on average)

The Mrs is a very good cook, always making super tasty meals whenever she can.

Dillema:

Im not exactly the best kitchen cook, I lack knowledge in general kitchen cooking technique and dont have much in mind recipe wise.

I can cook pasta & pancakes but thats about it, I also can set the oven when I feel like making my awesome nacho's which are AWESOME!

What I Need:

A few recipe's or suggestion's for easy meals to cook that will impress, Ive psyched myself up to use any bit of kitchen equipment necessary to get the job done.

Ive done some research online but couldnt exactly find anything that appealing that didnt take an hours worth of prep.

Note: I dont eat vegetables very often, When a dish requires something like onion for example I would need it to be Puree'd/diced super finely.

GTP Brother's any help/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I finish work at 5 today and she wont be home till about 7:30 so it effectivley gives me a 2 ana half hour gap to get to the super market, get home & start cooking

Starter:
Calamari, very easy and so addictive even if you don't like seafood much this stuff is something else =]. You can make this within 10 minutes, of course it'll be longer if the squid isn't prepared. It only needs 4/5 minutes of frying otherwise it will be rubbery.

Main:
Carbonara, again very easy just watch the cheese they use a lot and it overpowers everything. Don't mix the pancetta in the sauce instead place it on top of your pasta to keep it crispy, don't cube cut it into strips. Don't heat this up or you'll curdle the eggs.

I never eat desert so yeah that's up to you. No veg or onions, both dishes are very easy to make and taste good. Serve with a rocket and cherry tomato salad no dressing just parmesan shavings.

This is a recipe for a simple pasta dish that I can cook. takes me about 45 mins. I can really only cook this and a BBQ, thus is very simple

2 600ml jars of tomato paste/ pasta sauce
1 medium onion
300ml cream
about 2 tblspoon stock powder
about same ^ of olive/canola/vegie oil
1-2 teaspoon garlic mince
enough pasta (prob 500g - 1kg)

Method:
1. Put water + a little salt in a large-ish pot for pasta. put on to boil
2. Put your saucepan/electric frypan/wok on with oil on bottom. (use a moderate to high temp)
3. Cut chicken to bite size peices
4. Dice onion roughly.
5. Put the garlic, chicken and onion into saucepan
6. Continue to stir until chicken is cooked
7. turn heat right down and add tomato paste and stock powder. you may need to add about 100ml of water
8. stir around until mixed
9. leave to simmer until pasta nearly ready
10. Put pasta into pot when water boiling

wait

11. when pasta nearly ready, add cream to sauce and stir.

I think we have our winner,

Sounds simple enough, gonna try it for tonight but probably only cook half as much as its only the 2 of us eating.

Cheers,

Chicken Chow Mein

You need:

1 Pack of pre-cooked Chicken pieces (like you would put in a sandwich)

1 Finely chopped Onion

1 Medium size bag of Bean Sprouts (I know you dont like veg, but you can't taste them, it just adds a 'crunch' to the noodles)

1 Bag of Wok Noodles (normally Egg Noodles)

And some Dark Soy sauce, Salt, and Pepper.

This takes literally 5 minutes to prep and cook.

How to cook:

Set the Hob to its maximum temperature and get the wok nice and hot

Add a splash of Olive oil, and through in the Chicken and onion.

Stir until the chicken is brown, then add a generous helping of black pepper and a pinch of salt.

Next put the Bean Sprouts in, cook until they are soft and slightly browned

Last of all, the Noodles. Just stir for about 2 minutes (you must keep stiring and shaking he wok constantly, or the noodles will burn on the bottom of the Wok)

Finally, add about 4 Large spoonfulls of Soy sauce, try some of the Noodles, and then Add more to your taste.

Cheers,

It's ridiculusly easy. I am purely an amature cook, but it tastes awsome. And as a bonus, I just got home from Uni, and we're having this for dinner... WIN!

I also have a recipe for an amazing desert, but i can't remember it of the top o my head. but it has coconut, vanilla, sugar, milk, flour, etc, and you bake it. it comes out with a coconut layer on top, with a sort of custard base and a fluffy reigon in the middle :drool::drool: I want it now!

Cook her a raccoon. Women love it.

Things You'll Need
1 Medium raccoon
4 Medium to large yellow onions
3 to 4 Strips of salted pork
2 cups beef stock
4 to 5 medium to large green apples
2 Tablespoons butter
Dash of cinnamon
1 Cup of bread crumbs
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste

1
Simmer raccoon for 30 minutes in salted water, longer if the raccoon is older and larger.

2
Cut up your apples removing the core and skin.

3
Dissolve the butter along with the cinnamon together on the stove top.

4
Add your bread crumbs, salt and pepper. Combine mixture well.

5
Remove the raccoon from the stock water and allow it to cool.

6
Place mixed ingredients inside the raccoon, much like you would stuff a turkey.

7
Putting the breast side down in the pan, place the legs under the body, securing with a string. Add the salt pork on top along with the whole onions around the outside. Cook for 10 minutes in a 400-degree oven. Lower the temperature to 325 degrees and put in 2 cups of beef stock, cooking for an additional hour and frequently scooping the beef stock and pouring over the raccoon as it cooks. Place in serving dish with a side of vegetables and rice.

Thanks Man, Have printed and kept in a new folder I created last night for this type of thing, its proudly sitting on my kitchen shelves with all but 2 receipes in it so far.

Made the dish last night and it turned out great, I used a Bosciola type sauce which was really sweet, Im snapping because I put the leftovers for lunch today & forgot to bring them to work. I also forgot to run the cream through the sauce before serving which was annoying but it still turned out awesome, Mrs seemed really impressed to, she found it really weird watching me cook though:scared:

No Raccoon's here unfortunantly

For future reference Tony, a Thai red curry is smashingly easy and requires only some chicken, red curry powder, chilli and a pan. Whatever else you want to add is up to you, but that is the base. Google that ^ and enjoy.

I recently got into cooking myself, I decided to eat clean and eliminate all kinds of canned, processed, and fatty foods from my meals. I realized within a week though that I do not understand how cooking works, I can only cook when I have access to google. I noticed that some people just "get" how to create new dishes or easily improvise with known recipes. I tend to screw everything up if I decide to experiment even a little bit with a certain recipe. So far I'm only good at boiling and burning things.

Holy thread revival.

However sharing recipes I think is a wonderful thing.

1 of mine.

Add 1 teaspoon of sugar and a dash of soy sauce to any tomato sauce based dishes, for example spaghetti bolognese. Makes it 10 times better.

9 years? NINE YEARS?

I quite like cooking. Don't really do anything special though. I think Foolkiller has a recipe thread.

Spaghetti and Maple Syrup

I would say most people can make spaghetti with out too much hassle. As always, cook some hamburger to put in there too. Be sure to sprinkle some seasoning in with the burger when cooking it. Also, a melted stick of butter gooes good with just about any pasta meal, so be sure to get that in there all mixed up too.

After that, salt is great for an extra little kick. And for me personally, MAPLE SYRUP is necessary to put on top and then stir it all up. Mmm, and I am not even Canadian!

Wow, I just liked someones nine year old post.

My best advice to anyone would be get an instant read thermometer. Don't over cook meat, and let it rest before you cut into it.

probe-thermometer.jpg

Something like this will monitor temperature as you cook and sound an alarm when it reaches the desired temperature.
