reflects on windshield

As we can see here, everyone has a different opinion about what a realistic FOV should look like. I for example can see all mirrors at once in my car without turning my head. On the other hand many other people have the feeling they sit on the backseat in GT5. Therefore an option would be great. The option we have now is more or less a crappy zoom function.

Yes, Ferrari racing legends, And no it isnt distracting like people make out, It just has to be implemented right, For me it needs to be in the game as it bothered me in gt5
It's a nice effect in Shift but depending on the car and track it is overdone and distracting in Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends (at least on PS3).

Thats the point, it's not even really changing the FOV it's just a zoom in. And you can't even zoom out. All those parameters they have on the photomode for changing the FOV could be just put into the quick option menu for the gameplay. I don't see any problems that it couldn't work.

Personally I like a pristine view when in cockpit cam. But GT World is a clinically perfect environment. I kind of like the no distraction approach in FOV and only concentrate on the driving and track etc...

However...from a "realism" point of view light reflections could just be the start:
Bird poop, bugs, road grime from leaking cars all of which gets smeared across the windshield in a mess from worn squeeking wipers. Uggh, then it won't get cleaned until you pit where it's an added chore for the crack PD animated pit crew.

Also the bird droppings and bugs would be area specific. Daytona would feature Sea Gull poop in addition to those horrible Love Bugs. Man, what a mess those things create. How about some deers along the Nordschleife at night in the rain, hmmm? Smashed windshield along with some serious full damage-dang antlers. So many wonderful distractions to seriously turn GT into the REAL Driving Simulator!

Well GT feels definitely too steril, I don't like it. If others do like it then it's fine as well. But windshield reflections even on the screen give you a way better feel of being inside a car. Saw it in Shift and now in FM5 and Drive Club. And it looks pretty good and more natural then the hyper anti dirt and reflection windshieldglass in GT5.

I think I can solve this whole, "Pam/Pan" situation.

You should be busy looking at the road not the reflections on your windshield :sly:

This always annoyed me, saying that you COULD care less means you DO CARE.

Idioms that make little sense when dissected...This hits the nail on the head! (Am I wrong for typing that without a hammer and nail?)

I guess both are petty distractions, although in real life, you could have a polarized visor/sunglasses, but you wouldn't be able to remove the glare in the game unless the option was available.

Formula 1: Championship Edition '97 for the PSX offered a "lens flare" on/off option, which offered a similar distraction, but along the lines of a camera pointed at or near a light source, rather than the more encompassing glare of the sun in (or at the corner of) one's own eyes.

Every windshield angle and rake is different, each car reflects the light differently based on the composition of the windshield and dashboard, so no two are going to be the same.

Maybe just have lighting effects vary by the position of the sun in an endurance race, such as increased contrast when driving into the sun, and increased color saturation when away from it...modify the values with the sun's angle relative to the horizon.

It's more realistic but the downside would be that it would take more time to add to every car with cockpit, has to appear in GT7 or GT6 with updates, i don't want PD to waste time on this, Customization, Sounds, Tracks are what they should focus on right now.

The thing is, I don't care for this. I mistakenly wrote that and actually meant "couldn't care less". :grumpy:

You don't care for what, exactly? I didn't read your post, so this wasn't directed at you. It was a lighthearted attempt to illustrate how so many people say it wrong.

Oh than my mistake than, I thought it was apart of what I "mistakenly" said. Oh and when I said "I don't care for this", it was basically directed at this idea not your post.

Yup, Shift did it pretty good, TDFRL is a whole other story, in many ways it feels like it was finished before both Shift titles.

Not bothered at all about windshield reflection even if its an PS4 game. Pretty distracting unless you drive on a very dark road.

I imagine if someone finally implemented reflection on helmet windshield. So you'll see bobs face throughout the race.

If it's dynamic, maybe reflections are not bad, but if they were static like in rFactor 2 it is pretty anoying.
