Rekindled affection for NASCAR

Having spent an eternity finally acing the Gold NASCAR series, I was quite put off afterwards and reluctant to use NASCARs again. The Nascar remote events seem to have really rekindled my affection for just how tense these races can be.

I was hosting last night and entered the 20 minute Daytona event which pretty much kept me gripped the whole time.
Generally, unless I like the event I tend to start the race and walk away for a while but I found myself mesmorised from the start!

Bob started in 7th, fell behind to 9th before performing a blinding piece of overtaking where he took 3rd on the second corner and joined 1st and 2nd place to form a trio far in front of the rest of the field. He spent the rest of the race taking 1st place, losing it and then falling back into third where he drafted back to 1st. He ended up coming in 2nd place, losing out by .155 of a second and I have to say, provided the best race I've witnessed in quite some time.

I promptly entered the B-Spec NASCAR series where Bob absolutely dominated.

Lol. I see I'm not the only one.

To be perfectly honest, I was never big on NASCAR from the start, however GT5 made me realize how much skill the sport actually takes.

NASCAR will be the only remote races I could sit down and watch.. that is unless they add F1 in the remote races.

Question, though. Did you need to babysit your Bob and what level is he? Cool head of hot head?
I'm curious because I finished the sepereate races in the NASCAR cup, but didn't finish the championship. :/ Lucky me.

Yeah, in the actual B-Spec Championship I had to sit there and babysit him a little though the non-stop nannying was really in the first, second and last races.

I had tried the Championship beforehand with a level 30 Bob who was all the way in the cool and could only manage bronze and I was screaming at him all the way so I tried again with another level 31 who was fairly hot and could only just muster a silver by doing the same.

In the end I left it for a while determined to try again once my driver levels were a little higher. When I finally got gold I raced a level 38 Bob who was just smack in the middle between hot and cool.

In the championship I finished first place in all but the second race and the final one at Daytona. I'll try to give an account of each race though I really don't recall the exact names of the tracks and the order they came up.

Indianapolis:

Spammed overtake until he took the lead and then spammed increase pace until he won. He won by a fairly large margin in the end so it was pretty unneccessary to spam him. Just a tap of the go faster button every lap would probably have worked too.

The Second Race:

Epically failed. I told him to overtake only on the start/finish straight and the big bridge straight and told him to calm down just after the downhill hairpin. No matter what I did, Bob shredded his tyres on the twisty bits just before the first tunnel, wiped out and just couldn't recover. He finally ruined his tyres to the point where he wanted to pit in on the last lap so to be honest I ended that race myself. Should have looked for a decent NASCAR tune on here with this one.

The other races I used overtake on the straights where I could and only used increase pace when he cooled off to the point where he starts getting a little complacent. Hitting it once a lap was enough to remind him he was racing and not cruising. Easily won.

Daytona:

Spammed overtake as much as possible but as always with this track, unless you have the right settings for the car (which I did not at the time) he usually ends up out front in a pack of three who just draft each other contantly swtching places until the finish. In the end I got second place by just under a second though this was more down to random luck than actual skill. Lots of people have problems with this track so I wasn't too worried. I finished with enough points overall to win the series so I guess all was good. When I have the time to find the correct settings for the car then I'll go back with an even higher level Bob and ace it properly.

Hope this helps.
