What is everyone's thoughts on an online reputation system that grades your safety on the track. Dangerous players that cause frequent crashes will be marked and can be booted from games.

A reputation system could easily be abused [loser]that dude is really fast, i couldn't even hit him off track, oh wait i'm gonna badrep you [/loser]

I'm not saying it is a bad idea, but we're talking about online gaming, it WILL be abused.

I am all for a rep system but it has to be one that is very difficult to abuse... perhaps something that shows your rep but doens't do much with it, but allows host or room vote kicking. This way you could see a bad rep and know to watch for that guy, then kick them if they don't race clean.

i hope there is a permanent ban option, so any races I create will block anyone I have booted in the past unless I take them off the list.

A safety rating left up to the discretion of players is bound to be abused. Polyphony instead should program a monitor into the online aspect. This monitor would grade you based on how safe you are and assign you accordingly.

based on the penalty system already implimented in prologue.... we can see that a program cannot always correctly determine who was at fault. For example when someone brake checks and you run up the back of them.... the person running up the rear gets a penalty..... when if a person were to be judging it they would clearly see who was really at fault

Problem I see with that is, how do you know who's fault a collision is?

Let's say you are in a race and 3 people smack into you because they all suck. You are now rated less safe and stuck in races with more sucky people, you get hit more often becuase of it...

This leads to a never ending spiral and makes it hard for anyone legitimately bad to get better because they are constantly stuck in races with other bad racers.

I dont like, or think a system of online grading of players safety would ever work as intended. Like Flash said that is what private rooms are for.

I do like the "skill" rating as in Supercar Challenge, such a thing in GT5 could give you a skill rating based on...Wins, Poles,Podiums, contact free races, races without penalty etc.

what about to ban player who's an idiot driving or to bumping other off the track then have to ban him for a week as warned. 2nd is 30 days banned. like this. it will be nice to treat them to learn how to clean run with the rest of us in the race,

While private rooms are good if you know who you're gonna race beforehand, sometimes you just wanna race whoever is available, as long as they're respectable drivers.

I think a rating system where all the drivers in the last race have to flag you before you get banned for a week would work. If you get flagged by 12 or more drivers, you get a day ban. It'll be pretty hard to abuse that.

again the problem with systems like this is that they are easy to abuse..... lets say you join a race which happens to be 10 other guys who are all mates.... you absolutely annihilate them on the track.... if they are pricks they arrange to all give you some sort of bad rep and next thing you have a ban... all because you were better than them and they didnt like it.

best and easiest way to fix problems is with private rooms. Only race with ppl you know or when you have the ability to remove ppl from your lobby.
