Sweet. I can do those first corners on Autumn ring mini reverse, its one of my favourite tracks for just messing around.
Maybe my drifting is coming along then.
Often I'll see one of the better videos and it just depresses me, at least I know I'm getting there.
Yay! for me.

NK, nice job. You're not going to get a "pefect" run with no brakes. That's not at all the point. Instead, you are to learn the ins and outs of the line and of course the mysterious feint :D

I know its not the point but now I know how fragile the s2000 is and how the LSD on the Rx7 opens up a bit then opens up a bit more at the last second.

Way to go NK! It seems almost impossible for me to do what you had done in trial mountain. The angles were real great! Thanks for that reference video of yours! You make me so eager to master the drifts now!

Texan, your's ain't that bad either! I can see my drifts are more similiar to yours. You just gotta admit that NK was indeed a master in those drifts. We both gotta work hard to catch on them!

Cheers to both of you! Many thanks for the videos! I will post mine very soon!

Texan, that's good effort!

The main thing I see right now from only watching half of the lap is that your late in every corner. For instance the left hander(with the yellow hash marks) that go from tunnel to tunnel. You should be feinting IN the first tunnel and coming out of the drift as you enter the second. ONce you you hit it correctly, it looks and feels really good.

I'm really starting to like this thread. Lots of helpful info and videos. I just may have to add it to the "Look here before you ask" sticky. :D

Also, I think I'll make a video for Trial Mountain. Just to give more examples of what you can do.

Guys your all coming on great... I've been a bit of an "observer" in this thread, and I've been a bit distant with GT4 lately, but you're all progressing really well 👍

NK - that's one hell of a video! How do you manage those angles??

Anyway guys, even though I've said it before, you're all doing great!

Its all somewhat Feint but from learning how to drift the S2000 helped me learn what needs to be done, I thinking I can do a better job than that but eh.

Looking at what's going on in this thread... It's amazing how much easier it will be to help people once we can play online consistently. I mean, you could potentially show someone the ropes in 15 mins or less. Escpecially if they can view the replay from inside the car.

Sorry, just looking forward to GT5 and having drift fun online. :)

Well, wouldn't it be more easier if it was online play? Just like GT5 promise. But we still have enough time to enjoy GT4.

edit: I read it wrong WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA T_T

Uh...that's exactly what I said.

Its not as good as the video that got screwed, but the best I could pull yesterday with a tension headache.

Thats the main thing im working on now is my entry line. Im staying mid-track most of the time instead of digging into the apex. That was the smoothest lap I had, ive gotten the steering down pretty well yesterday, getting smoother at countering. A time or two on that vid I think I countered too much and went into a wall. Most the corners I did not-so-well on, I normaly do decently. Today Ill try doing Deep Forest like normal. Maybe pull the Pajero out too!

The no brakes thing really helped on some things, mainly entry speed. 👍

nice video NK, I wish I could drift like that....well I guess I have some work to do. And did I read that right is there not going to be online play with GT5 :nervous:

-cough-xlink-cough-

That reminds me to go pick some cable this weekend... I need to hook mine up.

You can only watch the replay once AND it's beyond unreliable. Granted, better then nothing. But not as good as something like PSN or Xbox Live.

I do hope to see in action on trial mountain Swift! You are one of those which has inspired me with drifting!

About adding this thread to "Look here before you ask", if you do want to add it, i think there are some posts which need to be deleted so there future users can search more easily.

And, many many thanks to all members here who had been active in this thread making it so meaningful! I do find it real useful for beginners to learn.

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to all the people that have helped me because of tonight I am able to drift through every corner of Trial Mountain, The car I did it in was The Mazda RX-7 Infini III (FC, J) '90 and my time was 1:58:638. So again thank you guys for helping me out ** Jordan, Boundary Layer, Swift, Ske, Clanegie, Nk4e, DORIFTO N()B, Revheadnz **

Here are the settings I use NK :)

F/R = Front/Rear
Tires N2/N2
Brake Balance F:3 R:17
Spring Rate: 6.2/3.8
Ride Height 102/102
Shock Bound 8/3
Shock Rebound 9/4
Camber Angle 3.5/1.0
Toe Angle 1/-2
Stabilizers 3/2
All aids off

and the transmission auto set at 9 and the HP is about 250

Oh man....i will try to get those settings on my FC and try it out too.. Wanna feel how you are drifting ur fc!

Cheers brother!

I've just got my TV Tuner card, and its working alright for now.. But are you guys still having problems on youtube? I can't verify my email, therefore unable to upload any videos!!!! So angry at it. After spending so many hours trying to get a lap captured, now it can't be uploaded!!

Also, i tried to make a short video by combining two videos in one using Windows Movie Maker. But i will always get an error when i try to import my Mpeg 1/2 videos captured from my tv tuner. Anyone experienced such problems?

Is there any other Video Maker that is good?

Ok guys, its time for me to take some negative comments from you guys. And i want al kinds of negative comments and advise tha you all can give.

Please provide me what i can do to improve!

Not bad my friend. Very not bad.

Right now, you biggest challenge is going to fast. You're flying low man! :) It's hard to get those nice angles going so fast.

But your lines are pretty good. I would go so far as to say your lines are exactly right in the smaller corners.

How to get better
  1. SLOW DOWN!!!! From what I saw there you were cooking. Now if that's what you want, cool. But it's hard to put together speed and angles(in GT4). I would say around 80 km/h is a pretty good entry speed for most corners on TM.
  2. Feint harder. Right now your doing some pretty soft feints. Excellent for starting out. But if you want those high angle drifts that look like the car is on a swivel. Swing the feint a bit harder.
  3. Keep having fun! Don't let frustration get to you. If you feel that coming on. Do something else in GT4, run a quick regular race or just earn some money for more parts.

You're a lot better then you gave yourself credit for. 👍

Positive: when you get better at Feinting, more crazy lines will be come more clear to you. on that note, use like your imagination on your lines. Its possible sometimes but some of us won't think of it at the time unless we can do it.

I agree with swift on all the negative things.

what are your settings for this S2000?

i have only been drifting for a short time too, and i have the disadvantage of the DS2, (i swear its easyer with a desent wheel) but where i can see the drifts are being cut short not by the angle your at, i think it might be a slight adjust on rear suspention and LSD and you should be able to drift just a little longer and a little more controlled.

all together tho you are doing quite well (keep practasing)
