Has anyone come close to retiring a B-spec driver? I'm just wondering how many races a driver can do in their lifetime. I'm going to need to start concentrating on my other drivers if it's close. I'm at 42 races with my first driver. I haven't even maxed his stats so I hope I get to do that before they start going down again.

I recall reading in the manual that at some point down the road, your driver will reach its peak and start to decrease in performance, I am not sure when that is but I assume its sometime after you maxed his or her stats.

No they will start to deteriorate apparently, when you view your drivers, there is a 'career bar' and measuring from eye, i'd say each driver can do about 400 races or so.

Hmm, that's pretty strange. Hopefully they'll be able to do a lot of races before they start to lose their ability, otherwise B-Spec might be a pain in the rear.

I almost retired my first driver after while driving in a McLaren, he launched a Golf in the air at Eiger while trying to pass him (key word is trying, because he didn't try and pass him he just drove into him).

When you say 400 races, you mean 400 races completed? (As shown in the driver stats)?

Read the manual people...it has a lot of useful information.

I'm hoping I can level him up to 40 before he starts to suck too bad.

... I'm beginning to wonder if the drivers have tracks that they just cannot master. I've sent my 1st driver to Grand Valley East a total of 3 times now, where he just refuses to acknowledge that your foot needs to be used for breaking as well. Instead, he attempts to slide around 3 of the turns before the tunnel and 1 after; I'm being driven absolutely bonkers. And yet he's absolutely brilliant on other circuits. :boggled:

Well you know the saying... if you ram a square peg into a round hole you get nowhere.

My best advice here is to keep running him and finish out the races just to up his levels.

Mine can not race at Daytona on the oval to save their lives. They can muster up 187 in my 898hp R8, I jump in the car and can hit 237 no worries.

So far my oldest driver has 88 races and is not yet at the middle of the carreer bar, but it is close though. So I guess the bar is about 200 races lenght but I don't think you are forced to retire him after that. Surelmy it will start to decline at some point.

Not to mention their career keeps moving even when you race another driver... My First driver has done around 160 races, think bar is like 20%...

Don't think that is going to happen. I belive it is for simply deleting your driver and picking a new one..

I think its when their experience bar gets full, so quite a while. My first driver has something like almost 60 (EDIT: almost 80) races under his belt. Though I'm not totally sure if this is how it works.

I have been looking into this recently because my oldest Bob has been on a slump for a while. That arrow on the top right of his helmet has been pointing down for a long time. He has 102 races, has won 60% of them, but lately I have started doing remote races and he is still on a slump. While my junior Bobs are bringing a lot of money, the old Bob brings in less money. I have attempted to let him sit for a few days, trying to see if giving him some time off will make him improve. Nope, he is still on a slump.

When I started Remote Racing he was a level 20, a few days later two of my new Bobs have higher levels (but less experience) than him. So, I am wondering about retiring him. Looking for info on driver retirement I found a GT5 page from Singapore that says "once past their peak, their abilities will start to decline, and at some point in time you will have to retire the driver."

So, is my first Bob past his peak at 102 races? Maybe yes. Maybe not all Bobs can fill up their careers. Maybe it's time for him to retire and time for me to hire a new Bob to replace him. Has anyone else have had a Bob on a slump that has recovered from it? If so, what did you do to cheer him up? Buy him a beer, maybe a hooker? Take him for a spin on Beginner B-Spec races?

Also, if I retire a Bob, can I bring him out of retirement later?

@sanmusa There is almost nothing you can do to cheer your Bob up except give him time. At only 100 or so races he's nowhere near retirement yet. He hasn't even reached the peak of his performance. When it's time to retire him the bars in his performance stats will show striped yellow as opposed to the normal green. When that happens he's on the decline and will never recover.

In order for him to perk up you need to be clocking up race days but not remotely as I don't believe these count.

It's kind of sad really. If you think of it, it's kind of like an old friend slowly dying. Then if you think about it even more, you remember all of the good times you've had with your Bob. I know he's just a computer, but he/she has helped you through your b-Spec.

My oldest Bob (first Bob I created on day one) has participated in 3,868 races, winning 2,444 of them, and still is as competitive as he has ever been. I have seen no decline in his ability to run and win races. Same goes for my other Bobs who have each participated in over 2,000 races. Their bar is full of course, but no decline in their abilities.
