They don't have to be chrome.:reallyodd I guess when most people think of "dubs," they think of big flashy chrome 20" wheels. I consider any 20" wheel a dub. It could be a 20" gold wire wheel, or black or something, and to me it's still a "dub." Btw, I do call the wheels on those new Dodge trucks "dubs.":P

why does everyone use the phrase "rice" when talking about a asian car, wether it manufacturer or the way it is modified. i would see at as if someone had said dub's on a car or truck would be "n!@#$%" or sorry i must be politically correct "black". or someone called a american car a pos cause of the lack of quality.

sorry about the rant, i am just pissed how everyone says that about asian made cars.

To me it's not an asian car thing exclusively, anything can be rice. IMO rice is any kind of car that has mods to make it look fast(or just poorly done mods that don't look good at all) while basically ignoring the engine bay and suspension.

I drive an Eclipse Spyder with some nice mods on it. I hear rice all the time so I kind of accept it. And that truck is riced out no matter how you look at it. The rest of GTP can assurre you that I'm for modding your car but not stupid looking.

I was actually referring to this.

People are calling the S-10 rice and its an American car. He says people only call asian cars rice. So he's wrong. Hence, my post.

Ah ok. And well as you can see this truck is techincally riced out by most peoples standards. Hell even I think its riced out.

Ya well I'm trying to change that as you can see in another thread of mine.

Well that wasn't the main idea

No but like when people say riced out American cars...like I did...there needs to be a different term for different countrys in which cars come from.

I believe the term "riced" does not refer to the car, but the owner. The originators of showboat-only car modifications were supposedly first made by Asians (and by that I mean those in Asia). Whether the car was German, American, Japanese...the car was often distastefully modifiied. Since Japanese cars were the econoboxes of choice here (as they pretty much are everywhere else), those who wished to "soup up" (another lame term) their car did so initially with Asian cars.

Thus the term is often applied correctly, but for the wrong reasons. It is not because the car is from Asia (a "rice eater"), but the owner modified like a "rice eater". Thus, a "riced" car. So if blue-eyed, blond-haired Johnny American decided to put a TOCA wing on his V6 Mustang, the extreme lack of design sense would be synonymous with Hideo Motoroti in Japan putting 20" wheels on his Japan-market VW Bora. They're both ricer idiots. ;)
