Hey, Quick question, what GT6 tires do you think would be realistic for a '66 GT40 racing at LeMans.

There's no lap time to compare yet, searching ..... :( Older racing tire were not as grippy as modern slick. I would start by finding lap time at shorter track like Laguna Seca, if there's one. I think fitting CS or SH is a good start.

It seems after my experience building GT4 replicas and taking consideration of the my older build like the FD2 Civic Type R One Make Race Car above ( modern period cars ), Sports Medium or between SM and SS ( depend on cars ) roughly simulate modern hard compound slick. Most of my GT4 uses SS, and most of them can be 2 to 4 seconds quicker than real life qualifying lap at Silverstone GP.

Notes :

The NSX GT2 was entered in 1995 Le Mans, the car number 84 driven by Akira Iida, Kunimitsu Takahashi, and Keiichi Tsuchiya. It became the class winner.

This replica is based on that same car. I did a lot of research to find details and specs. Some of them can't be achieved accurately. There have been different weight figure, 1043kg and 1050kg. The GT6 NSX LM can only go as low as 1045kg. Power is at 380HP, but later on the NSX GT2 with different chassis has 400HP power in 2001 when it raced in European Endurance series. The Gran Turismo version on PSX has 549HP power and 1050kg. This power level can't be achieved in GT6.

I based the suspension on the 2001 update NSX GT2 to compete with modern race car spec. The suspension uses Eibach springs and Dynamic Damper System. I set the spring rate to similar ratio as used on JGTC NSX as the value range is not reachable in GT6. This should give similar handling albeit at softer overall rate. I have also setup the damper, ARB and alignment to work with the extra rigidity applied and include a damper setup for non body rigidity for those who don't want to apply the irreversible upgrade.

LSD is 1.5 way, with high preload and lock to ensure stability. Gearing is based on Hewland 5 Speed Sequential as it used on 1995 Le Mans. I adapted the current Hewland offering of 5 speed sequential for MR cars, the ratio and finals are taken from the Hewland catalogue, aimed to replicate the top speed during the race at close to 280kmh.

The NSX GT2 Team Kunimitsu has been tuned and tested at La Sarthe, Silverstone GP, Special Stage Route 5 and Motegi East Course. It can lap SSR5 in 1:28s and Motegi East in 1:27s on SM tires.

ENJOY :cheers:

Notes :

Wow, I have heard this car is unruly and a beast to drive :lol:, so I bought it and drove it, to my surprise it was one of the easiest GT3 car ( similar to SLS AMG GT3 ) :D. I did simple suspension and LSD tweak to make it even more fun while easy to drive ( well for me :lol: ). Tested and tuned at Brands Hatch GP and Mt Panorama Bathurst. With above tune, it managed 1:22s at Brands Hatch GP and easy consistent 2:07s at Bathurst.

The Z4 has very sharp handling, nimble in low speed corners, be smooth and steady, trail braking is highly advised for better lap times.

Hello, you think the ride height 55 59 to Spa is too low?

Yes, you might bottom out on eau rouge, the down then up hill climb after 1st corner. If you are running low aero or stiff springs, you might do okay with 55 59. You should do fine using my tune, but avoid hitting curbs.

Indeed, but i'm not sure if its too soft or too stiff, have to do some more tests.

Notes :

This car was originally built as replica of a Mustang race car, but I decided to tune it for a set PP level.

From research, I found several different weight distribution figure from 57/43, 55/45 and 52/48. In this 450PP build, I provided 2 set, 57/43 and 55/45 and 52/48 is not possible. Power is modest 273HP with 1450kg weight. Nothing fancy, hence the name cookie cutter pony :lol:

The Mustang has 2 set suspension based on 2 different setup, one is based on Blue Moon Control Freak IRS Kit for the rear end and the other is Cortex Racing Xtreme-Grip Kit similar to their SCAA Spec Mustang setup. Both setup works well on all weight distribution as I setup suspension for all around performer.

The LSD is setup with high preload and high lock to maintain stability and traction, roughly based on Traction-Lok Ford Racing Differential with custom Carbon Clutch upgrades. Not really accurate, but it perform exceptionally well even on comfort/street tires.

For gearing, I adapted Tremec TR6060 Close Ratio gearbox with custom final. The 4.900 final allows lower top speed and rapid acceleration.

The Cookie Cutter Pony was tuned and tested mainly at Tsukuba. The 450PP was able to lap in 1:05s range on comfort soft at Tsukuba using Control Freak IRS + 55/45, pretty decent for a Mustang. It has also been test driven at Bathurst and Nordschleife, and it drives quite well without much drama.

I have also included a replay of the 1:05s lap at Tsukuba which should be good for reference.

ENJOY :cheers:

UPDATE : Fixed 57/43 ballast position.

Notes :

The Civic One Make Series was a long tradition in Japan which has been run for over 30 years. It stopped briefly in early to mid 2000's, replaced by Integra Series. With the return of FD2 Civic Type R, the series reignited with Civic back on the spotlight.

This particular replica is based on Championship winning car driven by T. Matsui, the Mugen/ATS/TEIN Tokai sponsored car fought a fierce battles throughout the years from 2008 to 2010 against Nobuteru Taniguchi and several other high profile race drivers. The winning formula is a good setup suspension and LSD as other variable are controlled in one make series ( power/weight/tires/gearbox )

After long research back in GT6 release days, I collected various information about the Civic Type R One Make model. The car was sold officially by Honda Japan at cheaper price - about 1.6 million Yen, compared to vanilla road going model at 2.6+ million Yen. The One Make FD2 omitted many parts from road going model, thus making it strictly track car. Most of road car requirements are gone :

Mechanical
* Helical Limited Slip Differential

Interior

* Honda R Spec seat
* Leather steering wheel
* Drivers metal foot rest
* I-SRS airbags for driver and passenger

Other Equipment

* HID headlights
* LED high mount stop lamp
* Full auto Air Conditioner
* Keyless entry system
* Security Alarm and Immobilizer
* Power Door Locks
* Passenger and rear seat
* All seatbelts
* Sun visors and vanity mirrors
* Center console
* Roof lining, carpet and all other lining
* Under car protective coating, tools, warning flare etc

This gives the Civic FD2 One Make much lower base weight when bought, but racing car preparation, like safety roll cage, suspension, LSD parts also add some fat to the car. The road going Civic Type R FD2 has about 61/39 weight distribution at 1260-1270kg. Removing AC cuts the weight to 1250kg. After some research about weight savings, I decided to use 1220kg and 60/40 distribution. This is a realistic figure based on about 50+kg saving from the omitted parts and added safety roll cage.

Power is based on several Honda Civic FD2 Type R One Make Race Car exported overseas, built by Mugen, the car was dynoed on engine dyno with 235HP output and slight torque increase across the board. This is possible due to the Mugen parts like ECU and Racing Exhaust. Redline should be at 9000 RPM.

The Mugen SSR/TEIN/ATS/Tokai Civic replica is fitted with TEIN Circuit Master Super Racing - Ultimate Spec Coilover, I chose this as the more preferred TEIN SRC Circuit Master Type N1 Damper base spring rate are not possible ( too high ). The TEIN SRC Ultimate Spec is specialized for circuit racing use, offering significant drop in ride height, 10kg/mm front springs and a host of rear springs options ( 8/10/12 kg/mm ). The real car uses lower rear ride height and slightly higher front ( 1 in higher ) to maintain weight balance under heavy cornering. This translate to 100/75 ride height and can be compared to the real car pictures, although the real car is a bit lower overall - about 10 to 20mm - not possible in GT6 as the lowest is 75mm :)

I have setup the damper, ARB, camber and toe to work on all spring rate combination and ride height. Try them all and choose one that suits you best. The real car suspension setup is best replicated using my personal setup suspension listed at the top above, with high camber, and 97/75 ride height. Visuall ride height and camber has been replicated as well.

Gearing is stock as used on on make series, while LSD is special model build from Active Traction Service ( ATS ), this particular LSD is specially tuned to Mr. Matsui spec which help him winning several races. The ATS LSD is 1 way, based on Silent Type Metal disc model line up, with 20 disc/plates, 70 degree cam angle ( high lock ) giving distinct throttle induced car control freedom and medium preload at 8kg-m. The LSD can be setup for lower cam angle at 45 and 55 degree by cam ring rearrangement, I have provided both setup as options below :

LSD - 1 Way ATS Silent Type Metal LSD type R - Matsui Spec - 20 Disc/Plates -Optional 45 Cam Angle
Initial Torque : 19
Acceleration Sensitivity:31
Braking Sensitivity: 5

LSD - 1 Way ATS Silent Type Metal LSD type R - Matsui Spec - 20 Disc/Plates -Optional 55 Cam Angle
Initial Torque : 19
Acceleration Sensitivity: 37
Braking Sensitivity: 5

To get as close as possible to the real life performance, I used lap times record ( race and qualifying times ) at 3 different track that are available in GT6. Suzuka, Twin Ring Motegi Road Course and Fuji Speedway F are the 3 tracks that are regulars in Civic One Make Race Series. The tires is Sports Soft which is comparable to the Yokohama Advan Racing Slick used in the One Make Series ( most probably ADVAN A005 )

T. Matsui held the pole time record at Twin Ring Motegi with 2:10s lap and quickest race best times at low 2:12s, while at Fuji Speedway, race best times at low 1:57s and Suzuka race best times at 2:23s flat. The qualifying/pole record times at Fuji and Suzuka is unknown, but roughly about 1.5 to 2+seconds quicker than race best times. Expect the replica to lap in 1:55s at Fuji, 2:20s at Suzuka and 2:10s at Twin Ring Motegi Road Course.

I tuned and tested mainly at the those 3 tracks, and the replica can easily lap in 2:20s at Suzuka, 2:10s at Twin Ring Motegi Road Course and 1:55s at Fuji Speedway F.

Below are the 3 best lap replays of the track for reference.

Personal Setup Ride Height 97/75

The 450PP was able to lap in 1:05s range on comfort soft at Tsukuba, pretty decent for a Mustang. It has also been test driven at Bathurst and Nordschleife, and it drives quite well without much drama.

I have also included a replay of the 1:05s lap at Tsukuba which should be good for reference.

ENJOY :cheers:

Does the Blue Moon + 55/45 gives the best balance ? Less understeer/better rotation ? I'm glad the "cookie cutter pony" works :lol:

Thanks for the correction, the ballast position is fixed, now I need to fix the other two :D

The 57/43 isn't bad at all neither, just I feel better with the 55/45. :)

Which other two to fix?! :confused:

Mechanical
* Helical Limited Slip Differential

Interior

* Honda R Spec seat
* Leather steering wheel
* Drivers metal foot rest
* I-SRS airbags for driver and passenger

Other Equipment

* HID headlights
* LED high mount stop lamp
* Full auto Air Conditioner
* Keyless entry system
* Security Alarm and Immobilizer
* Power Door Locks
* Passenger and rear seat
* All seatbelts
* Sun visors and vanity mirrors
* Center console

I've finished checking spec,got 8:07.5 at Nurburgring on SM tires and visual low camber suspension - the only thing that this car needs is going 10 kph faster xD

BTW When we can expect new race car replicas and what cars it will be?

Be sure to drive the Civic at Suzuka, Fuji and Motegi on SS tire :) If you are driving on bumpy track, try the 10/8 spring rate. I will be posting GT4 car again next time I play, BMW M3 as well as some road cars replica ( Saleen Mustang ) and Focus ST.

The BMW M3 GT4 handles great, similar to the 370Z GT4, the M3 uses the Chrome Line model. Tested on SH tire, capable of sub 2:20s at Silverstone GP.

M3 actually competed in GT4 Class :) Other GT4 that competed at some point : MX5 Miata, KTM Xbow, BMW Z4, Ford Mustang Boy Racer GT4 ( using BOSS 302 ), Aston Martin Vantage and a Porsche :P

The rally cars are not really replica, but I tried to get as close as possible in specs :) I got Peugeot 106, Audi Quattro, Mercedes 190E, Supra 3.0 GT, Stratos, and old gen Lancer Evo ( Evo I to III ) - most are aimed at tarmac.

"Some tarmac / dirt rally car"
Yes, please! I need some more replica rally cars to practice on.
I give you a lot of credit for my podium finishes at my local rallycross events. Being able to practice on a Legacy in the game is a huge advantage over my competition. 👍

Hi Ridox , how are you ? This thread is a great job from you and look really serious, I like it. I would like to know if you are into drifting and if you did or will consider to do drift replica ?

Notes :

Saleen S281 has been sold for years in America :) This is 2007 model year S281E replica.

The Saleen S281E has 550HP power with 525 ft lb torque, the replica has been built as close as possible with 550HP/523ftlb. The real car weight is 1642kg or 3620lbs with 53/47 distribution, while in GT6 I can get the weight, but the distribution is at 56/44.

The S281E is equipped with N2 RaceCraft suspension upgrade from Saleen. With coilover springs + damper all around, but still retain the rear live axle with panhard rod. I have set the spring rate according to real life N2 RaceCraft spring rate, and tuned the damper + ARB to gives good balance. Several suspension alignment have also been provided. Try them all, and see which one fits you.

Gearing uses Tremec T56 in real life, a 6 close ratio speed manual with 4.1 final, the ratios are similar to the T56 used on Pontiac GTO and Holden Monaro. I have also included a 2nd set of ratio, Tremec TR6060 close ratio with better spread. The LSD is Saleen MaxGrip Speed Sensitive LSD, I tried to simulate the performance using lower preload and medium lock on acceleration + low lock on braking.

The Saleen S281E was tuned and tested at Tsukuba, Silverstone GP and Nordschleife. At Tsukuba, it can lap an easy 1:05s on comfort soft.

ENJOY :cheers:
