Maybe.
Because you're driving on tight courses, the Evo's 4WD and AYC are a huge advantage, meaning you're on pretty equal terms with the NSX and RX-7, which would normally slaughter an Evo on a normal track.
I'm sure there's something that has happened to the EVO's. I loved racing my EVO IX tuned in prologue against the Clio crew, was waiting for more of that when GT5 came out, only to be seriously dissapointed.
Been running the same 530pp sports soft road car series for a year now, EVO's got slaughtered at first, no matter what was tried or how many guys tried them.
Against the "regular" members, few weeks ago, I got the EVO's first victory in 9 lap race around Deep Forest (power limiter @ 100% & no ballast).
Shortly after we went to Nurb GP/F, there were a number of guys on the pace in EVO's - heheheh RJ came in with his DLC Aston, he was 2 secs a lap slower than the EVO (Sorry RJ - probably good reason for this that has now been rectified but couldn't resist mentioning it!!!!! - sorry).
Racing at Trial Mountain I used a VII RS with custom LSD, again, it seemed so much quicker and competitive than when I last used it...
I usually use the standard EVO VI RS with a full custom LSD, other guys were in standard GSRs with custom LSDs too - w've all ditcheed the AYC for online racing. There was a VIII MR and a III or II GSR - all of us were doing good lap times and race pace for these regulations (530pp S/S) on this track.
There's a few EVO fans in our series, we were all gutted at first (when we started racing them online) - but now, hmmmmmm, they don't get slaughtered anymore, if anything (i.e. you have your EVO dialled in and other guys in other cars haven't got their's dialled in) - the EVO will take them out.
Getting even tyre wear over race distance (normally about 20 miles-ish) can be a bit of work, but if you stick with it and get it about right. then you're not going to be a million miles off the pace in EVO's anymore.
A year ago, we were going backwards.....
Because we've raced the same cars and regulatons on the same tracks, online, for a year now, we have a rough idea of what can be done (lap times) for what track.
Lap times now are generally slower than 1 year ago, it's like all the other cars have slowed (along with the lap times) but the EVO's have stayed still, so they're now alot more competitive.
Weird - but to be honest, I'm LOVIN IT, the EVO's are back - wooohooooooo
