ROLL OVER: Yamauchi talks about it.

On the Meristation web site there is an interview to Yamauchi were he says this.

They are working on the damage of the 950+ cars, one at the time. And he says with the NASCAR racing cars the deformations and damage are going to be absolutely incredible and faithful to the reality, with (don't know the name in english) and rolling overet cetera...

So we have it.

I don't know if there is any threat about this, I searched it with no results.

More confirmation NASCAR will be epic. The OP does say AND, so I think every car will roll.

But the point about NASCAR is the damage will be better than most the other cars, maybe?

Sounds good, looking forward to see some screens/videos of the damage system when it's further developed.

NASCARs are more prone to roll over than most street cars. WRC too. So it's understandable that those would see the most attention to detail like they were originally.

This will make NASCAR bearable for me, to be honest. I'm not one of those guys that says "look, they're going in circles," as I notice the skill it takes NASCAR drivers to do that for hours at a time with the precision they have. However, I find it boring to drive them in a video game, but knowing I could wreck at any moment gives me some incentive to act like a real racer.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance.. but where does this thirst for roll overs come from?
I see forza 3 promoting it like crazy and all of the sudden people HAVE to have roll overs in every other racing game like it's something new and never done before.

Sorry, not meant as offensive.. simply curious.

Remember you can use NASCAR cars on Nürburgring, La Sarthe, Suzuka, Fuji .... you don't have to drive them only on Daytona.

Its not new, go to PC simulators to see it since years ago.
And Race Pro is there, for Xbox 360, with rolling-over system too.

Rollover will make crashes look better so I think that's where most of the thirst comes from.

More confirmation to me that NASCAR online will be epic as well. The great thing about NASCAR 2003 online was that when someone wrecked you at Daytona it was almost always a spectacular wreck. When someone wrecks you at Suzuka you just slide off into some quicksand. When someone wrecks you at Daytona odds are its a multi car pile up that usually involves a bunch of flips and hard knocks. If they're going to take you out might as well take you out in style.

I will be extremely surprised if anything tops NASCAR oval races as the #1 online event in GT5.

Nurburgring races may come close but once people realize a 200 turn 13 mile track does not produce good racing I think it will loose alot of steam.

Looks like my suspicions were right; Premium models get the premium treatment. However, I like that. I wouldn't want to flip over a Ferrari F50, especially on a sunny day:D

Yeah, but I'm talking about the races we'll probably have in career on official NASCAR ovals or whatever.

Although it's gonna be great to take a CoT around some of the more complex circuits. I predict massive spinouts in my future.

950 cars in about 180 days, that's some effort. 5 cars a day complete damage and deformations.

I think it might be a little later than March. :!

They basically copied this post on NGAF

SolidSnakex:
...Speaking of NASCAR, Yamauchi noted that the deformation and damage in these high-speed races will be absolutely amazing and true to life, with turns, spins, roll, and so on. We will have to see to believe.

you know it never makes the deadline

Yer, I know:D

It doesn't matter how good it is now, in 6months it will be better and another 6 months.

I think damage should have been a part of the next GT and already be on it. GT5 could have been out for 6 months if it wasn't for damage.... IMO.
If "we " (GTP members) and other sources of response to information about the game, carry on about this and that and I not gonna...blah blah blah.... we'll end up waiting longer and longer. Because our imput is important to sales and reputation on the GT franchise.

I am glad they are going to implement rollover. Yesterday I raced my fiancee in GT4 and the experience was ruined when she hit the test track corner, flew 50 feet into the air then spun out (in a weird way) for another 15 seconds..

Hopefully they will get the physics right when spinning or flipping on high embankments like Daytona.

By the way, it's great to read a thread where someone doesn't blatantly bash nascar. 👍

I don't think there will be many flips on Daytona's corners unless you are trying. There are simply too many G's holding the car on the ground. However if you spin on the front/back stretch there is a possibility of a roll-over.

Wow, this wreck from NASCAR 2003 looks exactly like the Logano rollover. Right after the wreck you will see how NR2003 even simulates blowovers well.
