ROLL OVER: Yamauchi talks about it.

This shows why all races should be COMMERCIAL FREE or at least UNINTERRUPTED. NBC can't do anything right! At least the broke out of the commercials.

THE BIG ONE!

I don't think there will be many flips on Daytona's corners unless you are trying. There are simply too many G's holding the car on the ground. However if you spin on the front/back stretch there is a possibility of a roll-over.

I agree. What I was referring to is a crash similar to the infamous Earnhardt crash where you lose your back end and crash head on in to the barrier. Prologue eliminated the bounce effect of GT4 but you could still spin like a top like this:

I think the anti rollover physics enhance the death spin in all versions of gt

I am glad they are going to implement rollover. Yesterday I raced my fiancee in GT4 and the experience was ruined when she hit the test track corner, flew 50 feet into the air then spun out (in a weird way) for another 15 seconds..

Hopefully they will get the physics right when spinning or flipping on high embankments like Daytona.

By the way, it's great to read a thread where someone doesn't blatantly bash nascar. 👍

Yes, I really hope the crash physics are a step up from GT5:P bouncing off the walls physics. I want to see actual weight transfer when hitting walls/objects, and a change in speed and direction, maybe even wheels comming off the ground when hitting walls. That would be very nice. Hopefully the same crash physics (not damage) is the same for production street cars.

I think GT fans can thank NASCAR for rollover being in GT5

When he hit the wall, the was such a thud from my subwoofer, it sounded like someone shot off a cannon there at the track. That was the first "real" test for the COT. I'm thankful for the safety innovations that car has, but it handles like crap! NASCAR has the teams in a very small setup box. :(

You'll have to excuse my ignorance.. but where does this thirst for roll overs come from?
I see forza 3 promoting it like crazy and all of the sudden people HAVE to have roll overs in every other racing game like it's something new and never done before.

Sorry, not meant as offensive.. simply curious.

I'm pretty sure the craze for roll overs comes from the way Turn 10 is attempting to compete pseudo-directly with PD. Simply because none of the previous GTs had roll overs, Turn 10 decided they would make a big deal out of it, and tout it as a breakthrough in simulation physics, ignoring other simulators, many more realistic than GT, on the market.

This wouldn't have been a big deal on its own, but fanboys on internet forums, and to a lesser degree, video game bloggers and reporters, have a tendency to blow things like this out of proportion (general statement; not meaning to call anyone or any group out). It wouldn't have been such a big controversy if people had not let it rile them up. In the end, they're just games, after all. It seems that people like to take an us vs. them approach to just about everything in life.

I hear what you're saying but I've always wanted it. For me it has nothing to do with turn 10. I just want the most realistic game possible. Bouncing physics has always been a criticism of GT games.

Yes, same here. I just hope the production street cars have the same collision physics as the rally and nascars.

From the recent interviews all cars should have similar damage. Although the couple demo's kind of dispute that.

I can't wait for March. Hopefully I can get a full time job by than so I can build a proper cockpit and get a wheel to go with it.

Anyone that talks crap about NASCAR, or the NASCAR drivers needs to watch the Carl Edwards video. Those cars, and him especially, are awesome. A F1 driver would have stormed off like a 13 year old girl who had their birthday party crashed if that happend to them.

edit- I take all that back, there are no facts to prove what I said :dunce:

I don't mean damage, I mean actual physics when hitting walls and objects. I hope all the cars, including production cars, show weight transfer when hitting things and a shift in speed and direction, not just 'bouncing' off walls and retaining pretty much the same speed like you see in GT5:P. Hopefully with proper collision physics the cars momentum and weight will shift and will show proper impact, making 'wall contact' pentalties not needed. I hope rollovers will be possible with street cars if you hit a wall going fast enough at the right angel. The rollovers seem more likely for NASCAR and rally cars, hopefully I will be proved wrong. :)

I don't know if there is any threat about this, I searched it with no results.
I don't think anybody will threaten you about this Yonny...

As for the topic, fine, give us rollover, on EVERY car, otherwise it's just a stupid add-on. It's ridiculous having in on just the race cars, because there is no excuse - Forza 3 has it on all cars, so that blows their "they won't let us" argument out of the water.

ditto..if that floats your boat, why not just buy 'burnout' ..lol

This sounds cool, being in the UK I don't see too much Nascar but from what I do see it looks really good.

Online will be awsome as long as you don't get idiots causing the crashes for a laugh. The private rooms should put pay to that though.

With regards to the roll over, I just think people want it for the realism. If I hit a wall or a car at well over 100mph I don't want a " donk " noise and then drive off like nothing has happened. On the other GT's they just stay planted to the road.

Don't get me wrong I am not planning on crashing that much. I think it will also make people think twice before using the back of my car to stop.
