Which track is harder, Laguna or Rome, and why?

I love hearing others' opinions about this stuff.

For me it's Rome. I've been making the same errors cornering for ever. I have somekind of block when it comes to that one.

P.S. Do you remember SS Rt. 11? That's not in GT2 is it? I miss that one. :(

DEFINITLY LAGUNA SECA! ;)
In Rome you can bounce off the walls! I did the Rome endurance race with the Escudo one day. For about twenty laps I didn't press the brakes at all and on one lap I got a 1:05 time. NOT JOKING EITHER!

I don't have GT1 (I need to get it though), but SS Route 11 isn't it GT2. But you do get Motorsports Land (better get out your go-cart) , and Rome Night: both are my favorite courses :D

It's the first sharp 90 degree turn after the second straight-a-way... (funny, with all that scenery that's the best description I can come with :P )

I'd say half the time I hit the wall there, and pretty straight on, too, so that going in the dirt at Laguna probably eats up the same, or less time. I just approach too fast and it's a hard habbit to break.

On some tracks I've taken huge leaps in handling my cars, like Trial Mountain or SS Rt. 5. But they're both on GT1 so maybe I just need more practice.

Laguna Seca is harder for me.

Rome has a special significance to me. Rome short is where I won my first GT2 race ever. The next race I won (other than a few more times on Rome Short) was Rome Circuit. With the right car (GT40 from Ford Special lot:D ), you can powerslide around just about every corner there, and still win the race.

I love both tracks and are very technical.
I think the Laguna is the technical of the two and one of the main reasons is its corkscrew (screw-up more like it ;) )and altitude changes. There are dynamics on the laguna that affects cars differently and Rome is pretty much flat.
Rome just doesnt have the fun as the Laguna and can be mastered, Laguna on the other hand cant. ;) :D

My first was Tahiti Rd. I wish there were more higher level races there.

Yeah, Tahiti Road rules. That's my favorite track in fact, followed by Grindelwald and High Speed Ring.

Ahhhh!!!

Grindenwald... :banghead: I hate that one. Or maybe I should say hated. I actually haven't driven it in so long.

I used to hate Laguna, too, but now it's one of my fav's.

Grindenwald sucks donkey balls.
its too freaking hard to powerslide, which is just about the only thing i can do better than most.

laguna seca is definitely harder.
i saw a real gt race there last summer, and 2 vette's and an NSX spun out there. (no bimmer's, oddly enough:D)

I saw a Toyota Atlantic Race there on TV a few weeks ago. It was cool to see the game in real life through the on-board camera. I saw a chain reaction spin-out in the corkscrew... first one, then somebody hits him and another swerves to avoid and then... what a mess. They all kept driving though.

i'm not big on either. but i'd say rome, cause it's easier on my eyes. all that orange or reddish hue or whatever at seca bugs me.

Laguna isnt hard guys, cmon...

you can break really late on the first tight corner after the straight, and run over the ripple strip, cutting the corner, and power slide hard outa there... the next two corners are **** easy, almost WOT (wide open throttle) then late breaking on the next corner, which leads to another WOT corner before the hill to the corkscrew... the corkscrew isnt as hard as people think u can really cut both sides of it, whilst keeping quite a bit of speed... the rest of it is dead easy too...

where as rome, i agree with milefile, the 90 degree corners im not too familiar with, but im sure over time ill get hte hang of em

Laguna is easy but has the challenge of finding all the lines to hit. Took me about 2 weeks to get Laguna down. Rome gets on my nerves lol, not hard just not my Fav. I love heting the inside road marks on the very last turn 180 degree, get on two wheels for the first half of the turn.

Well it's been a while since I started this thread and I STILL HATE ROME! I avoid it at all costs. I've had a few better than average goes at it, but I still suck at it.

The 1st 90 degree right? Crash. Every frickin' time :banghead:

I thought this an appropriate bump, since jeffgoddin is preparing a race at Rome.

I voted "Rome" by the way. Laguna Seca appears in every game from GT2 afterwards, plus I was familliar with this track before I ever raced it virtually, since I used to watch racing on TV held at this track occasionally. Rome in GT2 (full course, short course, or night course) is much more tricky for me. They are way trickier than Rome Circuit is in GT5. :grumpy:

4WD and good brakes (can you say Alfa Romeo 155 Touring car?) make Rome a fun little course. Laguna Seca just pisses me off, I always mess up at the corkscrew.

I voted Rome Circuit because I get more consistent lap times at Laguna. With Rome there are so many tricky to get perfect corners which results in great variation in times. I actually find Laguna to be quite predictable to manage.

Hint: for the corkscrew, begin braking just before the peak of the hill!

Thanks for the hint Jeffgoddin, for Rome you just need to brake early and roll off the throttle when entering the turns, then once you hit the apex accelerate like a mad man out of the turn.
