We are going to the Green Hell this week with what is probably the best car in the game to bring to the Ring. đź‘Ť

Free Race/Hot Laps
Circuit: Nurburgring Full
Cars: (PI)'05 Lotus Elise 111S [Stock 367]
Assists: Anything goes personal preference.
Transmission: Again personal preference.
Rules: Anything which invalidates your lap (exclamation mark next to time) is not allowed.
Tuning is allowed where the cars allow, you may discuss and share setups and setup tips.

PM me your best time, New Submission Format:
Name - Time - Car
Frizbe - 13:905 - VW Beetle

New submission format is to help streamline the results for me. Thank you.
you have until 11:59 PM MST (-7 GMT) on the 1st of March to do this. I will accept only one laptime to save my inbox from confusion of having more than one time from people. If you could also state in your final PM if you are using a pad or a wheel.

P.S. I found out that if you go into Multiplayer>Private Race and then set the AI cars to 7 you can run your own personalized Endurance race. Perfect for getting to know the track and it also fattens that wallet a bit ;)

Now you're talking...

My favorite track.

I'll try to get a time in, but as usual, I can't promise anything. Working 2 jobs at the moment, so time is a luxury I don't always have.

Is there a specific PI or are we just running the stock Elise?

;)

This is also my fav track!! Hopefully I can learn the car reasonably fast. I'll be trying this all day tomorrow lol. My fanatec wheel gets here tomorrow so that will be a good time to break it in!

Delphic, I think it's the stock PI, with tuning from the race menu. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm also running a Turbo S. đź‘Ť

Though I am stuck with the standard pedals until I can locate a set of G25 pedals.

You will have fun with it. It's a nice bit of kit.

That is what it appears to be. I have some time tonight...

I'll drag the cockpit out in front of the 52" and see what's what.

;)

The PI for the car is 367....
I'm getting some CS pedals if the standards aren't up to par for me.

Yeah its stock I meant to post that before I left for work. Thanks F34R, now I wn't have to load the game to check.

(PS when you get your wheel F34R check the Firmware on it, if you need to update to the 660, its miles above the 613 mine came with. Oh and if you spent the money one the Turbo S, the standard pedals won't be up to par. Trust me.)

Does that update anything for use with consoles?

I haven't updated anything on mine. I assume I can update the wheel via the USB cable I use to connect the wheel for PC/PS3 use?

I had a set. They broke..... Twice.

I'm going with the G25's. I like the way my modded G25 pedals feel (well, used to when I had them) over the CSP's. If you invert them, stiffen the brake resistance, or add a hydraulic mod, the G25/G27's can be pretty realistic in feel.

The frimware improves center response (the old one if you held the wheel at a certain angle inside the center 'deadzone' the on screen wheel jumps around) and also make the on wheel FFB and SHO setting 10 step instead of 3. Not to difficult to perform details are on Thomas' blog on 911wheel.de

Well, when I have tried to play any PS2/PS3 racing game I get center FFB problems. With GT games it's the center shaking issue so many have talked about here on these forums. Are you saying this firmware update will fix that? I was under the impression there was no fix as of yet.

My FFB and SHO have always been 10 step. Only the Drift Mode is 3(?) step on my wheel.

A link would be most helpful (to the firmware update, not the site). Fanatec has a knack for creating the worst website/Forums around. I have no idea where to find the Firmware Update after looking through a few links on that site.

They desperately need a webmaster and a customer service representative.

You can check your firmware by turning on your wheel and while the tuning display is showing '---' press all four lower buttons LSB, RSB A B and the tuning display will show which firmware you have, sounds to me like you might have 660 though DR, the update does not fix the GT5P FFB problems.

Goodness I hate learning these cars lol. I mean, its fun, but I hate sucking so badly lol. My unofficial time right now is just over 10 minutes with this car. That is with only two laps ever driving this car, no assists, manual. I twas in the top 2%, at around 3400th on the time table for that track with a C class car lol.

I can't wait till this evening though. I'll start learning manual with clutch!!! Times are going to suck, but I enjoy it a lot. CMON UPS!!! lol

The inverted G25 pedals seem like a good idea, and I'm definitely going to be looking at a number of different things in order to decide on either the G25/27 pedals or the Clubs.

I should upload my replay of the 2nd lap with the Lotus. It takes forever though lol

The mere thought of doing a clean and fast lap of the Ring brings back SLR driving mission nightmares from GT4 :scared:. Ugh still haven't passed that one yet.

Well with on legitimate off but two logged I managed a 9:18 so I think with some skill a clean sub 9:10 is possible.

Correct. Personally I'm guessing the top time will be closer to an 8:55-ish... not to scare you or anyone  (and no that ain't gonna be me, in my dreams though :D).

8:45 is possible

I'm running completely stock at the moment but you can add front and rear spoilers and drop the PI a little. Just wondering if this is allowed but obviously don't go over 367PI?

Hey that sounds like fun, I'm really bad on the Ring, but I try my best.

After playing F3 quite a bit now, I must say, the driving itself is fun, but online and hotlapping is pretty much messed up... seems they copied a little too much from GT5P. :boggled:

What do you mean by that, I thought tuning is not allowed in this case, or can you do what you want as long PI stays at 367 (i.e. stock)?

There's not much you can do apart from add spoilers, roll cage or something but was wondering about it.

I doubt anything can be gained by adding front and rear spoilers or whatever, especially a low power car on a non taxing Nurburgring but the OP says the limit is the stock PI and not how you get to that PI and "Tuning is allowed where the cars allow".

Just thought I could add a little wing perhaps.

8:45 even... wow.

I'm assuming to OP intended to indicate that parts tuning is not allowed but I agree it also leaves room for interpretation.

I hadn't thought of something where it would lower the PI but no that is not allowed the cars are to be run stock.

Ah, ok. Thanks for clearing that up. đź‘Ť

Starting now... last place, here I come.

Edit: Grrrr, I can't get a clean lap together, I did an almost clean 9:39...
:ouch:

Note: Have done hundereds of laps here on Grandturismo so kind of know the place by heart.. but I know Icelt is faster still.... But too much work to get more laps in..

Appreciate the confidence, but I didn't put much time in this week so my time sure isn't going to be anything special. Basically means I'm definitely north of the 9 min mark, which based on Chromatic's feedback I've left a bunch of time out there. It'll be interesting to see the results for this round, the spread between times is gonna be wild I'm thinking.
