Congratulations, we're ALL "winners"!!!1

I think we are all glad the shenanigans of round 2 are behind us, but also apprehensive about whether the sponsors can fix the problem for round 3. Either way...now that we don't have any competing for the next 7 ??? days, post your predictions/wishes for the next round here.

Notes -
1) Sony is waiting for an update before starting round 3, so the dates may changes - original round 3 start date is 2/14.
2) There will be 2 car/track combinations.

So...what do you think we will see:
- Cars/tires
- Tracks/conditions
- Exploits...
- How well you think you will do

I don't think they'll reduce the number of tracks given that they've been going with the overall time. I'd say we should expect to continue to see a theme of road car on a race track and race car on a road course. Who knows what tires we'll get but I imagine it'll be comfort soft/racing hard to keep difficulty up.

I plan on still seeing exploits because thats just how people are. butin all seriousness i hope not.

Now for my predictions:
- Cars/tires
1. Nissan Sileighty on comfort med
2. JGTC GTR racing hard
- Tracks/conditions
1. SS route 5
2. Nurburgring
- Exploits...
A new way to wall bounce "Lightly"
- How well you think you will do
Im Confident Ill make it to top 8 once I buckle down with my throttle Control.

Anyone have any predictions for start date? When does the next update come out? I have a ski trip in Tahoe going from 2/26-3/5.

If they delay 1 week I will only have the work week to put up times. If they delay 2 weeks, I will only have maybe Saturday night (after flying cross country) and Sunday.

Really I think any more than a 1 week delay, and they will bump up against booking travel for Orlando. However, per the notice it looks like round 3 depends on the next PS3 update.

EDIT - from another read of the notice, it looks like it's not a PS3 update, just a GT5 update...

Interestingly enough we can't rule out tracks we've already done. After all, they threw Rome at us again.

The only guess I'm throwing out there this time is, two short tracks. One on comfort mediums (r35 maybe) the other could be a race car or it could just be a weird thing we don't expect.

I'm hoping for actual race tracks, Laguna Seca and Suzuka would be nice.

And I'm hoping for race cars with a proper handling balance (read: less understeer) so we can be done with this goofy e-braking around corners and scandinavian flicking your way into hairpins.

EDIT: Outside shot at the top 8, was as high as top 12 in the MW yesterday afternoon.

I wouldn't mind seeing the R34 combo back at eifel. I thought that was a great divider among the good and the really good. It had blind, off camber, rhythm and really tight stuff.

I'd like to see two tracks with roughly the same time so they are both equally important. One race car, one street car. One race tire and one comfort/sport tire. And I'd like to see the race car on the race circuit instead of it being backwards like Indy/Toscana.

Rd.3-1:
GT-R: Sports Hard
Madrid/Monaco/Laguna

Tough braking and some consecutive corners to test how you control a heavy car that you'll drive if you make it to Silverstone.

Rd.3-2:
Any Nissan Race Car: Racing Hard
Nurb GP/Suzuka/Fuji

Fast car on a proper circuit with proper tires so get an idea of how drivers will control an actual race car once if they get all the way through.

Full Disclosure: On the Rd.2 predictions thread I said they would never give us a brand new never before released track...which is exactly what they did.

Suzuka. Grip reduction set to REAL. Thanks for listening.
Almost fogot, no stupid fictional tracks.

It's all good, all cars and all tracks are fun. Racing is racing! Sick of Rome though and I couldn't quite wrap my head around it.

I predict that the penalties might be strict enough that some will be irritated, maybe even the fastest ones. It depends on whether the update will be game-wide or for just the time trials. If they have to make a full blown update that affects all gameplay they will have to weigh the penalty system against mass appeal/regular gamers versus hardcore racers. will be interesting.

I think Nurburgring has a shot at being the final time trial with a 9 minute lap. Can you imagine all your free time getting sucked away with that! I'm going iracing to get this taste out of my mouth.

I want to see the ring twice.
Once in a road car, once in a race car.
Would make it very obvious who the top 8 drivers are.

I definitely don't want the Nurburgring... Its more a test of who has logged huge amounts of time on it than driving skill IMO. I think it would be pretty unfair considering the time required to learn such a monster for people like me who never learned it when others could jump right in and start laying down laps. That is not as much of an issue on a 8-20 turn race course.

I'm with EERS. Suzuka AND Nurburgring Nordschliefe.

Penalties Set to Max, Damage Light, Grip Reduction off-line REAL.

I love the JGTC Cars, but I'll be prepared for anything.

Does "real" fix the chicane cutting at the end of the track or did PD already take care of that when they released GT5?

I pretty sure 4 off anywhere around Suzuka results in a penalty. I'm not sure at all about Nurburgring though, too many turns to test. But if grip reduction is set to real, and damage turned on, penalties wouldn't matter there.

What are the chances that the organizers simply make the necessary changes and return to Indy/Toscana, Eifel/Toscana, or Rome/Madrid? It would make it feel as though all the time invested in Round 2 didn't go to waste.

These are the tracks I would like to see.

Susuka east and grand valley

Cars: anything with race tires.lol.

Exploit: none i hope.

Penalty for exploit: Public execution.

For some reason I think they're gonna keep Madrid, but with a different car. They might've had it in mind for round 3 but threw it into round 2 after all the crap happened.

No one expected a custom track so... I'm not sure what I would say for the second track.

Realistically I guess I would say Nurburgring GP, but only if they have the penalty system sorted in preparation for that last chicane.

My other guess, which is a long shot, would be Nordschleife.

As far as cars go... I think I'll say GT Academy GTR on Sports Mediums and the 370Z on racing hards.

lawnmowing should be punishable by death, penalties should be turned on to prevent cutting, and mechanical damage should turn on to prevent bouncing off walls.

also, i'd like to see something different and unexpected, just like last round.
maybe a nissan march on top gear test track(GT ACADEMY IN A REASONABLY PRICED CAR) and a gtr on the ring, if these updates actually do their job stopping the cheaters in round 3, then we should be able to drive these tracks in peace.

I deffinetly think we are going to see the JGTC Xanavi Z instead of the GTR but then again they couldn't even get the name of the car right in Round 2. Said on the leaderboard that it was the Xanavi Z when it was actually the Xanavi GTR.

I noticed that the difference on paper between the JGTC Z and GTR is the dimensions and torque. The Z is a bit smaller than the GTR. For those of you who have raced both, do they feel drastically different in the handling department?

The biggest difference I can tell would be gearing/powerband, but neither of the cars are in my personal garage. Also I would be willing to bet that the suspension geometry is different of each car or the wheelbase perhaps.

The Z is much more tail happy than the GTR in my experience, but they definitely had a tune on the GTR in Round 2.
