Round 3 Predictions Thread

Agree to the first, but I experienced no difference with the GTR aside from the tires I normally use on it.

That may have been it, I have no idea what the stock tune is anymore on the GTR. I've messed with mine way to much...

I think 3 tracks would be cool, like they had in the first round. With 3 tracks they can focus on diversity of talent through mileage. I hated the 2 short tracks at the end, especially both the chicanes.

I'd love to see the nordschleife, even better wet. The nice thing about green hell is that there is so much room for mistakes that the jackasses that were cheating in round 2 wouldn't be able to keep up anyway. I don't know if any of you noticed but most of the guys at the top of Madrid were SLOW as balls everywhere but the last turn lol.

The ring and anything else. My logic is that they've got to somehow make up for all the lost track distance/time they just got rid of from round 2. Essentially, we'd have (insert track here) and the first half of the ring as round 2, and then the rest of the lap at the ring for round 3!

As far as cars are concerned, a race car on the shorter track, then a street car with scheisty tires on the ring would really separate the top guys from the rest of the field. Truthfully though, I'll just be happy if people are literally UNABLE to cheat. That'd be great.

I suppose I may have misunderstood you. The GTR would have been the race car and the GT-R would have been the R34 production car; which I believe you are correct in saying was modified.

Alright, I'm going to commit to some craziness here -

Tuned 370z @ Monza - corner cutting beyond what is typically legal by FIA, but still on the track (even with "low" realism, the sand is devastating to times). Maybe some will get creative and "move" the soft barriers for the T1 chicane to cut that turn even further?

GT Academy GT-R @ Nurburgring GP/F - night and/or wet to mix it up. Again, the sand here is a little too much to cut. However, I'm not sure if running super wide between T2 and T3 is faster...or running wide on other turns like T4 or the turn after the Schumacher Chicane. Either way, people will use ALL the pavement available, but probably keep things on pavement/curbing. Finally, there's another opportunity here to move the soft barriers at the last chicane...

The REAL question is when will round 3 start?! We are getting near hump day close of business on the East Coast, and still no word if there's an updated start for round 3...

If things are delayed 1 week, I'm OK - I'll miss most of the weekend, but I'll have Monday off for the holiday. If things are delayed 2 weeks, I'm screwed - I'll be in Tahoe all week, and only have 1 day to throw down times. More than 2 weeks or no delay at all - perfect...hopefully I'll make it to Orlando.

Ring rat reporting for duty!
:dopey:
(btw that is what my face actually looks like)

I don't race on there all the time, but usually before I shut the system off for the night I'll grab a nice street car and do a lap. Lately it's been my mildly modified Skyline 370GT on Sport Hards or something similar.

man i realy hope that everything is ironed out so all of us can get down with some real clean and hard racing competition, u know the reason wy this gt a was started in the first place

I know they said the schedule is "subject to change", but I have yet to see them change it.

Is there still a chance that round 3 will start on time?

If we get an update before Sunday then there is a chance, there has to be a game update before the start.

Right on...that's what I'm hoping for - or a 1 week delay at the latest.

Is anyone else surprised that we have no gone almost an entire work week, and not seen a single communication from the sponsors regarding an updated (or unchanged) schedule?

I would speculate that, given it is Thursday, it is probably NOT going to start on time. Though tomorrow is still a working day, so if an announcement is to come, it will likely come tomrrow. Else, I'll assume it's postponed until at least after Monday.

It would not at all suprise me if we didn't hear a peep out of the organizers untill sunday night LOL

Yea, lots of 1 way communication and its usually after they change something or post something in game. So they wont say a word until the patch comes out, which this board will help point out eheh.

I wonder if its 100% SCEA or if Kaz got involved after seeing all the cutting reports. It would be cool if Kaz got involved, and got on the devs case to fix the problems.

Now that the next cut is the top 8, they could just write a set of rules that specifies 4-tires off will DQ the run, regardless of what the software says.

And have every driver click the "I have read the 4-off addendum and agree to abide etc. etc.."

We can all watch the top 8 for 4-off. (we will be ghosting them anyway.)

The problem comes with wall contact. You can't leave something that subjective up to humans that have a stake in the outcome. (us) And if the community doesn't like a "call" made by an "outside" judge, the judge will get pressured to the point where their objectivity comes into question.

I really hope they just fix the software. Soon.

I knew you were logical this entire time, why be the devil's advocate. Anyways, there would never be any contract of that nature, nor the fact they review the laps. From this point on it will be the fastest 8 laptimes get to proceed and if your not that 8 your sol. Unless you have cheated bad.

This is the horrible truth to realize, at this point anything will go for competition unless Sony/Nissan/PD put out a statment banning such behavior. It is apparent they do not wish this to occur but they are not explicitly speaking against it.

This update will be the fix all/save all for the final 2 courses they have planned. At Orlando there will be people watching to make calls on opinion, until then it will be the crap shoot :indiff:

What is your PSN ID? just curious.

Thx. Mine is "Normally-Aspirated"

:)

Haha.

The screen name "came with" the PS3 my teenager gave me, and I never bothered to change it.

I would have picked a different one, but it was quickest just to register me under the existing SN when he set me up for the academy.

oh well.

It's all good! It's not the name that matters 👍

I think it would be interesting if, from now on, they only gave you guys one of each car to race with. The first time you bump the wall and smash your car, you're done. (Your best time at this point counts)

That would add some realism to the races.

It would be downright mean spirited if they didn't actually announce this before you started racing!

Just wish they would go ahead and announce whether round three will be this upcoming week or not. Although it is Friday, I would not be surprised if we stay on schedule.

Via Facebook - round 3 is going to be delayed. No time frames were provided, except that more information will be coming next week, and that the competition will resume after the updates are complete.

"Please note that Round 3 of GT Academy will not begin on February 14 as previously planned. Round 3 will begin following the deployment of the next update to Gran Turismo 5, and all 512 players who advanced beyond Round 1 will be able to participate in Round 3, for a chance to go to the GT Academy National Finals event. Check back here and on the official GT website for updates next week."

That works for me. I'm out of town next week and wasn't coming back until Friday.
