I recently 'ruined' my D-link DIR-615 router by mistakenly plugging my modems power into it, now it won't power up so I was going to get the same one as I know it works fine for my scenario but I wanted to see what you guys/gals were using.
My info-
ISP-Comcast/Infinity-20up, 5down, 10-20 ping
1 Xbox (wired), ps3 (wireless), 1 laptop (wireless). Usually the laptop and xbox LIVE are used at the same time, never the two consoles. What I am confused/questioning is the ethernet ports as my LIVE is the most important. I see gigabit ports which are 10/100/1000 and standard which are 10/100. From what I gathered, the xbox only uses 10/100 so would the gigabit ports be pointless?
Also I have noticed some newer routers are dual, 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, I do not think I have anything that uses the 5Ghz so is that something to worry about.
