Greetings gentlemen. I'm a GT6 user at the moment, but I never want to race on it on anything grippier than S/H tyres, and ideally comforts; I just love the way the car moves about on them.

I understand that people like me would probably fall in love with AC, but, I'm skint, absolutely skint, and I'm going to have to source a pretty garbage computer to play it on.

Do any of you have computers with the minimum standards, and yet find that you can still enjoy the game?

Cheers, Zo.

To be honest, i have a pc thats over the top in specs and a laptop.
My laptop runs a gtx670mx so its dumbed down from adesktop pc. But even on my laptop, yup a lappy, ac is fun. As long as you are enjoying it thats all that matters. You dont need a stellar pc.
If it runs and you are happy then its worth it. Pc upgrades can come in time.

Thanks very much for your reply Popeye. Stupid question I hope, and I'm sorry I didn't include this in my first post, but a slower spec computer wouldn't put me at a significant disadvantage would it, with my inputs and the machine's responses being less slick than those of a higher end computer?

I'm sorry, but I'm rather ancient and utterly clueless when it comes to any computer related matters, they completely baffle me.

Cheers, Zo.

Interesting question, this would depend on whether the slower spec computer is capable of running the game at a fixed framerate, ideally 60fps. If a slower computer is running the game at minimum settings and a faster machine is running with all the fancies turned up, in theory the input lag will be the same if the framerate is the same (unless there is some complicated game controller/cpu stuff going on that I don't understand, or the low spec cpu cannot handle the physics engine regardless of graphical settings). I will try the game on an old laptop with a c2d and see how it goes.

To be hones, im ashamed to even post my pc parts. But I enjoy AC than any ps3 racing game out there. As long as you enjoy playing below hd or at least 720p, you'll enjoy AC a lot. And as long as you get constant 60fps to 120fps, you're good.

A intel dual I core or even the cheapo FX4100 will run AC with a decent GPU like hd7770 and above.

No question is stupid. However, breaking news, AC is being ported to ps4. The dev kit has been delivered to Kunos.
As far a pcs go, get stuck in. You wont regret it

The news about PS4 is very interesting indeed. The one complaint I read frequently about PC racing sims is the poor community facility relative to GT, and one of the things I do love about GT is the camaraderie among my fellow combatants. A matter I would imagine is to be taken care of in the PS4 version of AC owing to the use of PSN. Or am I being naïve?

Damn it, that's a spanner in the works.

Cheers, Zo.

I dont know. I think it will help AC develop. And as for the other thing, the communities on the forums are the only ones I have any interest in. Psn? Talking while driving? Not for me. I'm happy to hotlap or race the artificial idiots. Have no interest in online or MP stuff. Solo for me. As the war office ( missus) told me i'm a miserable old bugger.

It's usually laughing whilst driving for me to be honest, I can't take any of it seriously enough. And those AI guys don't have any sense of humour.

Cheers, Zo.

Well after much messing around with steam the laptop test was a complete failure, as the 9600m graphics card is dx10 only. Assetto Corsa requires graphics hardware that supports at least dx10.1. The first geforce card that came out with dx10.1 was the gt220 back in 2009, while ATi supported it earlier. Your best bet would be to get a cheap dx11 card, like a gtx 650, but if you are buying a complete computer make sure it supports dx10.1 or above. This is the first game I can remember that requires dx10.1, most run happily in dx9 with additional dx10/dx11 modes depending on how lazy the devs are.

Sorry I could not be of more help, good luck!

That help may well have saved me going out and buying something which was completely useless to me Andrew, thanks very much. I do need things such as that spelling out to me for whatever reason, I seem to have some mental block when it comes to the understanding of the technical side.

Cheers, Zo.

I'd rather see AC ported to SteamOS/Linux. But I guess if they can get it ported to PS4, it will make it a hell of a lot easier to port it to Linux.

That would also give me a reason to buy a PS4, since I've just about given up on the Gran Turismo franchise.

Not definate. True. However Kunos are the ones posting a pic of the delivery of the ps4 dev kit. So it takes no leap of imagination to guess what it means. However i shall refrain for reporting what Kunos posts if you like. Job done
