Translation of Zelenskij's tweet:

RF kills wherever it can go. Today it got to 🇵🇱. This attack on collective security in the Euro-Atlantic region is an escalation. People died. My condolences to my brothers and sisters 🇵🇱! 🇺🇦 always with you. The terror of the RF must be stopped. Solidarity is our strength!

It's probably not the best idea to simply take Zelensky's word for it. Really need to understand:

A: If this really came from Russia or Belarus
B: If it was intentional*

*Knowing Russia, this would be incredibly difficult to determine. At the same time, if this was meant to be an escalatory move or message from Russia they aren't going to just say it was an accident because that would defeat the point of the message. So we should ask Russia straight up - did you attack Poland? If the answer is no, then air defenses at the NATO perimeter should be reinforced, but the status quo should be maintained. If the answer is yes...well that's a whole other can of worms.

I don't think this warrants a big reaction...at least not yet. Russia is losing and nothing should be done to alter the balance, particularly if it starts to get other nations off the sidelines.

The US likely already knows if it was an accident and is probably advising Poland on the next steps. You don't spend 50 years fighting a cold war and not have a robust spy network still in place.

I get that outright asking puts Russia on the spot but asking Russia for an honest answer is quite naïve; irrespective of their answer, it won't be the truth.
It's naive to expect them to answer truthfully - the Russian government is pathologically incapable of honesty/credibility/honor etc. But you can still learn something from their answer.

The easier way to deal with this, was if Russia just admited it was a mistake due to a technical issue with the missiles, or even a man-made mistake. Denying everything leaves too much room to speculate and overreact.

Interesting that the outcome of the Netherlands' case against Russia in the European Court of Human Rights over the MH17 attack - also a Russian attack which Russia blamed on Ukraine - is due this week...

Perhaps fortunately this article isn't as alarmist as the title implies and Betteridge's law still applies. It's now up to Poland to decide how it wants to react to the murder of its citizens but if RF continues to blame the victims some kind of NATO response seems inevitable to me.

Kiev: 50.4501° N, 30.5234°E;

Lviv: 49.8429° N, 24.0311° E;

Where missiles hit: 50.4501° N, 24.0311° E.
If that turns out to be the actual reason for why the missiles landed in Poland, then...
the naked gun facepalm GIF

Incompetence overload

Maidan square in Kyiv and some civilian buildings next to city administration in Lviv...
Combining those coordinated does lead to Poland, but too far away from the actual missile hit.

The missile hit in Poland is 50.474589N 23.923253E

I've seen reports of missile, and reports of missiles. Which is it?
There could be a big difference between one missile hitting (which might be due to all sorts of rogue errors) and missiles hitting which is less likely to be error.

So far one missile hit confirmed, and that it was an Ukrainian S-300.

I'm just freeballing here, but it sort of makes sense that even if it was a Russian missile that it's likely in NATO's best interest to say it was an accident or say it was from Ukraine. As much as I want Russia to learn what a trillion dollars a year in military spending looks like, a world war is not something we need.

Even if it was Ukrainian air defense though, it's still Russia's fault since there wouldn't need to be air defense if Russia wasn't committing crimes against humanity.

As I said, the status quo greatly favors Ukraine & NATO right now. It would be dumb to change it.

All found guilty. Sentenced to life in prison.
Good luck getting them out of Russia to face the crimes.

If they haven't already perished in the current war against Ukraine.

Bro in Odessa reporting that they have some problems with electricity. Main problem is that food in fringes could rotten. Lets hope that Iran don't send any more missiles to RF.
