After months of trying to beat S-7 with PRO Physics with a G25 (clutch on) in both Spec II and III and getting no better than 7th (only once, 11th on average), I gave up and switched to STD just for the sake of getting the trophies. Got Bronze on the first try, Gold on the second in the Tuned Clio. Then out of frustration, I just finished S-10 and the F40 one lap mission race on STD simply to get it over with and move on with life.

My ego has taken a huge beating, and I'm just wondering how many of you have gotten a podium finish on PRO for these races. Not to put down STD players, but PRO certainly makes STD seem like a walk in the park.

The F40 race was too much for me. I did that on STD.
S-7 and S-10 are hard for me too, but I'll keep on trying on PRO for the time being.
There is a thread on these missions here including a tune that might work (haven't tried it myself).

Good luck!

edit: apparently the Clio tune by DrBimmer is the one to go for. I'll try it myself later today!

I've bookmarked that thread and used DrBimmer's Clio tune and failed in PRO.

I'm trying to be very specific in gauging how many have finished these races in STD or PRO and find out how much I suck (or to take comfort in the fact that I'm not alone).

Unfortunately a lot of people don't mention whether they did it in Pro or Std.

I have yet to see anyone say explicitly that they've done these 2 events in Pro and provide a video to back it up.

I have gold in both on Std and as far as I can see it is impossible to do this in Pro.

I've finished S7 and the F40 mission on STD, but it was a time ago, when I didn't have the Wheel (Bought DFGT 2 weeks ago). Now I'm trying S-10 on PRO (only play PRO now), when I finish it, i'll try the other events on PRO.

In this forum you'll probably find many people who've finished this in PRO. It doesn't say anything. And remember before you compare yourself to the people on this foru: All the people who needed downloaded savegames to 'complete' the S class are probably not on this forum. There are a lot of players who are not able to finish the S-class at all (PRO/STD).

Have you tried practicing the track in arcade mode? I find that if I practice there and really practice on the best line for each turn (the driving line function may work) my laptimes increase rapidly. Sometimes the difference between 12th and 3rd place is just a different approach to one turn (which gives you a better exit speed for example). Arcade mode time trial gives you a bit more room (and time) to concentrate on the track without getting distracted by other cars.

Have you tried practicing the track in arcade mode?

Point taken, and yes, I do enjoy time trials. But you can't use Quick Tune in arcade mode. Given how tough these races are, every last tuning variable counts, every last degree of camber, every last mph you can squeeze out of every gear. Practicing in arcade mode is great for improving times, but not within a particular car tune. Shift timing will be off. Exit speeds are totally different. Not to mention that S-7 is on R tyres, while the max tyre in arcade mode is S2.

And yes, people hardly mention PRO or STD when they proclaim victory in these events. Which is the point I'm trying to make. I remember that spyrrari has gotten S-7 gold in PRO. Just wondering how many more heroes among us there are out there.

I finished all the S-events in two hours.... on STD... :) lol I race and tune in Pro ALWAYS when im online... but I just couldnt be bothered to do the S events in Pro... it takes TOO much time and TOO much stress.... so I just hurried it up and did it in STD, so I could get my hands on that F1 car finally.... I mean its cool to say that you did it in Pro... and I would rather be able to say that, but oh well, it doesnt really matter because I fair well in Pro online anyway... :) So I guess the choice is up to the person if they do it STD or Pro...

As many of you know I have posted tunes for all the S-class for std physics. I find all of the S events very easy in Spec III with std. I have tried both S7 and S10 on pro but can't do better than 10th or so (so far). The thing is, the AI cars don't seem to care what physics you use. They seem to be using std physics even though you're driving pro. They just don't slide. At all.

I have taken the lead in S10 on lap 2 with std physics but I just watch the AI cars drive away in pro.

I've started doing all events in pro mode with the goal of making a complete set of S-tunes for pro. I have to say I'm not there yet.

Good luck to that man. I'm in the same boat - too easy on Std and too difficult impossible on Pro. I also agree entirely with the competitor cars continously using Std physics.

For me, the only offline event I've played after the Spec III update was the S-10 event, winning 1st with PRO physics on, by a well-tuned GTLM. :D
I realized that the PP limit of S-10 was increased to 750PP and found it much easier to win this event with PRO physics on. :)

I'm sorry, I didn't catch what physics you were using... Was that PRO physics?

:)

I tried for 4 hours today to do S10 in pro. After trying several cars I settled on the Amuse, which seemed the most stable in pro mode. My best lap was 2'03.xxx and the lead car was averaging 2'02.xxx.

My best run (of gawd knows how many) was 9th, with no chance of even catching 8th.

I won't say it's not possible, just not possible for me unless I get quite a bit better.

I too would be very interested in seeing a video of somebody doing S10 in Spec III pro mode. If nothing else I could get some ideas to improve.

I've been trying for a podium finish for S-10 PRO mode for quite a few days now. I've got a podium finish in all the other events using Pro mode. I'm beginning to think it isn't possible in Spec III. I've tried a LOT of different cars. Did a LOT of tuning, tried a LOT of other peoples tunes. The best I've done is 6th with a tuned Evo X. But I was about 15 seconds (total race time) away from even a 3rd place. There doesn't seem to be enough traction or power available. I'm about to give it up.

Please, share the tune!

Sure! :) The setup was actually based on the TLD 750PP tune, with a bit of adjustment to my own driving style. :D
I was doing 1'59 or less starting from the 2nd lap till the end.

Setting:

Sorry that I forgot about the power, but you may adjust it till the PP reaches 750. ;)

Spring Rate: 5/8
Damper: 8/5

Hope this may help.
Cheers!

Any chance of a video/replay file?

well, I just played the event once for testing the GTLM and didn't save any replay for record. But the trick is to be as aggressive as possible in the first 2 laps (of course, without punting AI cars ;) ). Try to overtake as many cars as you can on lap 1 and you will find it much easier to catch the front on lap 3 or 4 if you're running with 1'59 laps. :)

I'd still love to see a video or replay. I just can't picture being aggressive enough to take the lead on lap 3 with the greasy R1/pro physics combo.

Lap 3 is easy in std physics. I've even taken the lead in the chicane on lap 2 (posted a vid of that one on youtube). But the tires are so slick in pro I just need to see it with my own eyes.

hmm.. I'm not sure whether I passed the leading Corvette/Tuned on late lap 3 or 4.. but it makes more sense to pass it on lap 4 indeed. :P I think I gotta try one more time and save the replay this time. But I don't have time to play till Sunday. Hope you won't mind waiting. :)

No problem at all man, I just want to see it done so I can be bothered to try myself :dopey:

I was running the GTLE in STD and could do no better than 5th, Didn't change anything other than HP and Weight to meet PP because I don't know what most of the stuff on Quick Tune is, but tried the Clio with the specs as listed and took first pretty easily. Never thought to try that car. Handles pretty well. Now...S-10...another story....tried 4 times and got pounded. I may try the GT settings listed by this gent and see if that makes a difference. I am in no league as you all, but this is still fun stuff.

Hey, Andrewyhy, my hat's off to you! This is a great set-up for the Ford GT-LM. After 2 hours of practice, I got to 4th place, with the 3rd place car in my sights. I did my first 2:02.xx lap at Suzuka in Pro mode. It takes some practice using the throttle, but I'm getting a feel for it. Thanks, man. A little more practice and I think I can get on the podium. And I'm sure if I kept at it, I could get GOLD. ( I didn't think it was possible)

I tried with pro but could`nt do better than 8th and crash out or 11th or 12th. Gave up trying to wrestle with the stupid GT and passed these on std setting.

I'm glad to hear that from you mate. :)
As I don't know much about tuning, I always use settings offered by the GTP tuning shops, with a little adjustment to suit my own driving style.

You're right, the GTLM is a great car to race with, a little bit of lift-off oversteer but you would get used to it and may use that as an advantage when cornering. ;) Try to use higher gears when exiting slow corners in order to get max. torque (at low rev) for faster acceleration. :D:tup:

I managed to get 1st on pro physics in S-10 (first by near end of lap 3). I used the GTLM but I think the Amuse S2000 and other cars could easily do it, I only spent a couple of minutes tuning.

The pro setting with R1 feel like the old standard physics. I remember these events were a lot tougher in April but the game has quickened up a lot and is very forgiving.

This is a replay of the S-10 event with PRO physics on, and it's the JPN version of GT5 Prologue. (NTSC/J) :)
There were a few minor touches with the AI cars, hope you won't mind. :P
I managed to catch the leader before Spoon Curve on lap 3, I don't know why, maybe it depends on the starting grid of the cars every races. This time the leading car is still the Blitz ER34 Drift Car (starting 1st of the grid).
I can't run as fast I did last time, lacking of practice for 5 days does matter on me! LOL :dopey:

ps: I was using my alternative PSN a/c while playing that event, it's EAst-R_ANDREW [HK] instead of GTP_andrewyhy [HK].
