Saleen Mustang

Hey I bought a Saleen Widebody SR today and it is awesome, but I would like to know what Saleen is. I dont know whether its a subdivision of the Mustang like the GT or the Cobra, or if its something u call it when u do something to it such as veilside, becuz ive seen 2 very different mustangs with Saleen on them, one looked somewhat like a McLaren F1 and one looked like Mustang GT. Help me plz!

P.S. What does Veilside mean while we are on the subject?
 
Saleen is a company that tunes Ford cars. The owner of the company is Steve Saleen. He now has made his own car called the Saleen S7.
 
So in theory in real life if I bought a Mustang GT put a supercharger and an intercooler in it I could legitimally put a saleen sticker in the windshield?
 
you can't legitimately call it that. you would have to buy it from them. they also have a saleen focus the body kit on it is pretty nice. illegitimately you can just get a bumper that says saleen and call it that
 
Saleen is an aftermarket company like Roush And Lingenfelter And Spoon...Saleen takes fords, and modifies them to all hell and makes some killer machines..They also make their own cars...AKA the Saleen S7..Which is a bad azz car in it's own ranks, even if it's not close to the best..it's got some looks to it.....P.s. KNock off saleen bodykits are very abundant so watch out
 
God I feel like a dumbass. Anyways like my dream is to own a mustang that is legitimately saleen, so I wondered if anyone could tell me how to go about doing it, do i buy one, get it modded and imprinted, or buy one straight from ford that is saleen or what? :confused: :confused: :confused: :confused:
 
ok.what a Saleen is...is that Saleen Buys Mustangs from Ford... GUTS it...And puts in Saleen blocks saleen heads etc etc etc..So it's a "Saleen car"...Just still a mustang...So if all of your car parts are still "Ford Tough"..Which is such an oxymoron...It's a knock off

And don't even let me start on the new cobra's...Nothin but straight line puzzy's...tsk tsk tsk
 
Hey man, I built a mustang to look like a saleen too. I love what saleen does to mustangs. But I don't pass off my stang as a saleen, because its really not one. You can put whatever stickers you want on your stang, but its just not cool to lie about what your car really is. Mustang fanatics will have more respect for you if you tell them that its just a mustang with saleen upgrades than to tell them its a real saleen. Let me tell you though from experience, its cheaper to put mods in from other companies than from saleen. Once you get your ride up to par then slap on the saleen stickers and body kits. Saleen is much like all other after-market tuner companies. Except most tuners don't have their own exclusive production model. The S7 is soo cool. I mean...the thing packs a 428 cubic inch V8. "The is no substitute for cubic inches." It's about time someone produces a supercar with more than 330 cubes.
 
The Saleen Mustang in GT2 is the race version of the Saleen SR which doesn't come cheap.
 
The Saleen Mustang 280SR is a slower version of a GT2 car that race in LeMans 1999. It broke and never finished. Tim Allen ( Home Improvement ) drove the car for the race and it last 8 hours then broke due to a engine failure.

Basically the car sucks.
 
Ok thats it. The SR isnt cheap I know for everyday man like me. But compare it to ferrari or porsche with the same price tag or bit higher. It absolutely blows em away. A viper SRT10 comes close to an SR in pricing, but would never come close. EZ
 
A SR is about $40,000...

And a Porsche & Ferrari would destroy it.

The Race Car is about $150,000, and once again, and Porsche & Ferrari would destroy it.

Ya, Wildcard got in the spot, but Saleen S7 mostly runs in Europe, it's faster and has a more exotic look than the Saleen Ford Mustang. Saleen is a tuner, which is owned my Steve Saleen. Theres this huge gap in prices though a Saleen Ford Mustang runs about 60-70K a Saleen S7 runs like 500k. Huge gap.

You are wrong. The SR is over priced for how much you get. Its in the price range with cars that can make it look like a diahatsu.

Hey, don't dis the Midget, it's fast for a three wheeled truck. But yeah, I've never really seen a use for any Mustang to tell you the truth:lol:
