Saving a safe copy of game progress

I am new to xbox and Forza.
In GT5 I have to save my game progress in a pendrive to keep it safe in case my ps3 break again.
How do I do this in Forza 4?

Can't. It's totally and accurately automatic.

Yes, I know the game is save automatically in the HD.
But I want to keep a safe copy just in case my Xbox break and I have to buy another one. Is there a way to save my progress in a pendrive?

Maybe you want to share how then?

When I posted that last night I had no time to share my view on the subject but thanks for your question.

I posted quickly to let the OP know that what Buggs1a said was totally incorrect infact the OP easily identified himself that what Buggs1a said has no relevance to what he actually was asking it was an entirely different thing he was talking about.

Too many people post info as facts - in this case it wasnt even related to what the OP was asking.

The problem on the 360 is that your game saves are linked to your profile so to back up a game save you need your gamertag / profile to be on the USB stick / External HDD.

But even then only some games allow you to 'copy' the game save - some require you to 'move' the game save.

So at the end of the day you could go through the hassle of moving your profile to the USB stick then find out you can only move the gamesave and not create a copy.

My Profile is always on a USB stick because I use more than one Xbox, I will try and 'copy' the forza save tonight and post back and let you know how I get on.

Or you could try it yourself by going into system settings>memory settings.

Edit: you also cannot save data on the device like flash memory as any external device has to be formatted (by the console) to allow it to accept data saved by the 360 - you can also only use up to 16gb of external storage even if you plugged in a 1tb drive !

The 360 also requires you to tell it how much storage you are dedicating to use solely for the 360 - so for example you have a 16gb USB pen and you tell the 360 to use 10gb of that - when you plug your USB pen in a PC it will only say 6gb is free and 10gb is used (even if you havent stored anything from the 360 onto the device).

You know, you sure could be nicer. I didn't see the pendrive. I saw that he wanted to manually save. That's what I saw. Sorry that I missed that.

Welcome to xbox, no worries will never crash:)

Yeah, without a doubt the most reliable console, evar.

However, despite being on my fifth console, my original 20GB hard drive was still kicking (I bought a 60GB HDD just before FM4's release). So, in that sense, even if your console fails you will probably still have your data because Microsoft only needs the console itself for warranty repairs, unlike Sony.

Hi guys, My Xbox power supply just gave up the ghost. Does Xbox live gold keep my saved game data also?

You can copy to a memory card or thumb drive without your profile on the card. However, many games will only allow you to "move" the save file and not "copy" it to prevent cheating. I know the older forza's only let you "move" the file and not "copy" it.

Good news is that if your xbox dies the HDD is swappable.

It was just the power supply. I have a new Xbox here now and am transferring all the purchased content. To be honest, i don't mind restarting Forza from scratch, it's so much f'in fun. Unlike GT5 which I dreaded loosing my save game, for fear of having to re-grind everything.

It is not possible to back-up forza saves without using 3rd party software, which can have unwanted consequences - see below

Umm but then can you not just copy the 'moved' save from ur stick to your pc (via your pc)?

If you do this your save may be flagged by Turn 10 servers, if this happens it becomes only fit for deleting, you won't be able to use it again.

You could try using the 'Cloud' service to store the save for safe keeping, but I hear even that isn't 100% reliable. I'll stick to an old fashioned official memory card or USB stick

This^^^^^

Do not attempt to copy your FM4 game save as it will undoubtedly lead to your save being invalidated and you'll have to start all over again.

Moving it around 'should' be ok but don't try and copy it.
