Say Fanatec, Buttons on Shifter Please?

Should the Stick have it's own face buttons?

I know some of the guys from Fanatec like to post on these forums, so i wanted to just throw this out there. I read somewhere that there might be a new shifter or something in the works, but whether it's true or not, i have some things that i'd like to point out, and i decided to make a poll to see how many agree with my ideas.

Would it be possible to have a second set of face buttons somewhere along the shifter base? The reason i ask is mainly for drifting, but even in more violent driving games like Dirt, the wheel tends to move around too violently to bother trying to hit the hand brake, or check your blind spots. I often accidently enable my window wiper or change camera view on my GT5 setup xD A button near the shifter would just be alot easier to use as a hand brake Mid drift. If other users agree, please mark the poll!

Meanwhile, other measily, perhaps much more expensive hard core feature ideas i had, that people could discuss:

-I dunno if this is even feasable, but it would be great if there were gates that forbid you from moving the stick in gear untill the clutch was engaged. Perhaps even it's own seperate force feedback motor.

PS: Any chance on an analogue hand brake for pc games?

I personally don't see any need for buttons on the shifter (not that I would object to having buttons, I just haven't felt any need for them), and there is already an individual mounting bracket and a longer cable for placing the shifter elsewhere. They are available for purchase separately.

The shifter force feedback/gate restrictor idea would be great though.

[EDIT]

Also, they are working on a separate hand brake. ;)

No need? Do you drift much? It's awkward trying to press buttons when your balancing the wheel.

Option 2. I just want a new shifter that is less clicky and has more of a dull, mechanical crunch with a fair amount of weight. I really hope the upcoming clubsport shifter delivers on that.

Fanatec: Shoot me an email. Im ready to purchase and test the new shifter

When playing Midnight Club LA on my G25 it always sucked to have to take my hand off the wheel to hit the buttons. I'm much faster and more accurate now using the PWTS and its face buttons. It's just plain faster to hit a button where your hand is resting. Unless you're a one handed cowboy who drives with one hand on the shifter and one on the wheel!

On the current Fanatec shifter I sometimes pinch my skin between the shifter and the shifter base when shifting to the forward gates. Not the most pleasant feeling of haptic feedback, perhaps a alcantara boot on the new shifter?

Im honestly surprised about the negitive response. I mean how often do you use two hands on the wheel to pull a hand brake irl?

On the other hand, you guys think that consoles will support a hand brake?

It will likely have an option to be analog or button press so the console having the feature is no concern. The firmware can be updated to add this functionality to existing wheels. This is similar to how Thomas added the abs rumble feature where you can select a percentage of brake pressure despite so few games supporting direct calls to the abs motor.
