Scapes rant

Is anyone else dissatisfied with how low in height so many of the scapes are? In many cases one cannot even see the sponsors of the hood. It's like someone crouched down when they took these photos. In the future I'd love to see more scapes that can be shot at a higher angle

I'd also love to see more scapes at racetracks. Who wants to take pics in all these random towns/airplane hangers/underground? I'd much rather take pics in race shops, in paddocks, and in victory lane.

What's your opinion on scapes? I love the feature, but I dislike most of the options I have

I was just comaplaining about the height of most of the scenes to my girlfriend. She was not as concerned as I was. I agree, the camera should be more mobile. I have roof art too damn it!

That happens because with scapes PD wants the backgrounds to look good. In most of the photographs, if your POW was higher and looking down the background would be cut massively (skies would disappear, top of houses and other elements, etc). For a good overall composition, most photographs will be taken form a lower angle to accommodate a nice looking background around the car's silhouette. If you go through a car magazine or simply go to flickr, you'll see the best or most liked photographs are of cars where you don't see the top of the car. We have a few scapes where it's possible to see the top of the car though.

You have all the freedom (or a lot more at least) to take the shots at the angles you want if you choose the photomode option in replays. You can place the car exactly where you want on a track and take a photo form a higher angle.

In a perfect world I'd like to have some degree of movement within scapes but I recognize that's probably hard to do technically. I use them quite often but if I want something 100% original or to reproduce something I have in mind, I'll probably avoid scapes.

That happens because we only get the POW from the position of the camera that took each specific scape. Messing with the X,Y,Z axis would only be possible in a 3D space, otherwise the elements on different planes would look wrong and distorted.

List 300 locations you did not like. If you have these 300, you still have 700 for fun.

I've taken 400 photos so far. Only 6 of them in racetracks. And I only used the Jaguar F-Type R, LaFerrari, One-77 and Veyron.
I have used so far only 3 colors in these cars, white, silver and red...
And when my favorite car comes (370 Z), I'll be lost...

About the quality, adjust the settings in 'High'.
