Hi Guys,

I'm just importing video now and totally bummed. I got about the first 5 laps of the Nurburgring and then the screen went blank. I had a great battle with Firedshot almost the entire race and it it looks like most of it is simply gone. :ouch:

I'll try and post results later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Thanks for racing. Despite the PSN and disconnect problems, I had a nice time. :)

nurburgring: Qualifid 2nd started behind MHailwood. folowed him until the 2nd lap, he braked on the inside of turn 1 to defend the corner, got on the gras and spun of. i continued in 1st, 7 flying laps in a row to go 2'22.9 fastest, was 7- 10 sec clear, of the 2nd place when MHailwood moved up to 2nd.
on lap 13 i mised turn 14and15 (last shicane ) lost 7sec and MHailwood was right behind me ~ 3.5sec
un til the end of the race the gap was decreasing.

paul ricard: started last.. got a good start, braked late and was planing to go around everybody. didnt hapen...
the whole race was in the last positions, moving up 3- 4 places and faling back again.
there was a incident with Dr. he was behinde me and sudenly apeared in front of me half sideways and spun. was wierd lag going on.
was fun and short only 9laps finisheb pre last.

Autoclub race track:
Qualifid on pole. got a decent start with lil wheel spin and power overstear. lost 1st to JJ.
we where side by side in the braking zone to turn 1.
i was on the inside, i did lock for the 200m sign to brake, did se JJ's car besides me on the right side and a sign upcoming, tought if JJ's is not braking then that must be it. waited to brive past that '200m?' sign and braked hard, was doing quait well, figured i outbraked JJ ! until saw turn 2 fly by me.. figured i outbraked my self to.
got company in the wall, mario joined and i think drivatar was also near by in the crash scene, was at first surprised that anybody followed me to brake so late :D
lap 2 disconected, psn eror, was joined by drivatar and mario in the chat room who also had a bad luck with the network.

Mugello sports :
Qualifid on pole. ther were som drivers not on the default livery in qualy, incuding my self. that happened because JJ had to make a new loby and then we forgot to change livery's
we were on default setings anyway me and drivatar, dont know who else forgot to change for Q , only mario was not sure and did go slower in Q.
the race started, lost traction and the leed to henrik, turn 4 gravel, JJ 2hd i 4th chasind Derek.
lap 2 turn 1 i split JJ and Derek to go 3rd, then got past Derek ... then outbraked my self in to turn 4 and before the last rurn on the downhill gravel, a cople of times, was doing grate laps, but the race with 9laps was to short to cach Henrik. 2nd for me.

I could only finish 2 of the 4 races. Sadly I got disconnected from the lobby in the races I was at good positions and in the races I could finish I placed well behind.

RACE RESULTS & RECAP

Although there were comparatively few people taking part in this event, some problems with the game as well as what appeared to be some general network or server problems with the PSN resulted in numerous people being ejected during some of these events. As such, IMO, the points are a bit of a wash and do not truly represent what was potentially possible had everybody been able to race straight through to the end. But we'll chalk it up as 'mechanical failures' and let it stand.

My own performance during these events left quite a bit to be desired but I had quite a bit of fun and some good battles, which is really what matters.

Total Race Time: 36 minutes 25 seconds

I qualified in mid field and allowed one or two cars to get around me while taking a conservative line into the first corner. I tried hard not to make contact to the car in front although ended up touching slightly anyway and allowed Firedshot to squeeze underneath. A mistake braking and getting a little lock-up while off line a few corners later had dropped me back nearly to the back of the field. For most of this race, I had a good battle going with Firedshot, with a little DrSt01Ner & Ghost_Yelo thrown in for good measure. In general, I felt I was just a bit faster than Firedshot but just not fast enough to get a clear run on him. And several odd errors by one or the other kept things pretty even.

At one point I was ahead of both Firedshot and DrSt01Ner but a slight and accidental nudge in the braking zone at turn one had me off and dropping back. In the end, it was a real neck and neck battle with Firedshot all the way to the finish line. Although the game awarded victory to me (timing error) to me it was obvious that Firedshot was ahead of me so I'm giving the position to him. Well done. 👍

I think I've made my feelings about this track abundantly clear. It's a disgrace. But it is the only track (save Autoclub) that has not been featured in the Classic Series and with the events winding down, it's inclusion was a necessary evil. Coming in last for me was almost inevitable due to a combination of lousy driving and my lack of experience at this track. But considering the amount of pushing and shoving going on, intended or not, my mind is clear this is just a lousy track for decent racing.

I didn't start off too badly and at the beginning of lap 2, I was running 2nd behind Drivatar. I made sure to brake early but then downshifted into first a little early, my car sputtered, lurched forward and I ended up punting drivatar off! :ouch: From that point, once I made sure he retained the position, the rest of the field was right on my bumper and showed little mercy. Within a few seconds I was relegated almost to last place.

At one point, several laps later, I was in the middle of a 3 wide battle going down the back straight, although I admit, that i put myself in that position. But realizing that it was about to end in tears, I backed off first to concede the position, only to suffer the inevitable off road contact anyway when some side by side contact and maybe a little lag with Firedshot caused both of us to run wide.

Race No 3 : Autoclub Speedway - 15 Laps - DRY

1 - turnupdaheat - 1.48.14 - 25
2 - mhm66 - 1.47.87 - 21

6 - Ghost_Yelo - 1.49.74 - 10
7 - GTP_Hun - RTD - 9
8 - new_soul - RTD - 8
9 - drivatar - RTD - 7

Total Race Time: 27 minutes, 34 seconds

Although I did get at least 25 laps of practice in on this track over the last week, it's a track I rarely race on and my lack of experience showed. I lost the lead after a ridiculous mistake at the infield hairpin on lap two and simply didn't have the pace to keep up with turnupdaheat or Firedshot, nor with mhm66 who passed me a few laps later. After a mistake by Firedshot a few laps later, I found it interesting how I could make up time on him in some sections but he pulled away from me with impunity in other areas, showing we had similar pace but different driving styles.

This race unfortunately resulted in several people being kicked out of the lobby. Both MHailwood and Stoner had retired the race before and did not return. As such, it's difficult to say how this race would have panned out with a full field.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Race No 4 : Mugello Sports - 9 Laps - WET

1 - mhm66 - 1.11.98 - 25
2 - new_soul - 1.11.60 - 21 (Fastest Lap)
3 - GTP_Hun - 1.12.28 - 16
4 - jjaisli - 1.12.97 - 13
5 - FiredShot - 1.13.08 - 11
6 - Ghost_Yelo - 1.12.67 - 10
7 - eddietrout - 1.13.10 - 9
8 - turnupdaheat - 1.13.58 - 8
9 - drivatar - 1.15.01 - 7

Total Race Time: 11 minutes, 1 second.

Right from the get-go, this race was a problem. I selected the option to change the number of laps and conditions and all of the sub-menus were blank on my screen. With no other choice, I closed the lobby and re-opened another. This was unfortunate because I had planned to run this race in reverse finishing order from the previous race. After a quick vote in text chat, we ran a quick qualifying to set grid order.

This race was actually a lot of fun and I regret that I ran out of tape about 1/2 way though the race. Once again, I had a race long battle with Firedshot. And just the reverse of the Nurburgring, I believe he had the measure of me here at Mugello Sport but simply wasn't able to get by me. Indeed, this is a tough track to pass.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINAL RESULTS:

Considering that two people did not take part in the last two races and the fact that several people were kicked from the lobby at other tracks, the results are heavily skewed. But the winner either way, and by a comfortable margin, is the quick man from Denmark. Congratulations Henrik! I see the Playseat is helping! ;)

1 mhm66 83
2 new_soul 63
3 turnupdaheat 59
4 Firedshot 48
5 Mhailwood 45
6 Ghost_Yelo 44
7 jjaisli 42
8 GTP_Hun 39
9 eddittrout 37
10 drivatar 26
11 DrSt01NeR 16

Once again, a big thanks to all those who took part in the 288 GTO event. We have just one more event to run in the classic series and I hope to be making an announcement in the next few days.

As a side note, I was reviewing my video and note the following:

- I have about 6 laps of blank footage at race 1 between laps 4 & 10. Truly a pity.

- Paul Ricard has a lot of artifacts on the screen.

- Mugello Sport I'm missing the last half.

- In general the quality is quite poor.

I'll post the videos as soon as they're processed.

Hi guys
I'm uploading the video's now,but the quality isn't the best.I had to put the camera(ipod)
close and low so the outcome reflect that.Hope it's veiwable.

Nurb.
Had a ok start only loosing 1 place before turn one.Took the posision back moment's later, and sat after mhailwood and new-soul.On the start of lap 2 mhailwood outbreaked
himself and i got 2th.From thereafter i thought it would be a battle with me and new-soul to the finish, but I couldn't catch him,and mhailwood started closing the gap.He took 2th posision back and I got 3th.

poul ricard.
Wrong starting posision,so I let the field pass and setteled near the back.Within 2 laps I was in 2th much to my surprise. The rest of the race I was hunting mhailwood but the gap stayed at 2-3 sec and there was nothing I could do to catch him.

Race No 1 : Nurburgring - 15 Laps - Dry

Video 1 : Recap

0:28 - I got squeezed a little bit here between Stoner and Firedshot and once I put myself in that position there wasn't much I could do. But over-all, I'm impressed at the clean way so many cars were able to make it through such a tight corner. 👍

1:06 - This would have qualified for the 'dumb move of the race' award. Would have that is, if I had not actually done this TWICE! :grumpy: Trying to outbreak Stoner, I had a little lock-up, got a little off line, put a tire onto the grass and it was all over. A minute after the start and my race was going down-hill fast.

2:01 - I saw this happening and remember thinking, "Oh 🤬". But I'll take it anyway.

3:00 - I remember looking at the name tags in front of me and thinking, in rapid order:
- Good, Firedshot is still within reach.
- MHailwood, what's he doing back here--he must have had an off.
- But he's in 5th. That means, I"m in...sixth. Who the heck did I just pass to get into sixth?
Of course the answer was that people were also dropping out. And while I was pondering this gem, I missed my turn in point and nearly let Drivatar through. :scared:

7:24 - Firedshot gets a penalty through the chicane and the game is on...

7:54 - Fshot brakes earlier than I anticipated but we both make it through the corner unscathed.

8:20 - Some great dicing here...

During the very last second of this video you can still hear audio but the picture fades. My stupid camera crapped out and I had about 15 minutes of totally black picture. There was a lot of great racing in between and it's rather lamentable. The action picks up in video two on lap 10, just as the picture is fading back in (noticeably distorted). :indiff::grumpy:

Video 2 : Recap

1:26 - At the time, I wasn't sure what was happening to Stoner but in retrospect, it was obvious that he was letting Firedshot by after some mishap at the corner. I tried to take advantage and sneak in but I had a really bad line into this corner and lost the position again immediately.

2:14 - I had a chance here but didn't want to risk it being off line and braked early. Probably for the best.

5:00 - This was a tricky one. I couldn't tell exactly where Wayne was and didn't want to broadside him through the chicane. So I tried hard to give him room and probably compromised my own line too much. It's probably my own fault for driving in cockpit view.

6:17 - I got a slight tap from Wayne and unfortunately it was enough to push me wide. In the video it's not even that obvious that we make contact and I don't think he was too sure either as he asked about it in the lobby afterwards. It happens--no big deal. And we had a great dice for several laps.

6:57 - There are no words to describe. Dumb move of the race Part II. I was so angry at myself at this point I can't even tell you. Not only did I lose touch with Wayne but Firedshot came through and Ghost_Yelo was sticking his nose in as well.

8:53 - Oh the humiliation!

9:34 - The result of trying to downshift before the transmission can take it. :ill: I'm not an abussive driver in real life--I just play one in racing sims. :D

Video 3 : Recap

This video is short but I couldn't fit it in the previous video due to YouTube's 10 minute limit.

0:25 - ARGH! 🤬 Camera!!!

1:26 - It's the last lap and I vowed on the main straight to be aggressive here. But tapping Yelo was not really part of the plan. :embarrassed: sorry.

2:08 - Agressive pass of the race! Hah! It's slight redemption for all of the stupid moves. OK, one of the stupid moves. I think this would have earned me at least 900 points in Shift. Over a 1000 if I had taken Ghostie out at the same time. ;)

3:33 - Ooooooo....nail biting time here!

3:48 - 6th!!!???? Well, it was pretty obvious Firedshot crossed the line first. Great finish though. 👍

I'll try and post the rest later today...

Yes, I'm sorry if this wasn't clear. These events take place in a private lobby. If you're not on my buddy list you can either send me a friend request or send me a quick PSN message a few minutes before the event starts and I'll send you an invite. You won't see any private lobbies listed. They're invisible unless the virtual door is opened for you.

Race No 2 : Paul Ricard - 9 Laps - Dry

Video 1 : Recap

Judging by what took place at Paul Ricard, I think it's for the best that I've left it off the venue until now. What a mess. :ill:

0:08 - The video starts by my camera crapping out again. I'm sorry, I meant to edit this out and published it before doing so. You can pretty much skip until about 1:09 when the picture actually returns.

2:03 - I look back and see the rest of the field a 'safe' distance behind, but also keenly aware that MHailwood is behind me and could potentially make up a lot of time depending on what kind of line he had coming onto the straight.

2:13 - I've watched this a few times and I'm still not sure what happened here. I braked early and it seemed like I was almost falling slightly behind Drivatar but continued braking at a normal rate. Then at 2:17 my car suddenly lurches forward as if I hit the gas. Downshifting a bit early probably didn't help matters. I can only offer my apologies to Drivatar here as it's hardly pleasant to be taken out when you're in the lead of the race. From there until 3:00 the savage beating I took was almost as if the rest of the field telling me what they thought of my move.

4:15 - looking at the next few seconds this seems to be a brilliant pass. But as it was happening, I was staring wide eyed, thinking I was about to take 2 cars out. I'm sorry if I clipped new_soul here. Things just happened very quickly here.

4:48 - What I was thinking going up the middle here, I can't even tell you. Call it a moment of insanity. However, at 4:55, I quickly realize that this isn't going to turn out well no matter what so I back off and brake. And as you can see over the next few seconds, calamity ensues none-the-less. Looking at this sequence a few times, I think the combination of lag and later contact just caused the car to lose grip in the braking zone and unfortunately Firedshot paid the price for this. At this point in the race, I was seriously thinking the only honorable thing to do would be to exit and return to the lobby. :indiff: God, I HATE this track!!!

5:33 - Stoner decides he's had enough and a few seconds later GTP_Hun offers his best drifting technique.

7:34 - Firedshot and Eddietrout have a head knocking. It didn't look that hard--strange that Firedshot should run so wide.

7:53 - Great shot!

8:23 - Camera again. Sorry.

8:50 - The picture comes back just in time to see me rear end somebody. Lovely.

9:29 - My turn to drift.

Video 2 : Recap

0:24 - I just take such lovely lines through here, it's a wonder I didn't win the race. :boggled:

0:29 - Uh-Oh--here comes...The Hun.

3:50 - As I said in the lobby, this one was 50:50. From my perspective, there wasn't too much I could do. But the fact of the matter is, I still hit New_Soul. So I waited. I was confused already at 3:43 when he changed his line, but then I couldn't see exactly what was or had been in front of him. At 3:47 it looked like he tried to slice down in front of Ed Trout on the inside but made contact as Trout, probably unaware of New_Soul, turned in. At 3:49 I was committed to the corner but still tried to stay to the inside. I was hard on the brakes but there wasn't much I could do.

I won't comment anymore only to say, I was in last place and it was the last lap and seeing that my best lap so far had been a 1:54, I decided to at least set a decent lap time. And this went down hill at 6:07 when some oversteer on the curb through me wide and the lap turned red. Along with my face.

I was just glad it was over.

~ 3'40 swiched the line to defend the corner, was late on the brakes, at that point edie was still far away.... ............. ....soon i realised that he braked a bit early, and i was closing wery fast............
....i quickly decidet to hold the line, because i did not se wher JJ was, i figured hes somewher on the outside line....... .......then i was 100% focused to take turn 1 wery tight.

I wasn't looking forward to Paul Ricard but i have to say it was a very enjoyable race and towards the end I was even wishing there were more laps available!

I started towards the back and for the first few laps I had a few good battles with Jeff, new_soul, Firedshot and eddietrout. By lap 6 I had managed to get myself clear of the pack and into 4th position behind Hailwood, Henrik and Ghost_Yelo. At that stage Yelo was over 8 seconds up the road so with a clear track in front of me I put the foot down and over the remaining 3 and a bit laps I managed to reduce the gap down to around 3 seconds before running out of time.

This race was in stark contrast with the first race in Nurburgring where I ran on my own for 12 of the 15 laps! I qualified 4th and got a good start to pass Henrik into 3rd position but he retook the position 5 corners later. Hailwood went off at the frist corner on lap2 so I was back up to 3rd and keeping up with the two leaders reasonably well. At this stage Hailwood had recovered and was gaining slowly on me but then it was my turn to make a mess of turn 1 and when I went wide he slipped past me. After that I simply didn't have the pace of the three lads in front and they pulled away steadily. At the same time I pulled away from the Jeff - Firedshot - Stoner battle and at the end I was 35 seconds behind 3rd placed henrik and 20 seconds ahead of 5th placed Stoner. In a league of my own you might say!

My victory at Auto Club Speedway was tarnished by the fact that we lost a few drivers but I'll savour it anyway! Again, I got a pretty good start and was in 3rd position behind Jeff and new_soul on the run into that tricky first chicane. The two lads kindly made a mess of it and allowed me to slip into first position! Firedshot was hot on my heels but I managed to drive consistantly and pull away slowly but surely. On lap 13 I was 6 or 7 seconds ahead but I lost concentration for a moment and went off the track and into the barrier but, luckily, I recovered quickly and only lost a couple of seconds. At this stage Henrik had made his way passed Firedshot and with a gap of only 4 seconds I had to really dig in. Over the next couple of laps I managed to pull out by a couple of tenths and on the last lap he closed in on me but I held out to win by around 3.5 seconds. Sweet!

After that the last race was a disaster! I hadn't practiced with this car/track combination in the dry, let alone the wet, and although the first couple of laps weren't too bad I made too many mistakes and fell back rapidly.

Overall, a very enjoyable night's racing with you gents!

Some great, clean racing last night. Congratulations to New Soul and mhm66 for their excellent driving. Unfortunately i couldn't attend the last two races due to work commitments. Anyway, good organisation by jjaisli and i hope to race against you soon.

Video 1 : Recap

From my qualifying position (4th), I had a great start and managed to take the lead around the 0:30 mark.

0:40 - Watching new_soul go by, I was shocked that he had missed his braking point so badly but he's since explained the incident. However, less than 3 seconds later, it was pretty clear that others had been using new_soul to gauge their own braking points. That I still found myself in the lead around the right hander was a shock to be sure.

1:23 - Drivatar out. :ouch:

3:00 - At this point, and being in the lead, I was driving rather conservatively. And I was beginning to think I might actually have a chance to win this race. I mean, what driver wouldn't think so on lap two? I took a less aggressive entry through the chicane and totally missed my turn-in point and at 3:10 I realize immediately that I would immediately pay for the mistake. Had this been a real race, it would have ended right there. :ouch:

4:27 - With turnupdaheat literally breathing down the back of my neck, I wanted to make sure I defended the inside to try and compromise his line and entry onto the straight. However, in an effort to be fair and give him enough room, I badly botched the entry into the corner and ended up with a penalty. It's becoming more and more obvious from watching these videos that my performance in this event was sub-par--even for my standards.

5:16 - Freeze. How Firedshot managed to avoid a penalty through this chicane is a miracle. But either way, the gap was increasing. And the gap to Ed trout behind me was decreasing. And I quickly realized that I would have to be much more aggressive if I would have any chance of consolidating a good position.

8:11 - For the last few minutes I realized that the two guys in front were at the very least, as fast, and if not, measurably faster than me. And I in order to have any chance of repassing them, I'd have to wait for one or both of them to make a serious mistake. Unfortunately the mistake ended up being mine and in the SAME place yet again! :ouch:

8:22 - Mario out. And while I was busying contemplating the rapidly decreasing attendance, I missed my braking point going into hairpin.

Video 2 : Recap

0:22 - I was REALLY making an effort to keep my laps 'white' but it's not so easy. Especially not with Jan Magnussen closing the gap.

0:36 - I really screwed myself here. If you use the G25's H-Pattern shifter and try to downshift before the transmission will take it, the car just lurches forward and there's nothing you can do about it. The incredibly tall gearing in this car had me reaching for 1st gear in many place where I normally wouldn't and it's an issued I faced many times during this event. My own fault. And painful to see.

1:54 - You have GOT to be kidding me! Well, there's a reason why this guy won the event. 👍

4:42 - Frustration really sinking in.

8:23 - Firedshot in sight again.

Video 3 : Recap

1:57 - It seems I'm the only one who can't work out the proper line through this chicane as I'm losing time to everybody.

3:31 - I remember backing off a bit here as it looked like Firedshot was about to rub the wall. It turned out not to be the case and I turned in way too early.

4:14 - Oh Yowza!

5:29 - I'm pushing as hard as I dared but...will it be enough.

6:15 - Now or never.

6:36 - I thought I was about to clout Firedshot and had to lift a bit and steer off line.

7:35 - It pretty much ends right here.

I wasn't looking forward to Paul Ricard but i have to say it was a very enjoyable race and towards the end I was even wishing there were more laps available!

Well, I'm glad SOMEBODY enjoyed it. :)

Some great, clean racing last night. Congratulations to New Soul and mhm66 for their excellent driving. Unfortunately i couldn't attend the last two races due to work commitments. Anyway, good organisation by jjaisli and i hope to race against you soon.

Glad you could join us as well, but sorry you had to leave early. There's one more race coming up with the F40, most likely on the 28th. I'll try to make the announcement still this week.

Video 1 : Recap

This will be short. One because it's a short race. And two because I ran out of film six laps in. A pity because this one was pretty exciting.

0:17 - Had a pretty good start and managed to get around Ed Trout.

0:43 - Who manages to repass me again two corners later.

1:05 - I managed to avoid contact with new_soul here but I was sweating as I was sure I was going to leave the track.

1:19 - new_soul takes out the cones. You can't see it but you can hear it.

1:30 - Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my.

1:55 - I seem to be driving backwards the way people are passing me.

2:10 - The Hun on my right rear quarter. That's trust my friend. 👍 But I'm glad I looked.

2:26 - Turnupdaheat gives me a quick lesson on 'defending the line'.

2:52 ~ 3:05 - Now if I only drove like this during the REST of the event...

3:13 - Are you sticking your nose at me?

3:22 - Are you sticking your nose INTO me? ;)

3:26 - The start of a disaster. I look back and while my attention is focused on the car behind, I put a wheel onto the grass. I try to save it but... <sigh>

4:26 - Freeze. This was perhaps a bit opportunistic. But I had Firedshot right behind me. In fact, I had just slammed the door shut on him--how hard, I'm not exactly sure. But it was either take advantage and get around Ghost-Yelo or be stuck in a four way sandwich.

6:51 - Freeze. To me, it didn't seem like we made contact but perhaps Firedshot thought differently.

7:25 - I was SOOO close to driving off the road here.

Unfortunately the last 3 laps are gone. But let's just saw it was more of the same. Exciting stuff. 👍
