I just found out about this tonight. :ouch: I guess the state of Arizona and New Mexico has declared state of emergency due to the problem with the border. Governors from those two states cites increased crime and smuggling as the reasons for declaring state of emergency. Now, some are saying Governor Schwazenegger and State of California should follow the lead of those two states.

What do you think of the border and immigration problems with Mexico? Any comments regarding the controversial Minuteman?

I think the U.S. need to protect its' borders. While there are plenty of jobs for Mexican people available here in the U.S. I think it's crazy for a country not to protect its' borders. I'm all for some sort of new arrangement, that would let Mexican people come to the U.S. and work legally. However, I am against people overstaying and costing the American tax payers more $$$, for taking advantage of services that they do not pay for.

The governors of New Mexico and Arizona are both up for re-election in 2006. Besides the politics, I do give them credit for at least doing something, even though the timing is suspect.

Will Arnold do it too? Probably.

I think the Minutemen are great, true patriots. There isn't anything controversial about them. They are within their Constitutional rights and state laws to protect their land, carry firearms, and report criminal activity (illegal boarder crossings) to proper law enforcement.

We were issued an official Government warning to stay away from the border. Reports came in that mexicans planned to deal with rival drug runners. Bombings, shootings, kidnappings, etc. are all the norm during these times.

I don't have to listen to these warnings. I'll never set foot near the border ever again, and that includes Cabo. The mexicans can have their corrupt and violent country all to themselves.

Not only Mexicans, but a lot of Brazilians and people from other South American countries enter USA ilegally through Mexico. And I mean A LOT! I think the Mexico government should try harder to stop the "Coyotes".

I thought about going to NA and work for a couple of years over there, gathering money so I can come back and start my own business, but I would never try to enter another country ilegally.

sorry, but that is not true. http://www.aila.org/content/default.aspx?docid=1047
the contribute quite a lot! they do pay for the services but they are not supposed to recieve them.
those damn mexicans.....no....anyways, not only mexicans are coming here which seems to be the main belief. you guys should know....there are other countries below mexico and mexico happens to be the link they have to go through.
i mean, heck....if someone is willing to risk their lives to live here (a lot of people coming from mexico do perish from the dangerous conditions) they deserve a little respect.
actually...i don't know if you guys have seen the film but its pretty funny. its called "A Day without a Mexican".
oh yeah! i don't want to venture too far from the topic so....BLAMMO! i hope california does not.

They are considered controversial. I do agree that Minuteman organization are doing great service.

I did not know that. When a ship full of immigrants sunk in Venezuela, I was shocked that they were going to try to enter the U.S. illegally. Out of around 120 people on that boat, over 100 drowned. :guilty:

The site has interesting figures, but they are talking about "immigrants". Heck, I'm an immigrant and I know I pay my taxes. :D No offense, but illegal immigrants do not pay for the services they receive here. That site didn't use the term "illegal" once, so I assume they are talking about immigrants who came in the country legally, and are paying all required taxes. Also, I get the feeling that site is biased. They kept on mentioning figures/statistics by "Urban Institute". I was bit suspicious.

I don't think it matters which county you are coming from. They shouldn't be allowed to enter the U.S. illegally. I am well aware of the people who are killed by criminals, desert heat, etc. while trying to illegally cross the border. Many of these people are just working people, trying to support their family back home. That's why I have absolutely nothing against people coming to the U.S. "legally", earn the money, then go back. I'm hoping the U.S. government will come up with some sort of solution to let that happen. I say again, there are plenty of jobs that 99.9% of the Americans don't want. Higher paying construction jobs excluded. :sly:

I've thought about renting it before. Sounds interesting.

I agree about the Mexican government. Instead of risking their lives crossing the U.S. border illegally, they should be risking their lives straightning their government out, IMO.

haha yeah, the link not exactly the best one <8- P
i understand what you mean about coming here illegaly but sometimes it just "chaps my hide" when someone says "these people just take away from us!" its not true, they have to pay taxes on a lot of things, the site did have some information about that, i mean they still have to do things like use transportation and public transportation is pretty simple to use, no I.D. necessary and some would say its affordable (i have not riden on a bus in years so i don't know the price).

a lot of illegal immigrants don't even take much to begin with, its just things like medical care that really costs a lot. free clinics could cut down on a ton of lost mullah (mullah? what?). i mean, you can go into the doctors and pay....lets say $40 and get some medicine for something really small like a infected cut to be treated.....or you could do what is mainly done and just act like its not there until you have to go the the E.R. a amount of money it costs to stay there is astonishing!
