Hello everyone here at GosTP!

I'm a friend of Elias (et_) and I can confirm that he has been banned. I spoke to him today, and he asked me to post a explanation. Apparently he had an argument with a moderator, wich got him banned.
He said to post this link, as he thinks that is the post that got him banned:

I dont know the exact procedure, but he said that he got no warnings beforehand (there was something about points?) I'm new here and dont know the exact procedure.

The reason I'm writing this is because he told me you are not allowed more than 1 account, and that they track your IP, so I said I could do it. But he does have the account details.

Meh, if that's what he ultimately got banned for.

With regards to the start of this coming from off topic posts... The Seasonals threads are mainly populated by a relatively small number of regular contributors who know each other well, so a bit of off topic chat/banter is just part of the social interaction as people form on-line friendships. Take this away and the forum becomes a much less enjoyable environment.

There's very little disagreement/conflict in the Seasonal threads - which would seem to indicate they were self policing themselves well enough before intervention.

Yep. Unfortunately the member in question chose to escalate it further and further by using unacceptable language and behaviour. Even after being given a warning about behaviour that would normally constitute an immediate ban - showing considerable restraint on behalf of the moderator in question - he chose to repeat it.

We have no idea why this member chose to behave in this fashion, but he did. It's a pity, but that's how it goes.


While moderating in-line is always on-topic, a ban should be the end of it. Please direct any further questions regarding this or any other staff action to my inbox or Jordan's to save the standing discussion.

Pardon my interruption, I can't believe a going off topic can escalate to verbal war and to this ban... It is just sad to see my alien friend gone. The mods can justify and rationalize the ban but we can not deny how helpful he has been for so long to the community. He and pinky girl have been active and sharing tips and tunes for so many seasonal events. He deserves some credits too and more leniency toward the ban. If the mods don't give him award for his contribution, at least, he deserves more respect than a straight ban like this-it is like a slap on his face.

We get to think about long term too. To get straight to the point, his gone is a big loss to our community. He has been good and close friend to many people here especially with pinky girl. They both have been running the show for a while and everyone was happy with what they did. There is not much of a problem. Even the root cause of the so called off topic is very minor. It was part of the interaction and communication among members. It should have been handled better. A more polite and peaceful suggestion can yield better resolution than a freaking warning and commands or outright deletion of posts etc that could escalate the issue much worse.

I just can't believe this happening! Like this thread if you will miss our alien friend-ET! See you ET in another planet. I hope you will visit our green earth whenever you can. There are still good friends of yours here on earth.

He made threads, m8 and he is a good driver. That's it. He got pretty pompous with a lot of members. Infractions aside, I would be really surprised if he hadn't caught attention from mods beforehand with some of the crap he would say. How everything is easy for him, when people would complain about how hard they found something and his arguments would often gravitate back to "you will never beat me", when he ran out of retorts. A very becoming man he was not. At least not on here.

@ET did more good than harm. He made things much easier for folks like me on the seasonal events thread. Lose to many people like ET and there will be no reason to be part of GTP.
