Anyone have any idea where to find a good priced seat to make a playseat out of. I'm a very good welder so making my own seat will be a snap, but I need a seat. I've considered going to the scrapyard and picking up a seat out of an actual car, but I have to put my homemade seat away when I'm done with it and something made out of a full car seat will be rather heavy and ackward to carry. The best I've found so far is a plastic racing seat from Jegs.com but with shipping it's gonna cost me about 130 bucks and thats just a plastic seat. Any ideas?

I'm thinking of making a playseat and wheel/pedal stand combo for when GT5 finally comes out (I've got a DFGT but nothing to mount it to) and I was going to use a Tillett Go-kart seat..Wicked idea i think

Personally, I ve built myself a playseat as well. When I came to find the seat, I decided to build it myself. I've build it entirely out of wood, then cushioend it with some foam and leather. The whole build cost me less than €100 ($130), and it is entirely made out of wood. If you want I can send you pictures.

Another idea, Summit Racing Sport Seat.
Reclining, Sliders, Black, Simulated Leather.

Pretty sure it was like $160 shipped.
Link to pics of the seat in my rig below.

I have googled it to death, actually, thanks though. That summit seat is nice, unfortunatly I'm in Canada, and that seat costs me almost 350 with the duty and shipping. I guess I should have mentioned I'm in Canada for one. I was hoping someone knew of a spot that offered good deals or something kind of the way direct canada sells g27s at a better price than most. I don't need a seat as good as I would put in my actual car ... just something that will make a good race cockpit seat for videogames for under 150 bucks

I've been away from gaming for a bit, but ready to get back into it. I just this week got a seat for my cockpit. It's a Kirkey Racing aluminum seat for stockcar racing, as this is what I spend most of my gaming time on. A few pics if they work...got my G27 seat... now I gotta get building the rest of the rig...

I chose this seat because it's weightless, so it'll be easy to put away... it holds you in awesome and feels really race car like, and it cost me nothing, lol... I mostly race stock car sims, so i't perfect for me..

I'd recommend a used seat from a sporty car.. My DIY was being held up because I was having trouble finding a seat. I made the following list of acceptable seats and started hunting:

2001+ Subaru WRX STi
2003+ Mitsubishi EVO
2002+ Acura RSX
2002+ Honda S2000 (AP2)
1992+ Dodge Viper
1998+ Porsche 911
2005+ Scion tC
2006+ Civic Si

You're going to want to check Craigslist and send word out to your local auto salvage yards. I wanted to use my budget towards getting a better steering wheel then buy a racing seat. I found an affordable compromise in a used sports car seat. 👍

Yup! Used seats are definitely the way to go if you want to keep costs down, plus you are getting a real confortable and high quality seat for cheap!
