Selling Cars

I'm new to the Gran Turismo series. Can anyone tell me, when you sell a car that you've invested heavily in with new parts, can you remove those parts, keep them and use them on other cars, or do have to put up with losing large amounts of money when you sell a souped up car?

I haven't been able to remove the tuned parts from the car before selling the car off.  Nor have I been able to remove the parts and put on another car (except for the wheels).  So I'm guessing you lose large amounts of money when selling a highly tuned car (at least so far in my case) and can't do anything about it.
