Wassup, guys!

On most Sundays I can be found at the local karting track photographing the races. I've been approached by several drivers and related parties about purchasing prints. I don't have any experience in this matter. So I'm reaching out to the GTPlanet photography community.

Thanks!

Well, seeing as you're in the US, try Sams Club. The prints are really cheap, even large poster sizes are a few bucks, 20x30's are under 10$.

Snoop around on other photographers sites and steal their ideas!

I had a good amount of interest the few times I photographed autox events, people love pictures of their cars. I prefer to drive but if I was gonna continue photographing I had planned to just do a simple donation type thing. Each event I would have a table with a photo album and donation jar. I was gonna have 1 or 2 cheap 4x6 prints of each car at previous events and people could just take them and donate a few bucks if they wanted. If they preferred larger prints and or digital copies then I would have charged something. I got the feeling I could make enough to cover the cost of the prints and gas to the event, while maybe(a big maybe) also covering the cost of use of equipment. This may have only worked the first few events before people starting getting bored with pictures of their cars and stopped donating, even so I would still keep doing it.

I can imagine getting some flak from pro photographers but in Houston I was the only one doing much photographing when I did. Either way an idea like mine probably wouldn't work well in the karting community.

At all my hockey tournaments the photographers sold you the pictures digitally (hint: put them the said photos on a cheap flash drive and sell the flash drive + the photos on it for $xx.xx). That way they get to do whatever the heck they want with the photo on their own dime.
