I know that every year there is always debate over the car picked at SEMA for the GT Award.

These guys have been glossed over and out of any type of consideration year after year basically because of politics that go on. I posted a reply on this subject at the Sony GT5 forum and was told I was childish and made me feel like I was a conspiracy theorist.

Anyways my thought is that how cool would it be if in addition to Kaz's choice for a GT Award we could get a Users / People's choice award. It could be compiled between votes collected at SEMA by people inside the auto industry, and by votes by "us" the people that actually play the game. We could be a part of our own future of the game.

Just my $0.02

Kaz isn't the only judge for that award. He gets to more or less pick the overall winner, but a panel of judges vote on several categories beforehand. I think they still go as: Best Hot Rod, Best Asian Import, Best Euro Import, Best Domestic, and finally the Best Truck/SUV. The winner of each of those categories then get looked over by Kaz, and after his own judgement and inspection the "Best in Show". Nobody gets glossed over, their vehicles simply weren't better than the next. It could've been as simple as finger smudges over the paint, which would have docked points for appearance et cetera.

Besides, I believe they already have multiple "Readers Choice Awards" as it is.

I am not questioning the Judging. I am questioning the process before the judging.

The guys that built this car won multiple awards at SEMA over the years including Fords best of show, Mothers shine award and many others more than once. They have also won Street Machine of the Year multiple times, and won best design at last years Optima Street Car Challenge. So to say that their work is not up to par might be a stretch. My issue is that they were told point blank that since they use Royal Purple they would not be considered. The guy in charge of picking the cars for Kaz and the rest is from Redline oil. The builders were told you could have all this if you switched to Redline.

You may say it is hearsay, or sour grapes or whatever, but I think that for builders like this not to even be in contention for GT is a bummer.

That is why I thought bring it to the people that actually play the game, and see what we like, that's all.

Redline?

You may presently surprised to find the Trans-Cammer, a GT Award winning car, used Kendall not Redline.

We are talking SEMA right, not E3?

Apparently the same guy wasn't in charge at the time, or there wasn't as big of a political issue as there was with Royal Purple. I do not know the reasoning behind the issue, I just know the issue.

Yes I am talking SEMA since that is where the GT Award comes from. Seems like it would be easy enough to have an ingame update that points you to a website to cast your vote. But also take people that are in the industry ie. other builders and such and let them have a say in what cars turn them on.

mjm23race is absolutely correct. It's a shame the car didn't have a shot at winning because of that. I would also like to see a player's choice award car as well.
