As it's the start of a new month, here's some new Time Trials to get your teeth into.

1) Honda Today G '85 @ Motorland (normal)
2) Nissan 300ZX 2 Seater '89 @ Tsukuba (normal)
3) Toyota MR2 1600 G '86 @ Trial Mountain (normal)
4) Mitsubishi Galant 2.0 DOHC Turbo VR-4 @ Cote d'Azur

Races should be run in Arcade mode: Time Trial using Sports: Medium Tyres and no driving aids. Run as many laps as you like.

PM your first lap, best of three, and ultimate best lap times to me.

Preliminary placings for the first track will be revealed one week from now. Overall winner will be decided by the lowest total time across all 4 tracks.

License test rules: at least 2 tires on track at all times, no collisions with walls.

Anyone can compete and we'll go by the honor system - proof will not be required unless you submit a suspiciously fast time.

All cars were chosen for being regularly available in the used car dealers (80+ times out of 100).

^ Best of three as in, run three laps and submit the best one of those three times.

I'm doing it this way to get an idea of peoples consistencey. Sometimes I'll run three laps within a fraction of a second of each other, other times I'll improve by as much as 5 seconds over three laps!

Times submitted for first three car/track combo's, for best of three I took that as the best of my first three laps, is that what you meant? Or is it once your familiar with the track, then run three laps and submit the best of those three?

Send me a private message with your three lap times;
First lap (warmup)
Best lap out of your first three (familiarisation)
Ultimate best lap from as many laps as you like (mastering the car/track combination).

Only the ultimate best lap will be used for the scoring, but I'd quite like to see the others for analysis and to guage how consistent everyone is.

I'll post results for each track one week apart with the final results for all tracks at the end of the month. You can however run them whenever you like - I've had times for the first three tracks from one person already, but will still accept times for the first track right up to the end of the month.

Not a great deal of interest so far, but I'm sure things will pick up before the end of the month.

Provisional Motorland Results;

Code:
1st   shotamagee	-2.375
[COLOR="Green"]2nd   smallhorses	-2.299
3rd   one inch man	-2.273[/COLOR]
4th   Car-less   	-2.163
5th   amkobih		-1.067
6th   Baseline Bob	x:xx.xxx

Bob was the most consistent with only 0.615 seconds between his first lap and his ultimate best lap out of 10, while amkobih smallhorses made the greatest improvement, over 2.5 3.5 seconds between his first lap and his ultimate best lap.

Actual laptimes are deliberately not given so as not to give late arrivals any target times to try and beat.

Provisional results for the next track (Tsukuba) will be announced at this time next week.

Another time edited into the standings.

Baseline Bob is indeed a b-spec driver, but don't think that you can duplicate his results. He is my fully trained driver, and you don't know how hard I was pushing him.

Still not much interest, but with some longer series very nearly at an end people will hopefully soon be looking for something else to compete in.

300ZX @ Tsukuba Results;

Code:
[COLOR="Green"]1st   smallhorses	-2.976
2nd   one inch man	-2.699[/COLOR]
3rd   Car-less        	-2.535
4th   shotamagee  	-2.286
5th   amkobih   	-0.951
6th   Baseline Bob 	x:xx.xxx

Bob was again the most consistent with an amazing 0.025 seconds between his first lap and his ultimate best lap out of 10, while amkobih smallhorses made the greatest improvement at a little under 1.5 over 2 seconds.

Actual laptimes are deliberately not given so as not to give late arrivals any target times to try and beat.

Provisional results for the next track (Trial Mountain) will be announced about this time next week when the final car and track will also be revealed.

I'll have a crack at this at some point. However, as I've just been driven home from work having managed to give myself a mild concussion by attacking a 1200lb machine with my head (by accident, of course) my racing plans for this evening have gone on hold...:ouch:

Going to sleep might kill you if it was that severe.

I should have a Trial Mountain time up tonight. I ran a little last night, but I'm really not happy with my final lap, and can see another 5 - 7/10ths out there if I can string everything together correctly. The MR2 is frustrating given that it slides easily, but man, does it lose time quickly when it slides! :crazy:

Yup, due to the short wheelbase and the MR drivetrain those slides can pretty quickly turn into spins or running out of race track, when your pushing hard.
Meant this combination did make the previous two feel kinda "easy" by comparison.
The first few corners are a good example; they were flat out (from memory) if you got your line right, but get it wrong by a little bit, (meaning lifting or braking) and generally its either a trip into the grass or a massive (time consuming) slide.
So I'm guessing the diferences between our 3 submitted times are going to vary by a bit more than they have done for the last 2 challenges (I know mine do).

too true

I found that left corner coming down out of the woods right before the end unspeakably tricky. Nailed it once perfectly, with the rest of the lap not nailed that well, and I just couldn't repeat that. Cost me about a tenth in the final time.

Toyota MR2 1600G @ Trial Mountain:

Code:
smallhorses	-8.949
shotamagee	-7.205
Car-less   	-6.843
one inch man	-6.379
amkobih		-2.832
Baseline Bob	x:xx.xxx

As always, Bob was the most consistent with just 2/3 of a second between his first lap and his ultimate best lap. Amkobih on the other hand must have had a very bad first lap as his best lap was almost 14 full seconds quicker!

Actual laptimes are deliberately not given so as not to give late arrivals any target times to try and beat.

And now for the final round. Mitsubishi Galant 2.0 DOHC Turbo VR-4 @ Cote d'Azur - and again it's trickier than it sounds...

Holy moly. What car were we supposed to use again?
Where the **** are those 2.6 seconds supposed to be found?? :eek:
That's a serious question. PM me smallhorses, if you's be so kind.

I'll do better than that one inch man, once the final race is over and the real laptimes go up, I'll post a MAX Drive replay and videos of my laps. 👍
I'd throw it up there now, but since Car-less is keeping the laptimes secret at the moment, I figure putting up a video containing my laptime would be a bit foolish! :dopey:
I've spent an awful lot of time lapping Trial Mountain in 1 guise or another since GT1, and I used it as one of my test tracks for assessing the competitiveness of cars relative to one another for use in my SFGTP LAN meetings for handicap and pick'n'mix events. All in all, testing for the 6 events I organised, I drove each of 237 cars at least 5 laps around Trial Mountain, and 2 other tracks.
So that's at least 1185 laps, and that's without how ever many laps you actually have to race AI in GT mode events for 2 x 100% completion runs, and numerous 5 - 20 lap races against real drivers at UKGTP & SFGTP events I've attended.
Trial Mountain is as familiar to me as the back of my hand, I can practically drive it in my sleep!
I'm actually convinced there's about another 0.5s to come off my laptime, but I ran about 100 miles worth of laps last night, and I only got ahead of my ghost about 6 times, only to lose it in the last hard left-hander and surrender the precious 1/10ths I'd gained back again.
I'll leave it as it is now and move onto the Cote d'Azur race.
That's another track I adore! :D

i am always last:(:(:(
question:are you all using wheels?

I use a DFP yes, but that's no guarantee of quickness.
Some of the fastest GT4 drivers I've raced head-to-head against: Famine, Jump_Ace & jmgyro, and in online series Austin343 is notoriously quick.
All of those drivers are equally fast, if not faster than me in most cases with a DS2 controller.

Where's the Cote d'Azur race? So far it's only been Tuskuba, and Trial Mountain. When will we get the undisclosed car?

Post #19 on the previous page, after the MR2 at Trial Mountain preliminary results:

Are we going to see some times from another driver here too SVX? ;)

I wasn't planning on ever revealing the exact times, but anyone who has entered can work them out easily enough themselves. Once the final results are up at the end of the month and you reveal your replays anyone should be able to work them all out if they really want to, but by not explicitly stating them it'll keep target times a bit of a mystery forever.

As for Trial Mountain, it's one of the three tracks where I have driven every car in the game - giving me some 2000 laps of experience. However as I started with GT3 and only really got serious with GT4 I don't have the same background in GT driving that you have.

i am always last:(:(:(
question:are you all using wheels?

Nope. I'm a DS2 button basher and I normally use Auto gears too! That said, I do have close to a million miles on my GT4 save, though about 90% of that was testing in B-spec.

Cote d'Azur now edited into the first post alongside motorland and the others you mentioned.

Once the final results are up at the end of the month and you reveal your replays
wait,do we have to because i haven't saved any replays.
Also,where can i find that mitsubishi,because when i go to mitsubishi in arcade mode,there's only Mitsubishi galant GTO MR '70

Replays are not needed unless you submit a suspiciously fast time.

Although very quick, smallhorses Trial Mountain time is not suspicious, but he has volunteered anyway to show his replay for everyone else to learn from.

The Mitsubishi used this week is available from the 80s used car dealer in GT mode 85 weeks out of 100. It should become available in Arcade mode as soon as you buy it .

Are we sure that the Galant is 4wd, it drives like a FF. Understeer here, understeer there, understeer everywhere. Even at lowes in 1st, with heaps of steering lock the rear still refused to budge.
