I don't know if this is well known, or needs to be tested, but it seems to me that you can serve penalties by taking more fuel than what is "recommended" while in pit road. I had never tried this before, but in my race just barely at brands, I received a ridiculous 10 second penalty on the first lap. I didn't get a chance to wear any of it off before it was time to pit on lap 8. I needed 7 laps of fuel to finish the race, but decided to let it go to 7.8 laps, which probably took an extra second or two approximately. When I exited the pits, my penalty had dropped from 10 seconds to 3.7 seconds! Has anybody else tried this out before?
