Dancing? What type? I'm not poking fun or anything, but there's a variety out there...

I'm learning two types at the moment:

Classical: Wals, Foxtrot etc
Southern american: Cha-Cha, Rumba, Salsa etc.

I can almost mow my lawn, and I'm in Minnesota. I don't see your point... If I didn't have school tomorrow, I suppose could, because the remaining 1" of snow will probably melt today...

Uh, the snow itself is kind of my point... that, and the fact that grass doesn't actually grow during the winter...

I think you mean South America, which would be Venezuela, Brazil, etc.

Southern America would be Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, etc.

But it was pretty funny imagining some pentecostal, bible-belt Rumba

Gir.

'Southern' is a culture not just a geographical location (that's what you Northerners can't understand!!!), and Florida for sure is not part of that culture.

Florida is full of people of many cultures - immigrants, displaced Americans from other states, etc. Mississippi (the state with four i's that still can't see) and Alabama are a different lifestyle altogether.

Heh... I guess, but they also have southern weirdos, and Florida's weirdos are more like Mississippi weirdos or Alabama weirdos than like Illinios weirdos or New England weirdos. Get away from Miami, Epcot center, and Jacksonville... and you'll be in the deep south... :nervous:

I know - but the point is that Alabama - the Heart of Dixie - Mississippi haven't even got theme parks or large non-racist cities. In southern Mississippi, the people stand for 'Dixie.' You'd be lucky to find a Miami resident who even knows what Dixie is.

Pfft....all the weirdos live in Margate. :)

Florida is odd: you have that mix of Old South with New, the large cities, and small farming towns. Then you have South Florida; a mix of Crackers (a FL term for native Floridians that have been here for generations), hicks, immigrants, tourists, and people whom have moved from the rest of the country (usually New York, Jersey, Connecticut, etc.)

It makes for a weird mix at times, but there is a Deep South, quixotically in the Northern and Central part of Florida, where the population is limited to small towns, where agriculture is the main industry.

Ask Doug if he ever was tempted to try the back-roads surrounding Gainesville...he'll tell you what Cracker life looks like.

But the big question, Doug, is how do you drink your tea?
Northerners: In a small cup, hot, with milk and sugar
Southerners: from a Mason jar, cold, with sugar and possibly a lemon slice.

As an aside you know the toothbrush was invented in Missisippi?
If it had been invented ANY place else it would be a TEETHbrush.

BTW: isn't "Dixie" the tune played by the General Lee's horn? Or is it the name of Daisy Duke's Jeep?
