Does this really matter to all of you so much that you have to create threads about all of these things? Instead of nitpicking at all of these things, you should appreciate the upcoming GT5 for every thing that it has. People complaining about having damage, tire deformation, 3D trees, are on the same boat. Stop making threads about these things seeing as though it will likely not even affect gameplay unless you are tallking about wet tracks, dirt tracks and dry tracks.
Seriously, its like these threads are made by Forza Fans trying to bring down GT5. Is it really necessary to keep making threads about that? Shadows don't matter. Did other racing games in the past have shadows? NFS? GT1 and GT2? Test Drive? NO!!! Did it affect racing/driving quality at all? NO!!!
Make threads that have some sort of substinance and not pointless "shadow" threads.
Enjoy the damn games for what they are, not for what you want in it.

All that stuff, you don't want to be discussed, actually affects gameplay and immersion, that's why so many people are concerned about it... BTW GT1, NFS, etc had shadows;
but yeah, this a pointless thread anyway. :ouch:

Whatever then, may a mod or admin then lock this thread? It appears my opinion is always attacked anywhere i go and i really mean anywhere even if i am right.👎

Atleast those threads have something to talk about,:sly:

Apparently, you felt compelled, but skids, textures and shadows, those are totally valid points of criticism, sure we LOVE GT and everything about it, but isn't the goal to ELEVATE the game?

YOU can call it nitpicking, i call it brainstorming, PD has virtually 200 People "brainstorming" every day.

I retract to what I said. I put the dunce hat on myself now, for not having read the title, and mentally thinking "wishlists". :dunce:

And I agree with chepe371.

It's a bit late in the day to be brainstorming GT5 don't you think?

I agree with the OP, on the other hand if the only criticisms are these sort of petty things then it shows how good GT5P is and GT5 will be.

However, PD could stop all these threads in one go, give us a release date and more info, hopefully TGS will see an end to these trivial "complaints" about trees and shiny tarmac etc.

You've got to be kidding. It's only going to intensify because some people can't stand it when one game is noticeably better than a certain other definitive game. ;)

The reason why i made this thread is that those things seem so trivial to me. Really, it is too late for brainstorming. Now, this is just blatant nit picking.

And why not? GT5 is the king, so I will complain when a certain other game is better. Point is I would expect GT5 to meet the challenge and best it, not half-arsed excuses, concessions and blind reasoning by GT fans. While that certain other game is shaping up to be so brilliant, I keep waiting and keep being disappointed by the very game that started my love affair with driving simulators, GT...:(

On Thread Topic

Yes jagenigma of course shadows, skidmarks and track texture are important. I can't actually think of any other decent driving simulator at the moment that still can't simulate skidmarks. Shadows and track textures are the environment on which we race. If that's less important than being able to read the serial number on the headlight of a car, then obviously something is not quite right...💡

So go in to those appropriate threads, and tell the poster how trivial his post is. You should know what that feels like.

To some people, with the extremely high level of graphical detail GT has, bad shadows are an eyesore. If the track surface looks fake... well the track looks fake. It shouldn't look fake if the cars all look real. The Problem with great graphics is that they look so real, you notice the flaws more than the level of detail, because the detail is natural, the flaws aren't.

PD long ago committed to putting graphics ahead of anything else, so don't expect them to change that pursuit. So, since we've all been at this for so long, the fans have been trained to expect the best graphics from GT, and we the fans owe it to PD to carry on with a discerning eye for detail (and flaws).

As for skid marks, well, to most of us it seems like such a trivial, simple thing, and with the computing power of the PS3, simple, trivial things like that shouldn't be overlooked. To fool the human eye with CG, you need to be 98% accurate, and that's what we're after. Sure Prologue looks amazing, but there's still work to be done, especially in the shadowing, AA and minor details like skid marks and reverse lights. It's not nitpicking... it's an eye for detail.

If you find yourself being disagreed with all of the time, maybe you're too brash in your statements. For example, don't tell people what is and isn't important to them. Try to make your posts sound less like facts, and more like opinions.

Also, complaining about complaining is a sure way to catch heat. Hypocrisy isn't cool.

Very good post.👍

You as well.

It's tough to sit and watch this PR battle, but I remain faithful. I'm hoping PD is sandbagging a little.

I badly want this too. I got money saved up for a PS3 slim and GT5 if PD deliver the goods. I have a list of those things I expect, as we all do, I'm sure, but I won't go into it. It's been covered many times before...

The last piece of hope I'm hanging on to, that what we're seeing now isn't as final as some think, is that they're focused on the PSP game right now.

Me too... if GT lived up to everything I expected from KY and PDs announcements and promises over the years, it would be a locked sale for me. But with the recent bevy of cutbacks (ie only some cars have damage and there is apparently some track question etc) my money is still sitting tight and ready to be spent, but I will be checking it a bit more thoroughly before spending...

For most on here GT will be a $60 or so game... for me it will be a $400+ game (console, game and possibly wheel upgrade).

BTW OP I am very happy about the good points of the game, but there is nothing wrong with experessing my unhappiness with the bad parts...

Would you say movies should only be enjoyed for their good parts and everyone should bury their heads about the bad parts? I mean the worst movie still has at least one good part, so by that rational no one should ever say anything bad about a movie..

^What about a good HDTV?

I have a projector with a 96 inch screen for big gaming and a decent 26 inch LCD for quite time gaming...

Although I have been eyeing a 52-60 inch LCD or plasma for the middle ground...

Most likely if I get the PS3 and GT5, no new TV for a while, if I don't get the PS3 then there might be a new TV in the works for me soon...

^I'm so jealous of your gaming set-up...I think I'll go cry somewhere now...

You should cry in my gaming room... just crouch behind the huge sub in the corner and I will drown out your sobs with my 6.1 digital surround sound system... don't knock over the buttkicker power supply back there ;)

I Give the OP a brand spanking new beige Austin princess.
