So, basically the entire drifting forum has been swept under the rug into some obscure subforum that I've never even been to. With all of our threads now gone from the drift forum, I imagine this section will just be filled with tuning requests and little else. In my opinion, the drifting forum wasn't even crowded and was kept alive from all of the team threads. Honestly, another subsection to the drift forum would have been a way better way to go, similar to the 'Drifting Videos' section.

What are your opinions on this mass thread migration? Please remain on-topic.

The move makes it more visible...it's now on the main page of the forums....it also means that we might actually get some regular moderation, although I kinda doubt it.

/My opinion :D

In my opinion they took all of the worthwhile threads and just threw them away.

Wait do you mean the team threads?

There was a problem with the organization in the online racing forum, it was getting cluttered so Jordan created a few new subforums. That subforum has always been there and actually gets a TON of traffic. Alot of the people in the GT5 subforum would do VERY well to realize there are other subforums on GTP.

The drift teams and drift events should be a subsection right next to Drifting Videos - like Adavicro said...

That is the optimal place for that section... Please moderators make that happen!

This. Kee the two seperate. Makes it cleaner and more organized. 👍

It's as if they cut the drift forum in half and then put both halves worlds apart. It will now be a pain browsing drifting related threads.

The drift team forum should be a subsection to the regular drift forum. I could care less about traffic, to be honest, I like having little traffic because it cuts down on stupid posts. If moderation was the issue, which I find unlikely, all the mods would need to do is actually come around the drift section, or appoint some worthy people moderators.

The point of the new Online Events section is to group all topics which deal with meeting up or competing online in GT5 together, under one category. Considering all the drifting-related online events that take place here, it only made sense to include a new dedicated sub-forum for that activity, so you can easily find others who are drifting online. I'll consider your complaints, though.

Yeah, but people will come giving out about drifting Nd that its a slow way around a corner. It was better the way it was. And the only way, imo, is to make an event subforum and team subforum the way the drifting video subforum is.

👍 Makes perfect logical sense, thanks Jordan

I understand your logic.

However, the drifting community is quite small. A sub-section, like you guys did with Drifting Videos, makes more categorical sense. I'm all for cleaning it up as we have all been asking to have a team sub-section but it just is not placed in the proper place. You can bet that the team section will slowly die off and team members will go back to just flooding the main drifting category as that is section that is most viewed by the GT5 drifting community.

Just as racing parent category should have child sections of teams, events, etc. The drifting parent category should have child sections of drifting videos, teams, events, etc...

My situation, however, is very "drift-specific"; I'm usually ONLY browsing the GT5 drift forums rather than GTP as a whole. By moving all the team threads and online meets, that hides those things from my "conscious" viewing. If the majority of GTP drifters functions as I do, the migration delivered such a crippling blow to the GT5 drift community.

As a proposal, if the migrated threads do not get as many views that they normally do, please consider creating a drift teams/Events sub-forum within the GT5 Drifting Forum.

Thank you for hearing us out.

Come on guys give it a few months and try it, you guys are judging it without even giving it some time. :grumpy:

Yes, I'll be keeping an eye on all the new forums and will be making adjustments accordingly. Note that I've now added a link to the new Teams/Events/Meets forum at the top of this forum so it will be easily accessible.

Some people have provided some valid points, good stuff. With the addition of the link to the drift team section at the top of this forum will definitely benefit me as I use my phone almost exclusively on GTP. Easier browsing was one of my priorities and now that it's taken care of, it's not so bad.

👍 👍

I wanted to suggest but I realize it's done now. Thank you Mods.

Yeah, well I think it actually looks better organised, but now there are moved threads everywhere in the Drifting Forum but once they get delete all that jazz it'll start to look better.

Thank you Jordan... That will work!! Much appreciated...

I have to agree I like this new drifting teams, events, meets all in a sub-forum because The drifting forum is just filled up with drift teams, meets, events. Hopefully now some other threads that are not based on teams, meets and events will get some attention. 👍

There are still several threads, including team threads, that still need to be moved.
Yeah, I am sure that I have missed many such threads. Thread creators can move their topics on their own, though - see the FAQ for more information on that.

I like the fact the teams and meets were consolidated to a seperate subforum, like the videos it leaves a specific place to find what someone would be looking for in this forum..i even propose that show your drift cars be consolidated w/ the videos. the more categorization, the less chance a thread to be moved, or posted in the 1st place, lest it be off topic...in short it keeps the forum cleaner for more threads to be actually seen instead being lost in a sea of team posts and meet/event info...

I thought that only Premos can do that.
Everyone can move their threads. See the link to the FAQ I posted above.

I got this error when I tried moving the Drift Family thread into the new sub-forum:
You have to move the thread to the actual forum, not just the "link" to that forum (I know it shows up as an option for you in the menu - that's a bug). You'll find the correct destination under the "Online Events" category.
