I'm gonna start this thread to let off some frustration. Feel free to share your experiences with the A.I.

Honestly, Nurburgring is too long, intense, and awesome of a track to be pestered with terrible A.I. drivers. Of course, this doesn't change the fun and enjoyment of the game. I just keep playing, but sometimes it drives me crazy. Who wants to bust their ass racing 2 intense Nurburgring laps to have the a.i constantly slam into you right when you're about to make 2nd place, but end up being in 5th.

So, I'm racing on Nurburgring and it's the last race of the Pan Euro Championship. I'm racing in my tuned BMW M5, and I'm dead last even though I know my car is faster and more powerful in every way despite it's heavyweight which makes braking a hassle sometimes. So while I'm struggling to make it pass these cars, I finally start whooping their asses on the track, even though the cpu is using every cheat and magic speed up options to keep the a.i. in the game. I'm witnessing the A.I. crash into every wall and sliding all across the grass wondering how the hell I lost to any of them. And while I'm doing well the a.i. keep getting speed boosts like they have nitro and handling quite well whenever they need to pass me and they they go right back to the crazy crashing into the walls and drifting at 180 degrees without losing control.

So I finally get in the zone, and nothing is stopping me. I'm pushing the M5 past it's handling limits even though I'm barely using any of the monstrous V10 power. A shame to have it that engine crippled by the weight. And with GT4s exaggerated understeering, which I don't mind because it makes you a better at braking overall, is really taking its toll.

So I'm on the last lap and hear comes one of the a.i. drivers flying at me like it had used some super nitros or something and hit the crap outta me. I mean when they speed boost, it's no joke. Anyways, I spin out of control like crazy and lose the race coming in 5th place.

One thing is for sure, I'm glad cars don't understeer like this anymore in GT5, what a large margin of improvement in the physics department. Hopefully A.I. won't be the same.

On the Nurburgring coming onto the straightaway just before Flugplatz. I had much more exit speed off the corner and was coming up beside the other car, when it all of a sudden decided it wanted the portion of track I was on. Slammed me right into the Armco where it pinches down at the bridge.

There's already a huge thread for this topic here:

It's even called "stupid Ai moments".

I'll agree its sucks the Ai slams us, but have to disagree about the nitrous comment. No way are they using nitrous. We'd be able to hear it if they were. It sounds like they simply drafted you down one of those long straights, perhaps.

Damn it. And I was searching up and down for a thread. I even did the advanced search option, so I would not make the mistake of creating an unnecessary thread. It just kept saying no search found. Oh well. Nitrous was a figure of speech. There obviously isn't any nitrous boost. But it has already been said by Kazunori that there is catch up option for the a.i. No drafting would be as effective as it happened as I was racing. The a.i. was like around the corner and they just boosted up. I've actually seen it happen in GT5p when I tried to block a driver from passing it drove on the grass and just boosted outta there. lol

Should this thread be closed then?

Thanks for the link to the thread. :)

No prob.

I disagree about the catch-up, at least in GT4 and GT5P. It's very obvious in GT1 and 2, though. If an Ai car seriously wipes out in GT4 for instance, chances are it'll stay far behind. But in earlier games (GT2 especially) it was possible for an opponent to completely spin out and lose its place, falling multiple seconds behind the pack, yet by the end of the lap that same car would have somehow magically caught up.

Kaz has admitted rubberband exists in Gran Turismo, but if it's in GT4, it's definitely not as strong as it was in earlier games. I've got LOTS of replays that show various Ai losing it in GT4...and that's it for them. Their game is done. My opinion is there is no rubberband in GT4. I've done far too much racing in this game (more than any other Gran Turismo) to base my conclusion upon.

What Pan Euro Ai were you up against by the way? Just curious.

HAHA this one time i was racing on Suzuka Circuit and on the third turn i hit another car and it spun and went right in front of me then i backed up to go and it just came towards me head on and didnt even turn around:dunce:
haha it was soo wierdd!!

This one I loved so much..

Well as I was about to lose the race in the special condition hall. (Very first one in reverse.) and as soon as I went to the long left curve (close the the finish line.) the AI Renault ends up getting stuck on the wall. There is a gap there he Just so happened to fit perfectly. So after a good laugh, I won!
